Will visiting other resorts be allowed?

We usually stay at WL and BWI, but in the evening we often visit other resorts... especially the monorail resorts like the Poly for Dole Whips, or the CR for shopping, or the GF for just walking around.

Will this be allowed when they re-open? I'm just now hearing that it won't be, but I wanted to ask you folks if anyone had heard anything? If so, how would they enforce it? (IE: only people staying at those resorts are allowed on the monorail?)

Last I saw, only if you have ADRs. besides, not all resorts will be open. Sounds like the ones that are will only do QS at first.. so no ADRs possible, and I’m not sure the monorail will be running at all.

The one hopeful statement I read on another post was that they didn’t really define day guest. The rules are that you need either an overnight resort reservation or an ADR as a day guest. Day guest could mean anyone not staying at that particular property. So if you’re staying at Poly you’re considered a day guest at GF and need an ADR. But it could also refer to people without an overnight stay anywhere on property. So you could still hop to GF from Poly without an ADR because technically you’re an overnight guest elsewhere on property.

Of course this is just one interpretation. But I imagine stopping resort hopping between on-site guests (Especially where it’s walkable) would be very difficult in multiple respects: the staff required to enforce it at every entrance.. the time taken to verify who actually has a legit reservation.. the people who don’t wear magic bands.. how early are you allowed to show up for an ADR.. it just doesn’t seem very practical to me. But I’m sure my bias is showing.. as we’re going in August and resort hopping is one of our favorite hobbies :) It’s also a great way for them to get more of my $$...

I am also confused about resort hopping.. would like some clarification from Disney. Along with procedures on dining reservations, theme park reservations, and hotels that will be open. But, it might be for naught, if Florida decides to close again.

Disney may close before the state does. Many other AAA parks around them are already open. Disney is biding their time. Hoping for the best, expecting to close before July 11th. Just my opinion. Now depressed again.

Ouch.. anyone else heard anything about this?

The rules are that you need either an overnight resort reservation or an ADR as a day guest.

Which would work for us, being guests at WL/BWI. If the monorail isn't running, taking a boat from WL to GF... I guess we'd be allowed to walk into the GF and also walk over to (and into) the Poly?

Uh-oh. What has anyone heard? I'm seeing fresh news articles that FL is having an increase in cases.

Sorry, I do not know how to use the quote feature properly:

My question is: What defines an overnight resort guest versus day guest? If I am staying on-site at another resort (Boardwalk Inn) am I considered a day guest at the Polynesian? Also, with limited transportation options, parks closing earlier, and no Minnie Van - it looks like Lyft and Uber are options for visiting other resorts for late night dining.

Assuming WDW uses the same "day guest" definition that applies to parking rules -- anyone not staying at that specific resort would be considered a "day guest." For example, if you are staying at Poly, you would be a day guest at GF.

I asked a cast member about this: he said that if I had a resort reservation for an on-property WDW resort, that I could resort hop. His exact words were "absolutely".

I'm still taking it with a grain of salt...

I was told this morning by MS that I would not be allowed on another property without a dining reservation

So, we shall see exactly what happens when people try.

As someone going during the pre-park opening period, I am OK with the monorail not running. That is why I changed from BLT to VGF. I will now have access to twice as many food options.

And I would fully support bus drivers confirming someone is actually staying on property before allowing them on a bus since capacity will be greatly reduced. Side note: I remember when the used to check back in the early 90s...I still have a few of those resort specific ID cards!

I am hoping the boats are running from OWK to DS, but won't be surprised if they aren't as that would necessitate additional temp check locations.

Just have to wait and see...I will just be happy to escape from my townhouse :)

Sounds like everything is open for interpretation with going to other resorts if you are on property. I made two dining reservations this morning when I really only wanted the quick service at one and the lounge at the other. Figure we can at least get similar food at the table service. I also would like to get a Dole Whip. It would make sense to allow on-site guests to resort hop, but just not allow people who are staying elsewhere to come “check out the resort” and get a go shopping/get a snack. With just on-site guests, Disney has some crowd control.

I wonder if they will allow walking from SSR and OKW to Disney Springs. It would be silly to be in a Congress Park SSR room and have to take a bus to the current entrance.

I'm very curious about this too. I would like to spend an evening grabbing a slice of pizza and stroll along the lake at BW/BC. I tried for a beaches and cream ADR, but they were booked up.

Depends if they want to add the security check for temp screening and things.

IMO, things may be a little vague on purpose. I think what might be allowed prior to park opening when there is bound to be fewer guests may not be when things get busier.

I just now (June 18 2020) spoke to a cast member and she said YES to resort hopping. I said I would like to eat at the restaurants at other hotels and she said absolutely NO problem.
My check in date is July 18 Wilderness Lodge:wave2:

You can definitely make reservations for other places. The key is whether one can go without it. Today I was told no. But, we will know for sure next week!

The cast member actually told me today absolutely no problem on resort hopping BEFORE I even said I would like to eat there. Sometimes I feel like I should record the call for my benefit. lol

Well, I’ll be there in a few weeks and we will definitely be trying! I am hoping your CM was correct and not mine! Lol

OK, some additional related questions (mostly from the pov of WL & BWI, but applicable to other resorts) for the early re-opening period (july into august)

Will there be a boat going from WL to the MK bus depot area? How will they do restrictions for social distancing on those boats?

Will there be a boat from the MK area to Narcoosee dock and Poly dock?

What's the latest with the monorail? Will it run? I'm hearing one compartment per family?

Will there be bus service from BWI to the MK bus depot and back? (What restrictions?)
