Will you visit the 9/11 board?

I know what you mean, Snoopy. the whole country was stunned. but those of us here in NY and those of you down in the District were more directly affected than most other people -- and the people here on the DIS were terrific during those horrible weeks.

Thank you Snoopy. My intent when I started this thread was not to provide a place for debate of things related to 9/11, but simply to see where others were in their coping and how they are coping. For some, revisiting the events with those who have been supportive is therapeutic. For others, revisiting the events is traumatic, as though it just happened again. I would imagine that there will be a lot of people that will eventually be diagnosed with PTSD as a result of this horrific event and the scary times that followed.

I will reiterate that I think that the 9/11 board is a wonderful idea and that I am very thankful that it is a separate board. Thank you Pete, WM's and moderators for allowing that forum.

My question remains: Do you think that you will visit the board? Why or why not?

I went and started reading but had to stop. I still can not think about 9/11 and the events without crying. I visited the 9/11 board because I have the task of helping my SGA prepare a remembrance on Sept 11, 2002 and wanted to see what others still feel about the day. We are having a hard time trying to find a balance on what do do.

I will try to visit the board again. I wanted to post my "where was I" under the thread about remembering, but I have to admit, I try not to think about it...even though there is not way that I can forget it.

after reading some of your responses, I did go over and even opened a few threads. I'm not ready for all of them (such as the Where were you thread), but it's a step.

I did visit and posted once, but was very taken aback by how easily the tears returned. I didn't expect the grief to still be so strong, especially since I am geographically and relatively emotionally removed from what happened. (Emotionally removed in the sense that I didn't personally know anyone lost or injured.) I can only imagine how tough it must be for those of you who are "closer" to the tragedies to continue to grapple with those emotions.

I'm glad it is there and I may visit sometime but probably not often. I haven't been there yet. I am not sure why it is so painful to me but it is. I dread September the 11th. I'm not afraid of the day, I just dread the recall of those moments and days after.

I must say I did find the DIS?CB to be quite helpful and supportive during the time after 9/11. I was very thankful for having friends like you all over the world to talk with about it.
