Will you dress up for Halloween party??

Last year, DP & I got more attention for our costumes than my son. We went as Miss Piggy & Kermit, DS went as Han Solo. He was sad and it felt very icky to us to be taking the limelight from him. Thankfully, a cast member must have read our minds and made a big deal about DS when he went on Star Tours in costume. So, unless I agree to be part of a family of ninjas this year, I will not be in costume.

My BF was with us and felt even more ackward - he went as Ernie from Sesame Street and the toddlers surrounded him like he was a rock star. That also felt weird (he didn't want to be perceived as trying to be a Character) so he stopped wearing the mask.

I love hearing the suggestions for non-costume dress-up. Maybe I can come up with something that gets me in the mood without being in costume.

We went 2 years ago (DBf myself and DD) and decided not to dress up as we were travelling from UK and didnt want to carry costumes and also as it was a surprise trip for DD it was hard to sort anything for her beforehand without her knowing

However we wanted to do something so we all painted our nails with glow in the dark nail polish, sprayed our hair with multicoloured sprays, added glitter spray to our hair (we all have long hair even DBf so we wore it loose and wild) We had 'deeley bopper' hairbands with bouncing halloween things on (one had spiders, another skulls and i cant remember the other).
We also wore orange Halloween tinsel round our necks and had glow in the dark wristbands on as well.

It was easy to do and made us look wild and wacky.

We had several comments from CMs saying they liked our hair.

However the downside was trying to wash it out at the end of the night - we didnt think Hojos would appreciate the multicoloured pillows in the morning :rotfl:

I'm hoping to get tickets to a MHP, my DD wants to go as either a rock princess or a snow princess. I've made her a tutu which, while bulky, doesn't weigh much for our flights.

I doubt DH will dress up, not his thing but I have seen Halloween T Shirts which could be worn with jeans or shorts. It's not exactly a costume but it's definitely not usual :p

Still up in the air. DS4 & DD10 most certainly will, what hubby and I do is another story. I usually just wear a Halloween shirt, but since we are at DL, it might be fun to dress up. I think it kind of depends if I can think up something for the whole family that isn't too difficult.
My other option is to make DH & I matching shirts specifically for the party.

We've talked about going as the Avengers. We think it would be awesome for everyone to dress up and our youngest DS who will be 8 to be Hulk. Since he's just over 4 ft tall and DH is 6 ft tall we thought it would be funny! :lmao:

So far our faves are Capt. America, Nick Fury, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man and Black Widow - not sure how we'll work it out - but it's fun to think about.

Not sure if DH & I will dress up but the kids are for sure. They are still throwing ideas around. Can't wait!! :cool1:

I was thinking about wearing a black shirt, a red-polka-dot Minnie Mouse style skirt and some ears. Does that sound ok?

My two friends and I will be going as a bowling team, Babes with Balls, easy to pack as it is only the shirts and we are making bowling bags to carry our trick or treat candy in.:joker:

if we go as im hoping then my son will get one those melifcent head gear hats i saw even if i must order online, and he has wings from renz festival my mom got him purple and black (lol and be a male melifcent) his fav villein because its a dragon)

My self i am not sure of, Pirate, the girl from brave, some other neat one i find maybe a tink? Hubby who knows if my son is Melifcent he may be happy just taking pics all night lol
(waiting pationtly for ap holders to tell us the dates this year lol)

During a Halloween Party, can you leave the park and get back in if you have a ticket for the event? I haven't seen anyone list that.

Always dress up!! It's so much fun. I've been 3 times now.

The first year, my adult dd and I went as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. We bought most of our stuff from Forever 21 and Ross clearance--black leggings, layered striped tank tops (1 red & white and 1 yellow & white) and shorty button-up sweaters with giant green & white stripes. Oh yeah, and red/yellow propeller hats. I embroidered "Dum" on one and "Dee" on the other.

The next year, I was Harry Potter. I had an old black grad gown, wore a wig and big glasses and used a glow stick for a wand. Easy and fun!

Last year, my whole family went. We were garden gnomes. I made the costumes and it was a lot of work but we had a blast. They were actually very comfortable outfits.

Yes, you can leave the park and re-enter if you have your ticket and wristband.

Fantastic costume's, your family looks great!!

Gee, I'm not going, but if I did, I'd wear my Mickey costume I wore last year. :mickeyjum

DizMe, those costumes are AMAZING!! :thumbsup2

I've been thinking about what we're going to do. I want one theme for the whole family and DD4 needs to be the "star" since it will be her first time at Disneyland (that she's old enough to know what's going on). So I'm thinking of Alice in Wonderland with DD4 as Alice. She's got long blonde hair, it will be perfect! So I would be the Queen of Hearts, the baby (who will be almost 1 year) will be the White Rabbit, DH as the Mad Hatter, DD12 (who will be 13!) as the Cheshire Cat, and DS 14 (who will be 15 and the toughest to make wear anything) as a Card Guard (he can just wear something like a 5-of-spades t-shirt that I would make).

I'm going to find/make as much of it in advance. Will be visiting 2nd hand stores for coats for Mad Hatter and White Rabbit costumes, etc.

You made those!!? Wow, you all looked soo cute!

I went as Snow White and my mom went as Rapunzel-wish I could get the entire family to dress up! Lucky you! Awesome costumes :)

I am still trying to talk my BFF into going but if we go, we are going as Belle and Red from Once Upon A Time. The hardest part right now is trying to find the right fabric for everything!! I think that would be the most awesome way to spend Halloween at Disneyland: trick or treating in costume!!!! Think of the great pictures!

There are seven of us in our group, so we are going as the Seven Dwarves looking for snow white. We all were together tonight for a BBQ and chose who is going to be who. My husband got Grumpy and I'm Happy. My two little ones got Sleepy and Dopey. Costume creations start next. We are getting so excited though. We can't stop talking about it. :grouphug:

Thanks everyone for sharing your ideas. I can't think of anything for DH, DD5 and I to be. It has to be something easy to transport via airplane and not too difficult to create or wear. Gotta get out our disney video's for some ideas :)
