I don't relish the thought of putting my fingers where thousands of others have, including a family member who has had chemo and definately does not want to share germs with others, can you just show your id instead of the finger scan?????

You really only touch it for less than 5 seconds. By the time you think about it it's done and you're out of the turnstiles.

I imagine you would be free to wipe the surface with an antibacterial wipe before putting your finger on it- not sure though. Of course you could wash/wipe your hands after with antibacterial cleanser.

The CM's are very helpful. Call Guest Relations, if you really need to know early. My mom will be post chemo after this trip too, so I do understand concern. We will be having her use purell several times a day. But we do that when she visits the hopsital or the grocery too! Gotta keep those counts high!

I was there in May, and went to all four parks. My one friend and I never had the bioscan at all, my sister had the bioscan in two of the four parks, and the other friend had the bioscan in one of the parks. We were always entering the parks together, so I have no clue why it was so random. They did not seem to be enforcing the bioscan issue at that particular time, so I would be suprised if they would force you to do the bioscan if you gave the CM a valid reason for not doing the bioscan.

Yes, you have to touch it. Or show ID and hold up the line, but the CM is going to try to force you touch it.

Sorry, but if you are "paranoid" Disney is NOT the place to go. NOTHING there is sanitary. Lots of little kids and others climbing over and touching everything. (hand rails, all of the ride seats etc...) Things are cleaned maybe once a day. The bioscan is the LEAST of your concerns, those 5 seconds are a lot less dangerous then the railings or ride cars.

to answer a few things. 1. YES the tickets are/and have ALWAYS been Non Transferable. 2. Even in the past you weren't supposed to "share" the tickets. Disney is just now enforcing this rule due to loss of revenue. 3. Bioscan is needed to identify the tickets -ESPECIALLY- the Resort ones. Buy them at the gate and I'm not sure. 4. If you have an issue with the BIOSCAN I suggest you go to Guest Services and ask about it. There will always be people who think they are above the law/rules, and they will always get mad when someone questions their integrity. That's just the way th cookie crumbles.

I did read somewhere (sorry, can't recall where) that if the passes were bought together, they will be linked to the same reservation number, and therefore if you pick up your husband's or vice versa, it will still work -- the computer will locate your scan and okay you. HOWEVER, if you buy them separately, they will not be so linked, and if you don't match, you're out of luck.

How can using a family members ticket be a loss of revenue? The ticket was purchased..someone is going to use it or lose it. Are you suggesting that it should go unused and a familly member should purchase a new ticket to give Disney "more" revenue? What about all the food and souvenirs that family member would purchase? THAT is where the true revenue comes in.

I dont think that is why Disney did this - but that is just my opinion

I think the loss of revenue comes in when you consider how affordable they have now made longer stays - I mean the difference in a 5 & 7 day ticket is what $5 or $6 bucks?? Disney will make more off of 2 - 4 day tickets than an 8 day ticket. So yes it does cost Disney money. However....I understand the rationality of wanting to share tickets....it's killing me that I will be paying for 4 day tickets for my mom and dad because they aren't likely to go back. I will though because it's the rule. Just like if we decide to take our 2006 trip in December instead of September I will pay for my 3 year and 1 month old daughter a ticket. Not to say I'm better than anyone else....just to say that I personally couldn't intentionally break the rule. But I firmly believe that every person should have their own set of values and no one else should try to force theirs on anyone else.

We just returned at the beginning of June. We had purchased tickets through Ticketmania and were required to do the bio-scan upon entry each day into the park.

Sometimes....the bio-scan part of the gate was not operational and they would just let you get through with your ticket and no scan (depending on which line you were in). But, most of the time....we were required to do the scan.

As for the moral issues....I don't know anyone that has not broken a rule or law at some point in their life. Have you ever driven just 1 mph over the posted speed limit? Have you ever passed another slow moving vehicle (car, tractor, etc) in a no passing zone? Have you ever "gunned it" to try to make a yellow light and actually caught the red light but continued anyway? Have you or your child ever left a store without paying for something insignificant (candy bar, etc) and after arriving home realized what you did...but, did not think it was worth a long drive back to the store for such an insignificant amount of money?

These are all laws that get broken every day...and I'm sure there are probably hundreds more.

I don't personally know everyone here...but, don't preach about breaking laws or rules unless you have never broken any rule or any law in your entire life. That's my opinion.

Yes - you can choose not to do the scan and instead present your picture id to enter the park with your pass. One in our party last February did this every time and never had any problem and we park hopped every day.

Those are still valid and the bioscan is not used for them.

However, if you use them to upgrade to a newer ticket, you'll be getting a bioscan ticket.

While I can see the OP has had the question answered, I am really surprised at some of the responses... Has anyone on these boards EVER given away bball tickets, concert tickets, sporting event tickets because they can't use them??? What really is the big deal?

As for the ticket purchase....yes it does seem a bit wasteful to purchase a 10 day hopper and then only use part of the day. However, to purchase the non-expirey option adds to the cost too.

I think WDW switched to these tickets so that each person entering WDW will need to purchase their own ticket - no partial tickets sold on ebay, no trading tickets with your neigbor, etc. If you are going for under 5 days, it will cost you more per day. if you are going for 7-10 days, then you are getting a better per day price.

Speedyf - I do take offense to your post that most people have broken laws! That is quite a general statement to make about people. I for one do not pass a slow moving vehicle in a no passing zone, nor do I run yellow/red lights. I have not gotten home for the store with something neither I nor my chidlren have "picked up". I do not drive above the posted speed limit, I don't lie, cheat or steal. Golly, I don't even swear. I am by no means perfect....but I pride myself on being a good law abidding citizen and good mom and a great WDW fan.

Wouldn't it be in every one's interest to simply answer the thread questions without personal attacks?

Not everyone knows the rules- we need to ASSUME that the OP does not know and we can then educate them. Isn't that what we are here for?

I have learned lots of things about room capacity, no toasters in the rooms, no pool hopping, etc. that I would not have known about or known to avoid doing because of the "Laws of Disney".

Isn't it the spirit of these boards to help and to be sure we all have the best possible vacation ever?
