Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

Thank you for the warm welcome!! I always say, that no matter how old my brother becomes, he is still my younger brother. We may be getting together with my brother and sister in law, next year at Disneyland. My brother will be cool with most everything. It is my SIL who will have problems dealing with Disney magic.:( I think it will be a huge adjustment for her as she has never been to any amusement park in her 51 years,:worried:

Looking forward to your further adventures!! (As well as the answer to the mystery!)

How in the world could someone go 51 years without going to an amusement park?:confused3 That's mind boggling! I mean even accidentally you could end up at one!!! That is simply the strangest thing I have ever heard, including just walking off right before a parade starts. Just so odd. God Bless you in advance for taking her to DL. Oh my.:upsidedow

I saw the Electric Light parade in the 80's & haven't seen it since. I've never seen Spectro, which I certainly would like to see.:thumbsup2

I have a feeling you'll be seeing MSEP in September. But I am still hopeful that Spectro will make a reappearance one of these days! :thumbsup2

I know it seems like many problems, but I think all does get better & the trip was not all bad.:thumbsup2

You're right Doris. It actually does get better. But I haven't gotten there, so don't get ahead of me yet! :rotfl: In the battle of my brother and Disneyworld, the pixie dust eventually won!

The 10 year old would be on my list & I would make him pay in some diabolical way on my part.:smokin::rotfl2:

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

HE is usually so soft spoken and shy. I am certain Nick must have encouraged him to speak up.

Awaiting the more pleasant parts of the trip with the family! I did a family trip a couple of times & always say never again each time. That promise never seems to work out!:rolleyes1

You are so right about that. And there were some very pleasant parts of the trip!

Wow - that is hard to believe that she has never been in an amusement park. Ever? Is it possible that she might be so blown away with it that she'll love it. I was a Disneyworld resistor for awhile. I had no desire to go. That is, until I actually went there. Here I am - 17 trips later. :rotfl:

Looking forward to your further adventures!! (As well as the answer to the mystery!)

OK - the bun turns out to be not that much of a mystery, but there are still a few surprises left. :rolleyes1

My thoughts exactly, on both counts.

I hope Shortstuff's SIL ends up loving DL. You never know. It COULD happen! :)

Holy Cats! POTC 4 times and just skipping the parade? Makes me wonder (among other things) if they thought there wasn't much to MK... I can't imagine they didn't realize there was so much more they could do. But to each their own, right?

Yeah, I think I would have been just a TEENSY bit  at my DH if he threw me under that bus. I'd have been all, "well, think of it as a slow wake up process to get your butt up so we can get to the parks before NOON buddy." But then again, I am sort of hostile that way when I've gone out of my way to do something NICE for people and they absolutely don't appreciate it.

I've traveled with a large group too, but most of the time they have been to WDW before and all I did was plan the park days and some meals. I doubt staying all together in a treehouse would have worked well, but it we weren't chained together on our plans, it would have been ok. It must have been hard because they didn't "know" stuff like you do.

I don't like the sound of your next update- if someone ate your cinnamon roll...OOOH, :furious:

I actually think they probably thought exactly that. They probably didn't wait for anything with a real line and they didn't quite get the whole FP thing, which I thought was pretty self explanatory. It's too bad because I definitely think they need a do-over on the MK.

I really like Matt and he is usually so quiet and reserved. I couldn't go all park commando on him, but I do wish I hadn't been ambushed so I could politely explain why getting up early is essential.

Exactly. I actually can forget some of the simple things that newbies forget, so we were so mismatched in that respect, plus they don't care for thrill rides and we enjoy them.

If they had just done a little homework before they left, but live and learn, right?

Somebody did and it wasn't me........

Before the Cookie Toss

Today I had wanted to write about the cookie toss, but I don't think I will make it that far.

I realized that I had a partial upload failure on photobucket, so almost 40 of my parade pics didn't upload. I won't bore you with all the photos, but I have to post the better ones so you can actually see the end of the parade.

I kind of like these almost black and white ones.

This was the best picture I could get of Pinocchio. When he was facing meal he kept kneeling down to scratch his foot of something.

My, what big chompers you have!

I obviously had my distance lens on through this whole parade. I didn't need it. That's why this guy ended up in pieces.....

I want the driver's job - that's got to be fun!

The parade finale asks us to.....

IMG_3011.jpg

When I asked Matt if he saw any of the parade on the way out he said, "Oh Yeah. Honor America" I guess it wasn't a complete loss then?

I guess the good ol' red, white, and blue doesn't photograph well in the dark

IMG_3014.jpg

IMG_3016.jpg

Alrighty then. So where was I?

Oh Yeah. I grabbed my coffee pot, coffee, one mug for me (sorry Denny), creamer, sugar, a spoon, and my cinnamon bun and went to bed.

I slept great again. I hobbled out of bed a little after 7am. And when I say I hobbled, I mean that quite literally. My plantar fascitis had kicked up in my right foot, big time, and I couldn't even touch my heel to the ground. Yikes.

So basically standing on one foot I made coffee in the bathroom. Yuck! I do not like to make coffee in the same place where hair is washed and dried. But the counter space was ample and I didn't feel like switching everything to the small desk.

After some lovely caffeine, I was able to stretch out my foot enough to get my running shoes on. I wasn't going to let a little plantar fascitis keep me from running. The odd thing about my PF is that it doesn't bother me at all when I run. It's later, after sitting, that I feel the full effects.

So where was I headed today?

OKW, of course. When I stayed at OKW in December I never really found the path to SSR, but I knew where the origin of the path to OKW was. It just across the river and right behind my treehouse. I had a nice run. I'm not even sure where I ended up in OKW, but I ran far enough to see the Hospitality House and then I turned around and headed home.

I took a few cell pics while outside:

I think I must have run to OKW and then back towards the main part of SSR because I have a few pics from there.

When I got back it was pretty clear that Denny hadn't left the room yet, except, perhaps, to get himself the coffee mug which I conveniently forgot. Oops! Considering he made us prisoners there, it serves him right.

He said he was hungry and asked my what was in the (bun) bag. I told him it was my cinnamon bun from the night before. I offered him half because it was big and I didn't think I needed the whole thing, from a calorie point of view that is. Hah!

We got ready to go to the park. Today was AK day. Originally it was Epcot day, but all the crowd calendars suggested that AK would be a better choice. I originally had a Le Cellier lunch at Epcot (for Bro and SIL), which I canceled the day before. I thought they might enjoy a lunch together while we watched the kids. That never did end up happening - but more on that later.

When Denny and I went out into the LR, all the kids were still sleeping and I could not find my SIL/Bro anywhere. It was 8:15!

I checked on Nick. I knew he wouldn't be going to a park this morning. He seemed OK, but I could barely wake him, so I didn't try. Being the good mom that I am, I left him the other half of my cinnamon bun because I realized he would be foodless for awhile.

So while I never got to eat my own cinnamon bun, at least I decided to give it away. I need a cinnamon bun do-over.

I looked at Denny and said, "Let's go". If I thought I could have gotten LJ up, I would have, but he was out for the count, too.

As we were heading over to our car, SIL and bro were walking back from SSR. My SIL said, "Did you get the kids up?"

Oh, the irony! This is where I got just a tad bit snarky. I said, "I am NOT getting your kids up. You'll have to get your own kids up. Matt was quite clear with me last night when he asked not to be woken up. We're going to AK now. Just follow the signs. Call us when you get there."

Although I'd like to say that Denny and I got there at rope drop, I have to admit that we got there at "almost" rope drop, unless they had a soft opening. Not entirely sure.

By the time we got back to EE the wait time was posted at 20 mins. We got FP's and Denny suggested we wait in line. There were already people out to the front of the queue, but it couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes to get through.

A few pictures along the way.....

The line really sped up as we got closer to the end of the queue, so my pictures got less frequent.

IMG_3086.jpg

I wanted to get my camera packed away properly because I broke the rim on my distance lens on this ride in December. I guess I didn't pack it well and I must have put some pressure on the actual lens.

We whisked past the single rider queue and I noticed there was no one in it. Darn. Denny was too far ahead of me to pull him back into it.

The ride was great, as always, and it produced that adrenaline kick that I always seem to need in the morning to get me fully awake. Success!

Crappy cell phone pic. We are in the second row! Put your hands in the air!

I think we started heading in the direction of the Safari when my SIL called me to say they were arriving at the park. I told them to walk towards the tree of life and we would meet them there.

I took some park pics while waiting

I felt like we waited a LONG time, but we struck up a conversation with a lovely CM who was doing the college program or a post college program internship. She was from Texas and had just graduated from Cornell with a degree in birds. OK, I know that a bird degree has to have a name, but I don't remember and I don't feel like looking it up. (Denny says it Orinthology) She did tell me that Cornell has the number one bird, I mean Orinthology, program in the country. Who knew?

She told us about this little guy

IMG_3100.jpg

I don't remember his name either, all I know is he's NOT a bird. I am flunking AK 101 this morning. Sorry!

Oh, look, here's a bird. She told us something about him/her, but I forgot that little factoid as well.

sheesh!

My bro and family arrived at 10:10am. Hey - at least they are 2 for 2. I suggested that we head right over to FOTLK. It was starting at 10:30, its a great show, and its something everyone can enjoy it.

Our view.

I don't remember what the rule was here on flash photography, but I obviously did not use it.

And for good measure, why don't just set your crotch on fire?

IMG_3195.jpg

Oh yeah - I rock!

And now I have to take a break.

Up Next.....Exactly what IS a cookie toss?

Love the update! You have some terrific pictures!

Ed suffers from PF also. And he says the same thing - he doesn't feel it when he's running, only when walking/standing around. Luckily, it hasn't flared up in a good while. I hope it didn't bother you in the parks.

I don't blame you one bit for not waking up your nephews. There is no way I would have woken them up either. And I'm sorry you didn't have your cinnamon roll. I hope you were able to get another one later in the trip to enjoy. I'm especially feeling your pain about the cinnamon roll because all I wanted for breakfast this morning was a cinnamon roll from Cinnabon. Ed & Reid went out to get me one & they weren't open. :headache:

I'm a bit scared about the cookie toss. I'm wondering if it is what I think it is. :confused3

This update was right up my alley! Expedition Everest and Festival of the Lion King are two my absolute favorite Disney things! :goodvibes

I can't blame you for getting a little 'snarky' like you said. They're not your kids. Not your job to wake them up!

Ok now I'm wondering what a cookie toss is. I'm having fun making up things it might be in my head though.
Wow, even more beautiful parade pictures! Very nice job. :thumbsup2 Such a gorgeous parade. I can't wait to see it again! :woohoo:
Too bad you didn't get your cinnamon bun, but you're so maternal, giving your prized pastry to your family. I was happy to read that it was your decision, after your hints I thought maybe someone stole it while you were out on your run!
Oh how ironic of your SIL, asking if you got her kids up. :lmao: I don't blame you one ounce for getting your back up a little! And good for you for just heading out to AK with a "I'm going, you can meet me there!" attitude. Love it! :thumbsup2
You got some really nice pics in FOTLK and in the EE queue! That's my favourite thing about AK I think, it's all so photogenic!

Great pictures as always!

I feel that I never spend as much time in AK as I should, maybe due to the heat. The details are so intricate and beautiful, and you really captured a good deal of them, so I'm impressed!

I'm intrigued by the cookie toss and am excited to read more soon!

Oh I want to check out that path if it isn't too miserable out. Interesting that your plantar fasciitis doesn't impact your running but very cool that it doesn't! How classic that she asked you if you'd woken the kids, I'd have been snarky too and a tad annoyed that they'd just left for a walk without leaving a note!

Wonderful FOTLK pics, that may be the single most thing I'm looking forward too, I can't wait!

After the message that was conveyed to you right before you went to bed, they ask you if you got the kids up???!!! :furious:

How did you hold it together?

I like your pictures from EE. So you broke the rim of a lens in December? But you didn't actually have the camera out...just not put away well enough?

Your run path that morning looks beautiful! I always forget that things by DTD are really close together! The Characters in Flight balloon looks so close!

Oh boy...I probably would have been a little snarky too at that point! :rolleyes1

AWESOME FOTLK photos!!! You got some beautiful shots!! I am almost positive that flash photography IS allowed there, and I remember being really surprised that it was!

I love the pictures!! i've never seen FOTLK. That's another must do for our trip!! LOL!

I have to admit that I absolutely love your snarkyness. LOL! I probably would have said the same thing. Because my patience would have been tested by that point as well. LOL!

I'm glad that they all made it though! LOL!

I love the pictures of the treehouses. They look awesome! Maybe one day we can stay there. LOL!!

I'm really wondering about the cookie toss.... LOL!!

I know I would have been snarky, if not downright angry, if after I had been lectured about waking up kids, giving away my cinnamon roll, and finding the parents gone, I was asked that question. I would had been

On the bright side - glad you got on EE and got some nice pictures too!! We are contemplating trying EE for the first time on our next trip.

Caught up with your updates now. I am glad you finally got to see MSEP, crazy that your SIL left before it started! I was disappointed that I missed it this past trip, but I hope that by my next trip (2014!) Spectro is back in some form, I really like that one.

Sorry you didn't get to eat your cinnamon roll but I was glad to know that you at least willingly gave it away and nobody snatched it :)

Curious to find out what this "Cookie Toss" is...
