I plan on it. Originally I was going to have my TA do it but her mother in law died yesterday and will not be around. So, I will make the reservation, then transfer it to her.

To get what you want, it's always best to phone as soon as promo is released rather then wait. Availibility will be greatly reduced as you wait, promos book up rather quick.

I'll be checking on package prices and comparing them to my room only reservation (plus tickets from UT). Not sure if I'm going to switch from a room only to a package, but something tells me I probably will because it just seems like it's much easier. I've never done a room only reservation, so this will be interesting. Also debating on whether or not to drive or fly there. I'm going at the beginning of January, so it might be a little risky to drive (depending on the weather). We'll see!

Total noob here....what you're saying is that Wednesday will have a certain number of promo packages available that may be lower than later on when they are trying to fill rooms? When will free DP be announced?
Planning on last week of feb which appears to be an off peak time between presidents day and spring break.

No, I think Sue M thought you might have been talking about FD...you're just talking about regular packages, right?

FD for next year will likely not be announced, if at all, for quite some time.

Wednesday is the day the package rates are released for 2013.

Normally, they are not released until August, but last year they were released in June. People have been chomping at the bit to book for next year, since it was released so early last year.

FD for Visa holders came out TODAY. I booked it before 8 am.

The FD is only for Oct-Dec 2012 dates. Early 2013 promos won't be out until late summer/early fall.

Those and perhaps getting the ability to pay it off more slowly.

I go the week after Thanksgiving just about every year and book about a week after I get home. I book what I can afford, make a payment monthly and then if a good promo comes along, I apply it to my ressie. Sometimes I take the savings, sometimes I take the upgrade. It all depends, but I never go into it praying that I will get FD or room discount so I can afford to go.

I have taken friends that like the ability to pay off over time and if we get a break, all the better.

I got my Disney Visa in the mail today, and my ADR date is Thursday. So yeah, I'll be calling Wednesday to change my room reservation to a package. Probably not first thing in the morning though. I'm not really a morning person when it's unnecessary, haha.

I already sent my reservation request to my TA (Dreams Unlimited) so I will be waiting to hear from them tomorrow. Ready to get this trip booked!
