I thought I had read on this board that add-ons at WLV would be available after Feb. 3, however new members could not buy there. Does anyone know if this is the case? We would like to add-on 100 points at WLV, however, we need to figure out our taxes first and we are still waiting on some information to be able to do our taxes.

Most of the dates mentioned here are speculative. Your best bet is to call your DVC rep to see what kind of timetable they anticipate.

Several members of the forum have picked up the same info from their Guides (including us). However, as Regina said, call your Guide or the sales number and verify the information.

ralphd:) :) :) :) :)

At the OKW member's update last Tuesday, the CM stated that VWL sales would end to non-members on Feb 2. Add-ons to members wil still be available until the resort is completely sold out. As of last week, all use years were still available. She stated that she expects complete sell out by the summer.

It appears to me that the Feb 2 date is pretty solid, but the sell out expectation is opinion only. She also stated that BCV sales would begin on Feb 3, but only in states where approval has been granted. I'm confident that FL sales will be approved by the 3rd. ;)

as I just found out the hard way. Go ahead and call any guide you want, but the harsh reality is that they have no way of knowing when the points may suddenly be purchased. After several phone calls since the end of November (and asking for guidance on how long I could safely wait), we put it off, waiting to see if we needed to spend $$$ on some medical bills or could use that towards buying 50 points. Now December use-year is gone and I was stunned to find out that we're not given the option of doing an add-on at VWL with another use-year. I know it may be confusing to manage, but I'm really pretty good at math. I, naively, thought that as long as ANY points were available at VWL, we could buy them. Our options are to be on a wait list to purchase 'returned' points ----- we're told to have NO expectations that this will come through; do an add on somewhere else; or try to get a 50 point resale.

Our guide went on vacation and another guide had the pleasure of breaking all this news to me. Needless to say, I don't understand why this wasn't explained earlier. This guide has a totally different way of presenting information that is basically 'if you don't want to lose out, don't take a chance by waiting because there's absolutely no way to predict'.

Oh, yes, and the first guide is the one who absolutely, positively told me we could do MB with a 50 point VWL add-on. When I asked him to confirm this the following month (after reading different info on this board), he didn't correct this mistake then. It was several weeks later that he finally realized he's told me the wrong information. I know you posted differently, Doc, and tried to warn me, but I'd like to be able to believe that a guide is giving me accurate info. It seems that they can be just as ill-informed as some of the notorious CRO staff. This made a big difference to us because we're determined to pay cash and $5OO from MB would have made a big difference.

PS. I've already figured out that we can do MB for a 50 pt add on at HH and save $$$. Any other suggestions? Thanks for listening to me rant and rave.

kda, I would just wait... put your name on the waitlist for December points.. I bet 50 points will appear for you....

Under the same circumstances, and also assuming VWL is where I wanted to spend my vacations. I would call my Guide and get on the waitlist for 50 points at VWL. Would do as Chris said, take the chance on getting the points.
As they say 'this is a judgement call'.

ralphd:) :)
