Will we get in anywhere?

Just wondering...We made our reservations about a month ago for November 22-26. We are two families with 8 total and are not planning to spend every minute together. So.. with the exception of one ADR that I made for all eight of us...will we be able to get in anywhere as walk ups, either as a foursome or all together. The last time I was at Disney was before the advent of the DDP and it was never a problem. Now it seems that you have to know where you will be and when you'll be hungry and what you feel like months ahead of time.

Is it possible to try walking up and waiting like at other restaurants?

It might be difficult with the free dining promo going on and with your party size as well. I would suggest calling and trying to make some ADR's so at least you guys won't have to wait around. Hope everything works out for ya!

Walkins MIGHT be a possibility at the less popular resort restaurants, but you will most likely be turned away from all in-park TS. You are going during Thanksgiving week, which is very busy, and many, many people made their ADRs 180 days out.

I'd suggest maybe trying to call for some ADRs now to have some plans in place. You can always cancel, but if you can't get in at other restaurants by walking up, you will at least have a backup plan. If you are dead set against making plans ahead of time, go to restaurants at off times- very early dinners, very late lunches- for a better chance of being seated. Also, if you know where you will be on a certain day, try walking up to Guest Services first thing in the morning and see if there are any ADRs available that day for the TS places in the park. You can also call from your cell when you are ready to eat- sometimes the restaurant will not let you wait, but you can luck into a last minute ADR on the phone.

Good luck- hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Know what CS is available where you are each day- you might end up eating there frequently.

You could try the Swan & Dolphin restaurants. They're usually not full. Also, ESPN, Big River Grill, & Beaches & Cream don't take ADRs. There may be more. If none of those appeal to you, try the restaurants that don't take DDP.

We're taking a fairly last minute trip (by WDW standards) starting 11/26. I was able to get a dinner ADR every evening by choosing Signature Restaurants. You may get lucky with those too. Breakfast &/or lunch ADRs were easier to get.

Thanks for all the advice. I really appreciate it. If we have to eat at cs places, so be it. We are not doing the dining plan so we don't have to worry about credits. I will check out the signature restaurants as suggested and also try day of ressies and just hope for the best and prepare for the worst. We are on vacation...no worries.

Dolphin Fountain (a step up from a CS)
bluezoo (at Dolphin, not kid-friendly)
Big River (Boardwalk)
ESPN (arcade attached if you have to wait)
Yak and Yeti (new, so not that popular yet)
Bongos (DTD)
Captain Jack's (altho we were turned away back in August, but usually you can get in)
Maya Grill (CSR)
Shutters (CBR)

We have done walk-ups to Spoodles and Cape May more times than I can count -- and during free dining too. I've done it as a party of two, four, and eight.

As previous poster suggested, some of the resort restaurants are less crowded.

If you want to eat in the MK, try making a reservation at Plaza Restaurant. It isnt fancy--soup and sandwiches and great ice cream sundaes, but you can usually get a reservation. I dont think you will be successful if you just walk up though. You can also try Teppen Edo in Epcot if you like Japanese food. I have gotten ressies there without booking 180 days out.
