Will we be receiving a bounceback offer?

Curious if anyone has been during free dining in previous years.... did you receive a bounceback offer on property?

Reason I'm asking... we booked our flight for September in May. Price went down like 4 days later by $50 a ticket. 5 people, roundtrip, it gave us a $500 credit for southwest. The only problem is it has to be used within the next year (from date of purchase).

So I thought maybe we'd plan a January or February trip so I dont waste this airfare credit. But now I'm wondering... should I wait until September and see if there's a bounceback offer. I'd hate to book something and then book the flight and wish I didn't. What do you think? :confused3

ETA: Totally put this in the wrong place! If there's anyone here smarter than I (oh wait, that would be 99% of this DIS!)... could you pretty please tell me how I can move this to the right place? Should have been under resorts. Sorry!

I'm going to move this over to our resort board. I'm sure the folks over there will have all kinds of info.

No way to Know till the first free diners start reporting in.Generally the past few years they have offered a Bounceback, but it is for free dining the next year.

As the OP said, we received a bounceback offer last year during free dining. Not sure what months it was for. Perhaps I'm not fully understanding, but I would suggest you go ahead and book the Jan/Feb trip; just wait on booking airfare until you see if there's a bounceback offer. You can always cancel the trip if there isn't one.

I would book something now and then if there is a bounceback, book that and cancel your earlier reservation. As long as you cancel more than 45 days out, you won't have a penalty. I had no trouble rebooking for a different resort at a lower rate, and then canceling my previous reservation for our last trip. As far as bounceback, we have always had one in our room and never used it. Last month when we wanted it, it wasn't there. We found out that if you are persistent and keep trying, you can get to the right person and find it if it isn't in your room. If the first front desk CM tells you they don't have a card, try a different CM at a different time, maybe even the next day (that is what worked for us-- one looked and found nothing and sent us on a telephone wild goose chase (calling completely the wrong people) where they told me there must not be any bounce backs available right now, the next day another CM got us a card in 2 seconds and I called and booked). Also, check with the housekeeping carts and if not there, call housekeeping, as they are the ones that have the cards to put in the rooms. If still nothing, dial 8844 on the room phone. That takes you to the bounceback reservation CM. I don't think we would have even needed the code from the card. I also saw on the boards where someone said the information channel on the TV has the bounceback and code on it. Before you leave for your trip get on the codes and rates section of the disboards and maybe this area too and see if you can figure out what bounceback card is there and even maybe what it says. I knew there was one from the Disboards, and I didn't give up until I got it. Good luck!!

Im thinking she is asking if there is a chance for bounceback... so she can decide whether to book her flights for jan/feb or wait.

Yep :thumbsup2

I guess I'm also trying to figure out... is there a rule of thumb fr the time of year, such as... if it's Sept when we go, when will the bounceback offer be for? Two months later, 6 months later, a year later, etc?

I don't know how any of this stuff works... so I'm hoping to at least have an idea of what could be offered. Is it usually a percentage off or something? I thought I read here on one thread that the bounceback offer during free dining was actually to return for free dining again? Does that mean a year later, or at a different time of year?

Sorry if I'm rambling... been up since 5am doing ressies and didn't go to bed until 2 last night. :sad2:

Usually during free dining, the bounceback offer (if there is one) is for free dining the next year during Aug/Sept :)....but then again there might not be an offer or it might be for something other than free dining.....it's anybody's guess . But like the pp said, once free dining starts is when people will be reporting on whether or not there is a bounceback offer and what it's for ;).

We did not get a bounceback offer last Sept. when we were there for free dining. We have good friends who did. We were at POR and they were at a Pop resort. :confused3

On Monday we got the Nov/Dec pin for free dining in an email, though, and will be going in Nov. We wanted to go back before our middle son turns 10 and has adult pricing.

While at CBR we received a bounceback offer. It doesn't seem to save you any money though, other than you know you have gaurantee of the free dining, but since they always seem to offer it anyway, not sure why it matters.
