Will we be disappointed in Character breakfsst?

[OFF TO WDW!]

We are going to try the Spiderman/Scooby -doo / Thing 1 / Thing 2 character breakfast at Islands in Universal Studios. My concern is I am comparing it to what we have experienced at Disney.


What's it like? Is there the singing, and hoopla, or just the costume characters walking around in a meet and greet ?


Any thoughts of what our expectaions should be?


Is it even worth it?

I've never done the character breakfast but enough people on the board have given the character interaction rave reviews as being much better than anything Disney can offer. The food is so-so but if you're looking for meet and greet opportunities, you will not disappointed.

i did a dinner this past week at the main rph restaurant.
it was scooby and he spent a lot of time with the guests.


you won't find scooby at the confisco bay character breakfast .


i did the spidey/thing 1 & 2 thursday morning character breakfast and thought the set up was great.

the food was plentiful and no problem with any of it.
the characters posed for pictures and interacted with guests.

it was fun entertainment at both places.

We did the one with the Grinch and while the food is what you'd expect (so-so at best), it was the best character interaction BY FAR that we've ever seen. We've done pretty much all of the ones at Disney and none of them compare.

I want to say it was $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids last December, but I can't be 100% sure on that.

We did the one at Confisco's a couple of years ago with Spiderman, Grinch, & the Things and thought it was great. Spiderman was jumping around the place and really stayed in character even when chatting with us. He talked to our son about watching out for Doc Oc while we were in the park and things like that. We thought it was well worth the money & the food was pretty good as well.

I don't remember how much we paid then, but it looks like the price now is $17.95 for ages 10 & up and $11.95 for under 10.

I took my son to one in 2007 with Spidey, Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 & 2 and my kid really enjoyed it. As others have said, the character interaction is great. Spidey really is fantastic and spent a long time with my son as it was fairly quiet. He stayed in character throughout, striking some great poses.

I'd definitely recommend it

We did the Grinch last Nov/Dec. The interaction was excellent but the food was terrible. We all left still hungry. There were far too many "sweet" items for breakfast and not enough sausage, egg etc. We would not do it again at Universal. Although Disney interaction is not as good, combined with the food I think it better overall.

I'll never go back. Spiderman came swinging into breakfast and landed on our table. He spilled our drinks all over us when he landed, and when he swung to the next table he kicked me in the face!

Seriously though, anything you ask here about Universal people will say it blows away anything that Disney has. Try it and let us know.

We have done the one at Confisco's a few times. The kids always have a great time. The character interaction is is great and we usually go late so the place is not crowded at all. Spiderman always spends a lot of time with the boys talking to them, Cat in the Hat was fun and Thing 1 & 2 sat at our table with us and started turning over the sugar container and other things on our table. It's one of our favorite character meals--Disney included.
