I think it is a little lame, but that is just me. What does everyone else think?

I just joined! I really miss the old magazine and this one looks really nice. I don't think 15$ an issue for a quarterly is that bad, not for a big glossy mag. I joined the actually "club" though so I'll get the "surprise" collectible too and I like that I'll be a "charter member", etc. I'm excited for it. :)

yes, depending on how much they'll add for international shipping (and maybe also depending on reviews of the magazines I will read)

However, I wonder if this will be something that stays or something like the Disney yearbook => I'm a charter member there too but they never published a second issue.

Also: becoming a member in order to buy a $859 pen???

Um, not yet, they didn't send anything to my email address -- why would I spend $75 when they can't even get that right?

Wow - $75 for a magazine and a venue to sell you more Disney stuff. I'm underwhelmed.

I didn't get an email either. I won't be joining as with international shipping the fee is nearly $140!!!!

It's certainly the best marketing campaign in history! Get people to pay for an infomercial, the marketing department has to be slapping themselves silly for every sucker they get to spend $75.00 on advertising. :worship:

I miss the old mag too, thats why I love the Celebrations magazine it is incredibly good

I may ask for it for a birthday present or something, but I have to agree that it seems like a lot for a little. Yeah, the $800 Walt pen is ridiculous. Someone needs to remind Disney the country is in a recession.

At this point, we don't know what the surprise collectible is. That could very well make the $75 more tolerable for some people.

I bought the first issue of the magazine today, so I'll probably wait until the next one is out to join, assuming they would spread the issues out starting from that point and not go back and send me the first one. I'd buy all of the magazines anyway, so paying an extra $11 for the certificate, card, ability to buy some of the pins (I love pins), and the mystery gift make it worth it to me. The magazine is really nice, save a few features that seemed out of place.

$15 for a magazine isn't bad? You guys must run in different circles than I do.

Maybe I can mow your lawn someday.

I'm surprised it took them this long.

I also think $15 for a magazine is not that bad, but it depends on the magazine. If it's the high gloss kind with nice content, sure, why not.

Question to those that already have bought it: what kind of articles are in it? With the international shipping, it's not cheap, so I'd rather know what to expect.
Also, the charter member certificate is on sale on the website for about 85$, does this mean if you are a member, you still have to pay that much for the charter certificate?

in a word NO

We love WDW, DVC owners, AP holders - But Disney wants me to PAY to be able to BUY more stuff:confused3 - Just don't see a positive to being a member at this time IMHO

Article in WSJ about D23 today, Marketplace(section B).

They are trying to make the D23 website as the place for Disney news and fans. Apparently they just realized or it took them this long to figure out independent websites and blogs were very popular with the Disney fan. And they want to be the first website fans go to for Disney news.

75 bucks is a lot for an annual membership, which I think kind of shoots themselves in the foot in this economy.
