Just when you think you've seen everything. So far we only have mud slinging.

Lawmakers in Food Fight Over Arms Budget
Tue Oct 26, 1:28 PM ET Oddly Enough - Reuters

TAIPEI (Reuters) - A food fight erupted in Taiwan's parliament on Tuesday as lawmakers quarrelling over a massive arms budget hurled their lunch boxes at each other.

"You've got no shame!" screamed Chu Fong-chih of the opposition Nationalist Party, after throwing a take-out box of chicken and rice at Chen Tsung-yi, a legislator from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party who backed the special budget.

Chen responded by accusing Chu of sympathizing with Taiwan's arch-foe China, and flung his own lunch box at her.

Taiwan's parliament is notorious for fistfights, with many lawmakers enjoying the media attention when scuffles break out. Chairs and shoes have also been known to fly across the chamber on occasion.

Legislators were meeting on Tuesday to decide if a proposed $18 billion budget to buy weapons from the United States should be put on the legislative agenda for Friday.

I would not be surprised to learn this has already happened at a municipal, county or even state level. One would hope that someone elected to a federal office would have already proven to be able to refrain from doing that. With so much time available on the myriad news channels not too mention the Internet bloggers, you know that any policitician of much rank would quickly have his/her name splashed everywhere for such an act. Look how quickly the news from Taiwan spread. I think US politicians are (sometimes unfortunately) much too aware of the next election.

So... let's forget mudslinging....FOOD FIGHT!:)

Believe it or not, it's actually gotten better in US politics as far as physical violence is concerned. One disagreement between two House members in the 1800s resulted with one beating the other with his cane, and don't forget the duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton.

Of course, if they did have food fights, the members of Congress should use foods from their home states -- Pennsylvania's delegation throws cheesesteaks, Georgia's peaches, etc. :teeth:

Yes, The House used to be a lot less civilized. Fist fights were the norm, now there's screaming matches off the floor. In some ways I would like to see Congress get a little more worked up about things. Enough of the, "I yield the remainder of my time to the GentleLady from the great state of Washington. While visiting there last Summer....." Enough!

Actually I prefer the British way of going about things. The PM comes and talks with Parliament where they are free to yell at him, question him, and basically insult him. I'd love to see that in America - the entire Congress together, actually speaking to on another and having to defend their positions - Imagine!!!

ROTFL. I saw this yesterday, laughed my head off, and your post brought it all and I'm hysterical now.

There have been scuffles at local political meetings and B-I Bob Dornan was involved in shoving match on the floor of the house with Tom Downey.

Too funny.
