Will you add on at the Poly?

We will not. We bought our first three contracts directly from Disney at $60-65 per point. We added on a few years ago and bought those contracts via resale, again at $60-65 per point.

Personally, and this is just me, I could never bring myself to pay the current direct prices (close to double that of resale) from Disney. The restrictions on resale points don't bother me (we wouldn't use them for the Disney or Concierge Collections) so I would only purchase via that route from now on. That said, I don't need to stay at any particular resort. I like all of them and am perfectly happy with staying at any of them. We do have some BWV points for F&WF time but, other than that, we're happy anywhere. We have used our points at all of the WDW DVC properties, Hilton, Vero and at the VGC at Disneyland. I expect we'll give the Polynesian a try at some point as well.

Actually when I saw the first plans that involved several new buildings and the new pool I started to give it serious thought. Then when DVC did their step back and switched to refurbing 2 longhouses, no new feature pool, and from reports only doing studios my interest fell swiftly. We'll still see what they come up with but it went from having qualities that would encourage us to buy to having qualities that would discourage us.

I was ready to when it was first announced however now will have to wait and see about the room layouts. If it is true that there will be no 1BR that kills it for us. We don't need a 2BR and like more space than a studio provides.

Our first WDW stay was at the Poly in 2000. We had two more stays, in 2001(after 9/11 when rooms were dirt cheap) and 2006. We still visit at least once a trip for dinner or just a monorail ride. I don't need to buy there though, because I've done that. I want to stay at DVC resorts I haven't ever stayed in. I want to check out BCV and OKW, and someday VGF.
By the way, big families, enjoy it. When we bought we were traveling with three kids and needed a 2 BR. Now the oldest is married, and the middle is in college (different spring break and work in summer so doesn't travel with us). This next trip we booked a studio because only our 16 year old will be with us, and this may be his last trip.

Well I wasn't going to buy in before
Well after reading the latest news (confirming post above) we will definitely NOT be buying in at all!

Will you be adding on at the Poly regardless of how much it is to add on direct? popcorn::[/QUOTE]

I am interested in possibly buying a small 50 point add on contract, but will wait to see the cost per point, the amount of points required to book, and the dues. It doesn't bother me that there are going to be a lot of studios there as probably only 2 of us would be staying there occasionally and we would prefer a studio for fewer points anyway. My family used to stay at the Poly in the 80's and I have a lot of great memories from staying there. It really seems like a great location as you can hop the monorail to the MK and it is only a short walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center for a monorail ride to EPCOT.

No, I am not interested, at all.

First, for the past few years, I have been using my AKV points/contracts to book 8- or 9-night stays at the end of August. With the exception of BCV, studios and 1-bedrooms are generally available at the 7-month mark.

Second, I now have 2 home resorts and do not want a third. When the time comes, I would rather add on to my currents resorts, for larger villas and longer stays, than have a small contract elsewhere.

Also, for what it's worth, there are some rumors circulating that Tahiti will be a traditional DVC conversion and Rapa Nui will be purely studios. If the latter is true, then the Polynesian will have the greatest studio inventory on the monorail beam.

While I am very interested in Poly for location (can walk to TTC) and theme, I think the buy in and point costs to own and stay there will be too much. I don't even mind that it might be all studios (and the bungalows). I need a MK area resort in my mix, but might be better to go with BLT or VWL resale.

I just do not see the savings by owning DVC at $140pt. and more. At those prices promos and cash stays are just as competitive. We won't be purchasing Poly or any new DVC in the future. Disney has priced us out.

Sure I would love to add on to the Poly, but I won't. The only way is if I hit the lottery. The rumors I have heard on the amount of points that is needed to stay is more than enough for me to say no way. I have hear 2-3 points per night higher than the VGF and I have also heard that to stay in the rooms on the water its the equivalent to Staying in a 3 Bedroom at VGF; while you only get a 2 bedroom at the poly.

Ouch.. Is all I can say!

I wanted to add but I highly doubt we will. We've got 470 points which has been working fine for us since 2010. As much as I want Poly points, I can't justify the cost right now. :(

I agree, plus I am getting to the age that it doesn't make sense to me to be buying any new DVC resorts.

Wait a minute...I am 64 and still dream of staying at a Poly DVC !!

I figure that it will retain the bulk of its value 5 and maybe 10 years out. I could sell it at that time. Meanwhile, do you think that you could get into any of those studios at 7 months? My guess which would be 20% point inflation over VGF for 1 week Adventure season (Dec. 1 - 14). Look at ONLY 3 room categories:
std studio 150 points
lake view studio 178 points
Grand Villa 990 points.

DH really wants the Poly - me not so much. I love the Poly lobby, lounge and O'Hanna's but the last time we stayed there - which, was a long time ago ... 2001 - the mold smell was driving me nuts. Apparently I was the only one. :confused3

I did finally get DH to agree to ... possibly ... sell the AK contract with the idea of the Poly but he wants to wait to see if DVC is going to do what they did with the GF and start lower. I want to wait because right now the AK contract is stripped but I've been looking at pricing and it seems to me that November / December is a good time to list because the pickings get slim. ;)

We won't be looking to add any DVC points unless they decide to build another resort on the west coast. (Wishful thinking...) I wish we would have bought into GC. Sigh...

Not likely to buy direct, but I do love Poly. I tend to not let my emotions rule over my wallet but, I do buy where I want to stay. Maybe resale in 4 or 5 years if MFs are not crazy.

No we will not be adding on.

We have been good and holding at 460 for a long time now (I did purchase 100 SSR points for my son 18 months ago - part of wedding gift).

Will take my chances at the 7 month mark or waitlist if I so desire. Still have to try BLT, then VGF and then will try the Poly. :goodvibes

Would love to but can no longer justify the buy in cost not the high points per night values. If Poly continues the trend of BLT and VGF, it just won't be worth it.
