Will we get anything done at MK?

Hi guys! Looking for some advice here...

On Tuesday, May 18 DH and I are planning on starting the day at EPCOT and then moving over to MK in mid afternoon to see Spectro that evening.

My question: will we be able to get anything done at MK when we get there? We were planning on having dinner there and then seeing Spectro/Wishes, but will we be able to see any attractions? I know that at that point, FP will probably be gone. I just don't want to get over there and find out that the lines are huge and we only get to do one or two attractions. I believe Spectro is at 8:30 that night with Wishes at 9:30.

What do you think? Any thoughts or plans that might be better are welcomed!!

I'd love to know the answer to this, too. May 18th is my birthday and our last day at WDW. I want to see Wishes that night. Do you think that the park will be too crazy to enjoy anything beforehand?

What would be a good time for dinner PS's? Right now I have a fairly early one (5:30 pm). Would it be better to get a slightly later one?

Thanks for any information/help!

Beth

Rather than worry about getting anything "done" it could be nice just to have dinner and stroll around and get a good spot for the parade. You might still be able to pick up a fast pass for something before dinner but it would probably be more fun to shop or stroll around or do something with generally short wait times than stand in line for rides after dinner. This works best for us - dinner, parade and fireworks sounds like a lot for the evening already! Have fun!

Well ... depends on your goal here. You've mentioned wanting to get dinner, see Spectro and see Wishes. If that's why you're going, then I agree with the previous poster who says just go and enjoy and if you get on an attraction, great.

If, however, what you're really asking is, "Can I get on all the 'Mountains', Pirates, PhilharMagic, and Haunted Mansion without waiting in too long of a line AND have dinner AND see Spectro and Wishes if I don't get into MK until 4pm?" then the answer is probably no.

You'll be able to see some of the things you want to see, but you'll be spending time standing in line. Not hours and hours in line, probably, considering when you're going, but you're not going to be able to breeze into MK at 4 or 5pm, have dinner, swing through all the cool rides and then stake out a spot for the parade and fireworks in that span of time. Unless you're REALLY lucky and you happen to hit everything just right.

:teeth: Thanks for the responses! No, I wasn't planning on getting all those things done! (Although it would be great if we could! :hyper: ) Actually, what I was thinking about was getting over there, getting a couple of the main attractions done, and then maybe grabbing hotdogs at Casey's and staking out a spot. We are out of the parks but will be back on Thursday, doing EMH for the MK. I count on being able to get a lot done then. Then, I would like to finish up MK touring on Friday and be in another park on Saturday, as I've heard Saturdays at the MK are crazy.

We have five days total in the parks, so I'm just trying to make the best use of our touring time!

Yeah ... then you'll be fine. Just wander by all the attractions you WANT to see, and choose the shortest lines. Then hit the rest of them the next day. Enjoy!

Tour Guide Mike has info on his website (which you would have to pay for) for best things to see in the parks at certain times of day (or half day parks, etc.) I found that info really useful for our visit cause we did several half days. I thought you were sitting down to eat so a long dinner - which could be fun too! I really like the TGM site - perhaps it would benefit you so I'll pass along the URL: http://www.tourguidemike.com

Have a great trip!

On a Tuesday in mid May, I'd be surprised if this is a problem. I think there will still be FPs left.

Let me give you an example of what I do when we return to a park after a break: We will grab a FP for an attraction and then have dinner. After dinner we use the FP and then hit another ride or two befor the fireworks.

We did the same thing in December on a Saturday. We didn't arrive until 4:00 and our intent was to only see Wishes & the 2nd showing of Spectro @ 10:00. I had planned only to wonder around, get something to eat and then stake out a spot.

Well to my surprise, we were able to see Mickey's Philharmagic, grabbed Fastpasses for Buzz, went on COP & TTA. Then we went on Buzz.

After, we staked out spots for the Fireworks @ the Plaza counterservice restuarant while the 1st Spectro was going on. I got us some food, we watched the fireworks (Tinkerbell flew right over us), and immediately after we went to Main Street and got front row seats for Spectro (only had to wait 1/2 hour).

I'm sure it will be crowded when you go, but it couldn't be any worse than a Saturday evening. And since you will be arriving in the afternoon, there will definately be Fastpasses remaining for most attractions.

Hope this helps!
;) :D ,
Katie

Excellent! Thanks so much for your input. It's been so long since I've been there, I don't want to have unreasonable expectations for what we can get done. I would rather expect less and be pleasantly surprised if we can do more attractions than expected!

Thanks again!!
