Will we have time to do breakfast at Ohana or should I cancel?

Our flight out leaves at 12:30 p.m., and I booked us breakfast at Ohana for that morning at 7:40. We are staying at ASMu, so as I understand it, we would catch a bus to the TTC, then another one to the Polynesian. Disney Dining told me to leave 1 1/2 hours early to get over to the Polynesian :scared1:, so I guess I'd have to allow that to get back to ASMu to catch the ME. I'm guessing we would take the ME around 9:30 AM to the airport (carryons only, no checked baggage) so does this mean I'm going to have to cancel our breakfast reservations because there's no way we'll make it? I'm allowing about an hour for breakfast, which puts us at 8:40, only 50 minutes from our ME departure time. I was hoping that with the early reservation, they wouldn't be too backed up yet for seating, but maybe I'm way off on that. We've never done a table service before in our lives, so this is all new to us. Thanks!

Sorry, there is no way you'll make it.

The absolute earliest you would be out of there would be about 8:45. It would probably be closer to 9:00. I would plan on it taking about 45 minutes to an hour to get back to you resort.

You will most likely be scheduled for ME at 9:30, which means you need to be at the bus stop, ready to go by 9:15.

OK, thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. I don't want to be all stressed out and rushed with breakfast worrying if we are going to miss our ME bus. So I guess we'll cancel and see if we can find anything on another day.

probaby still cutting it close but you could always just take a taxi from poly to your resort.

As other's have indicated you would really be cutting it close and if you miss your ME bus then you'd have to find your own way to the airport...but I just wanted to let you know that the above information is incorrect, there is no bus from the resort to the TTC. You would actually have to take a bus to the MK and then the monorail from the MK over to the Poly, or if the boats are running that early a boat from the MK over to the Poly. I do not think that it would take an hour and a half but it could take about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how you catch a bus etc.
But that said, I don't think you'd even be able to do this if you took a taxi both ways, and that might be a bit pricy. Figure an hour for breakfast, so you'd need to get out and get a taxi back to the Allstar resort. You will need to be at the ME bus stop 15 minutes prior to your posted pick up time. You'd be cutting it way too close.

Let's do it time-wise...you will be given a DME pickup time sometime between 9:20 and 9:40. You need to back at the resort, Music, ready to go, by 9:00, maybe 9:10. You need to be at the bus stop, carryon bags in hand, ready to board the bus, 15 mins before the time they give you...so you can see how that time could change.
If you have a 7:40 ADR at the Polynesian...be out at the MK bus stop, at Music, by 6:30. When you get on the bus, ask the driver what the quickest route to the Polynesian is....monorail or boat. If you're lucky, the driver will offer to drop you at the Polynesian on his way out, if that's possible. If he doesn't, you will need to get over to the Polynesian...the monorail can take up to 20 mins..depending on your wait time. So..if you get on a MK bus, at 6:30, you should be at the MK by 6:50 or so...again, depending on wait times. This should give you plenty of time to get to the Polynesian. In fact, you should be able to arrive early. And if that happens, you may be able to be seated early. But, for the sake of argument, let's assume you get seated at 7:40. If it takes you an hour to eat, then you'll be ready to leave by 8:45. I wouldn't mess with Disney transportation...way too much room for error. Just take a cab. It will be a bit pricey...maybe as high as $20. But at least you'll be back at the resort...barely...in time for the bus.

Now...if it were me?? I wouldn't do it. Way too much stress for my last morning. I would grab a bite to eat at the food court and relax for a bit. Much less stressful.

I missed my ME bus last year and was simply put on the next bus that came along about 30 minutes later. ME gets you to the airport so early, it really didnt make any difference. We were still at the airport almost 2 hours before our flight and walked around and shopped at the airport.

But Disney has no obligation to do that.

What if there wasn't another bus? The bus doesn't stop at a resort if there aren't any passengers scheduled.

What if there was another bus, but it was full?

A pretty big risk to take intentionally.

Thanks for all your replies. I was able to cancl and reschedule our breakfast for our "off" day in the middle of the week, instead. I think I will enjoy breakfast a lot more without worrying about whether or not we are going to miss our bus.

Not always possible. The DME do not automatically stop at every resort, every 30 mins. Let's say you're at BW. You were supposed to get on the bus at 1:30, but you missed it. You figure you'll just hop on the bus that arrives around 2:00. But one of two things could happen...
1. there are no other guests at BW who needed DME until 3:00, so the bus won't be stopping there until then.
or
2. The 2:00 bus is too full to allow you and your party onboard. They are obligated to provide space to those who are booked on that bus..not those who missed a previous bus.

If either of these two scenarios happen, you would be on your own getting back to MCO.

You missed your bus, but to plan to not take your ME bus and take the later one isn't fair to those that arrive on time for their scheduled ME bus. Two years ago, we arrived the 15 minutes early to get on our ME bus as told to do so on our paperwork. There was a group that arrived while we were waiting who spoke to the ME rep. standing there and got on first because they missed their earlier ME bus (not sure why). Because the ME bus was so packed, we (and a few others) did not get on and had to wait for the next ME bus. I wasn't worried about not making our flight, I was bummed because we waited at the bus stop 40 minutes to catch the bus that finally took us to the airport (this includes the wait time for the original bus) when we could have been doing something else.

And that's the basic problem. That group should not have been allowed on the bus....period. I would have sent a note off to DME and Disney, telling them of this experience. There needs to be consistency. It's really hard to explain the system to someone and then have another person come along and say that 'oh, we were able to do that with no problem. Disney doesn't care.' That drives me nuts. Someone else sees that, and assumes it's going to work that way for them as well...and then we all have to listen to them rant and rave when they return, telling us that they got bad advice from us when they had to get themselves back to the airport because the DME driver did exactly what he was supposed to do...deny someone access past their bus time due to an already full bus.

The OP was able to change their reservation. For the benefit of others reading this thread...I prefer to just hang out in my resort. Take some pictures. Relax have a meal in my resort or a location I can walk to.

Some people want to have one last meal. The OP only has carryon luggage. Their reservation was for 7:40. They could have a car service pick them up at the POLY at 10:00. That would get them to MCO at about 10:30, 2 full hours before their flight. They only have carryon luggage. They could probably get to MCO 60-90 minutes before their flight.

People who want to stretch their vacation, and end it at a location other then their own resort just need to add $50-$60 to the cost of their trip and use a car service. Alternately ask if you can have DME pick you up at POLY. AFAIK Everyone who's asked has been told no but if enough people ask Disney may rethink their policy.
