geez lol so far im the only one getting it here lmaooo

You know, I'm debating it. I'm pretty sure I already had it based on my symptoms, but also the fact that a friend of mine tested + and she started out the exact same way as I did.

Gotta talk to my parents more about it.

Sometimes I wonder if the Gardasil shot made me relapse...

Yep, I won't be getting that anytime soon.

Swine Flu is just the flu.
I don't even get the flu vaccine.
Even if it wasn't as new as it is, I wouldn't get it.

Not really. I mean, the symptoms are pretty much plain old flu but the logistics of it is different.
Having had the swine flu, I'll tell you it's not that bad if you pay attention to it. Symptoms come on fast so you have to act immediately and get the Tamiflu ASAP. I was fine one night, woke up in the morning with a sore throat, and by that night I could barely talk and was hacking up a lung. I won't lie, I haven't felt that bad since I was on chemo. But, it was over within a week and I probably won't get it again. And, this is coming from someone with a week immune system.
It's really not as bad as the media makes it out to be, as long as you have a supply of Tamiflu, cough drops, and Nyquil - you'll be fine.

I'm more worried about the side effects of the shot than the flu itself. I have no conditions that make me afraid to get it. Everyone i know who has had it, has lived and wasn't sick for too long.
I'd rather not be paralyzed kthnx.
I'll just get my regular flu shot because I always do.

nope. I haven't gotten very many vaccines in my life. just the ones required for college, really.

I did get the Gardasil shot, though, but that's because my mom had cervical cancer (the reason she was supposed to never be able to have kids. I was a "surprise"). And I got the HPV shot because my doctor strongly reccommended it to me.

I never get sick. My immune system is fantastic.

I will not.
1) I already had the swine flu.
2) The shot is too new with not enough information on it's side effects. In the 1970s, the swine flu vaccine hurt more people than it helped! (Guillian-Barre anyone?)

I had guillian-barre last year, so i can't really get any vaccines anymore.

Oh! My friend has GBS right now. Im not sure if you guys remember her, her name was hannahbannana on here her father passed away lasy year with a brain tumor. Anyways about a month ago she was complaining of tingling in her hands and feet so a couple weeks later her mom took her to a doctor then sent her to a nuerologist then sent her down to the cleveland clinic. She has been having an awful time she aspirated had to get a spinal tap, colonoscopy, a test where she had a tube down her throat, and a nose feeding tube. She lost a lot of weight but now after being in the hospital for 27 days she should be coming home. She is going to miss the first month or so of school so it sucks. But this has been quite the expirence for her she got to meet two saudi arabian princesses. And in two days is her birthday so one of the body guards is going to give her flowers. I thought it was kinda neat but now she can finally stand up on her own she was in a wheelchair for like ever but she is now doing a tad bit better.

I put other. I'd prefer not to get the vaccine and I'll do everything possible to avoid it, but I have asthma, which puts me in the high risk category. I'm probably gonna end up getting it D:

same. i think i have every shot i need, save for the meningitis. the only reason i don't have that yet is because in my state, we don't need it before college. i will be getting it though.
gardasil is just too new with too many varied side effects. with my somewhat weakened immune system, it's a no.

I've had two separate shots for meningitis. I think it was in grade 5 or 6 and then when they came up with another vaccine, I got it again in grade 9.
I'm thinking I'm pretty well protected for that.

Other than my yearly flu shot, my next vaccination will be for mumps, in grade 12.

Yeah I wish I had it but mom, doctors, and school say I don't need it for another 2 years. Meningitis is something that scares the bejebus outta me. I don't share drinks/eating utensils/chapsticks/etc for intense fear of it. If I forget and accidently share something, I'll spend the next two weeks freaking out about every headache and neck twinge.

I just had a tetanus shot and I'm finishing my 2-step PPD. Other than my yearly flu shot (needed because I'm high risk), I won't be getting any more shots until college entry.

Nope unless the doctor shoves it down my arm which is a strong possibility
They have shoved everyother vaccine down my arm anyways :P

Yeah I was worried about it... I think in grade nine. At some point a girl from a local high school died from it. And a kid who went to my school had it, and it was really bad, but he somehow got over it. He missed a crapload of school tho.

Actually, since my immune system was wiped out and I'm getting boosters of all my childhood immunizations, maybe I can't get it if I wanted to.

I'll probably get the normal flu shot though.

(What is GBS?)

Unless it became a huge pandemic, I will not be getting it.

I just read about the vaccination. More than likely I will be getting it since I have asthma and on the priority list..according to our government.

no way. i have a huge phobia of needles. i refused to get the cervical cancer one and i'm overdue for my tetanus booster. i'm planning to avoid travelling to countries other than USA and european countries so i dont have to get shots.

plus, everyone who has died of swine flu (that i've heard of) has had pre-existing health conditions. i'm pretty healthy, so i dont see the point.

If I could I would but I can't.
Its made in eggs the same way as the regular flu shot which means i can't get it b/c i'm allergic to eggs. I should be getting it, i'm considered extremely high risk b/c of my asthma with a history of pneumonia every year and my immunosuppresent drugs i'm on.

I am supposed to be getting the pneumonia vaccine this year though. For the past 6 years, i always get the flu and it turns into pneumonia which than means at least a few days in the hospital as a precaution. This past flu season, i got pneumonia twice and both times ended up in respiratory failure so my doctors all want me to get the pneumonia vaccine b/c another bout of pneumonia could kill me. I now have permanant lung damage b/c of the pneumonia.

No. I probably wont get it. Not for a while at least. I don't want to try some new vaccine right when it comes out not knowing the side affects, etc.
