My husband and i have decided to book our first cruise. We don't really know much about cruising at all, and having read many threads on this board in particular, i am not sure there will be enough adult events to do.

Are we goung to be stuck just doing a lot of sitting around? I can see that there is a lot to do for kids, duh it is a Disney cruise after all, but i am concerned that i'll be bored.

We dont have passports and wont be able to get them in time to sail, so we dont plan on leaving the ship in Nassau.

DH and I don't drink, so we didn't do any of the mixology or tasting classes. We don't go to bars and clubs. We aren't into Palo or Remy. That being said, not once were we ever bored. There are lots of things to do for adults! The previous things I mentioned, plus mini golf, spa, visual sport simulators, adult pool, movies, shows, exploring the ship, Aquaduck, fish extenders, limited shopping, various classes, and arcade are the ones I can think of right away. I am sure there are others. I doubt boredom will be the problem, the bigger issue will be trying to have enough time to enjoy everything!
Have a great time!

I really enjoyed the animation classes and the guest lecturer sessions. A lot of times they have imagineers who will give a "behind the scenes" talk. Movies in the theater, and shows in the evenings were a great way to break up the day. I was never bored, but I also don't mind "sitting around" and relaxing... Whether it's up on deck and taking in the gorgeous views, on the verandah, or in one of the beautifully themed bars.

Oh, and I almost forgot... When you find yourself with nothing to do, you can always eat!

My husband and I are never bored. We do have children who sail with us but we rarely see them on sea days except for meals and bedtime. They are happy playing in the clubs.

Questions to ask yourself: (These are the activities we do without the kids.....)
Do you like movies?
Will you be riding the Aquaduck?
Will you make reservations at Remy and / or Palo?
Do you like to workout?
Do you like to partake in tastings?
Will you make reservations at the spa?
Are you scheduling excursions?
Do you like Disney type stage productions?
Waking and enjoying a coffee at the coffee shop?
Do you enjoy eating at different restaurants perhaps with other people and getting to know them?
Do you like shopping?

Other adult activities we have not participated in but they exist:

bingo
comedy / other types of shows with guest performers
lying by the pool (I have only been in the pool once; it was the adult pool and it was heavenly because it was empty except for my husband and me
enjoying the hot tub

My list is obviously not exhaustive but if you said yes to most of these items I think you will be more than okay and not bored. I have yet to suffer from boredom......I am always feeling like it ended too soon.

How long is your cruise? If it's a three or four day, definitely not! There is so much to do. My husband and I went on a three day on the Dream before we had a son, and there was so much we never even got a chance to see (and I couldn't drink or do things like the hot tubs/saunas/etc. at the spa because I was pregnant.)

We ate, saw all the shows, explored the ship, swam in adult pool, met a couple of characters, went to sailaway party and pirate night, did an excursion at Nassau, snorkeled/did stingray excursion/explored at Castaway Cay, watched Finding Nemo one night before bed On Demand, etc. We missed so much we would have liked to do, like the classes, dance clubs (only poked our heads in there), spa (only did the tour), mini golf, movie theater, etc.

Also, you don't NEED a passport to get off in Nassau, but I can understand wanting to be safe in case something happened. But if you do a Disney excursion, it is doubtful that would happen.

Have fun!

My two most recent Disney cruises (honeymoon cruise summer 2014 and Easter cruise April 2015) have been just my husband and I and we loved both of them. I like how Disney has a section in the Navigator listing the adult activities. There is a lot to do including animation classes, art of the theme tours, and trivia. I enjoyed both the Aquaduck on the Dream and the Aquadunk on the Magic. I think Disney has the best shops of any cruiseline. I enjoy being able to see first run Disney movies. On another Disney cruise, I attended a lecture with an Imagineer that was really interesting and also went to a screening preview of the show Nashville before it would air on ABC. Pirate Night is fun for all ages. Although I have done other cruiselines before Disney, I find myself having a hard time going back to them after Disney. I am a huge Mickey fan so I tend to feel the magic on a Disney ship.

I read this thread only because I am TOTALLY stressing out about how I can do all of the things I want to do on the 7 night Alaska cruise! There are shows, tastings, dining, presentations, demonstrations, exercise, games, movies, tours, FE, wine and room service cheese platters, scenery, and and and...... I am just shocked that there would be any question of boredom.

DH and I found ourselves without kids for much of the time (they loved the kids clubs). We loved the trivia games, towel folding, movies, shows, and just hanging out in the adult lounges. One lounge has board games.

Prior posters have pretty well stated the case--lots to do on the ship for 2 adults.

Just Mrs U and I for our first ever 2 cruises and we were NEVER bored.

You might be bored. DCL cruises are geared for families with kids, but plenty of childless adults sail with Disney. However, in many cases those folks are big Disney fans and enjoy the characters, shows, etc. Are you Disney fans?

I can't say for sure if either or both of you will get bored or not, but I thought the same thing back in 1987. DW wanted a cruise I didn't so we compromised and did four nights at WDW and a four night Big Red Boat (official cruise line of Disney then). We have done six more since all DCL. A 3, two 4s, two 7s, and a 15 night Wonder Panama Canal cruise. Next year a 7 night Alaska cruise. Plenty of others have already made a list of things to do. A short cruise will be a good way dip your toes in the water and see if you like it. Or love cruising like we do. We actually love the sea days; had plenty of them on the PC cruise.

If you needed a passport for this cruise (which you don't), you wouldn't be allowed on the ship in PC without a passport. It's not a port-by-port decision as to whether you can get off the ship; the necessary documents are required at boarding.

2 adults, no kids, non drinkers, non fancy dresser, Universal parks fan....With that all being said. We never been bored on 3,4 and 7 day cruises. For us our vacation is about relaxing on the cruise. Also what made a DCL'er for life is the quality of service.

I will never be bored on a Disney cruise. DD is turning 18 soon. I can't wait to go on the Alaska cruise this August exploring all the adult only areas and activities. This time I can enjoy the best of the adult's and kid's worlds on the ship. How can we be bored??

I am sure you will be able to find some activities you are interested in doing. Looking at some previous personal navigators helps. Click here.
Have fun planning!

It's hard to say. There are plenty of activities on board. I'm not a "Disney" lover so to speak. I've never stood in line for a character, I could care less about the shows, I thought the movie Frozen was my cure for insomnia, I don't wear Minnie mouse ears the whole cruise(yes I have seen adults do this). All that being said I love a DCL cruise. I love being out on the water, the ships are gorgeous, the customer service is excellent, the food is good, I feel pampered, and my kids have so much fun I hardly see them for 7 days. I prefer port intensive cruises. Sometimes I get a little bored on sea days, and our next cruise will have 5 sea days. I plan on bringing some good books, and hopefully catching some of the Marvel movies that are coming out this Summer. Have fun.

Honestly, I'm a Disney nut, so I'm never bored, plus I like to lay around and read or people watch. I will say however my husband is sometimes bored and I have to work to keep him happy so he'll let me go sailing again.

You don't need a passport to cruise on a closed-loop itinerary, so there is no problem getting off the ship in port if you want to. IMO you would have to work really hard to be bored on a DCL ship.

My wife and I do NOT have kids and we have done 12 Disney cruises. We just recently got back from a 15-day Hawaiian cruise with another cruise line and WE'RE BORED OUT OF OUR MINDS. I met another cruiser on board who agreed with me that when planning our day on Disney, there might be conflicts in your planning schedule with two activities you wanted to do at the same time. There were maybe two activities we wanted to do PER DAY on the 15-day cruise. Disney just does it right.

I don't care about characters. I don't care about shows. I don't care about bingo. I don't care about excursions. Heck, I don't care about ports. I am never bored on a Disney cruise. I love them.
