Will Universal follow WDW and raise ticket prices?

I just read that WDW raised ticket prices. Does Universal usually follow suit and raise prices as well? Would not surprise me with London/Diagon Alley opening just around the corner.

I will be at UO/IOA in November and was planning to get an AP later this summer. But if there is a chance that ticket prices might increase, I will get it sooner.

Any thoughts?

Universal usually does if Disney does.I am thinking they will raise them soon

For the past 3 years Universal actually raised prices before Disney, except for this past weekend.

Almost certainly, especially with Diagon Alley opening. I let mine expire without renewing last year because we knew we weren't going, had to be responsible for once and pay some bills off. I'm going to buy my APs this week, actually. They may not raise the price of their APs, they sometimes don't, but they certainly aren't going to lower them either so you're not helping yourself by waiting.

Word is out that they are raising prices. I don't see them any different on the website but I guess they'll take effect tomorrow. AP prices usually get raised at different times.

When comparing a Universal Annual Pass at $279.99 ($298.19 including tax) and a 4 day base WDW ticket at $294.00 ($313.11 including tax) ... well there really is no comparing is there?

Plus we always stay onsite at Universal and get great APH rates at their deluxe hotels - great savings there! Not to mention all the perks with merchandise and restaurant discounts, and of course, Unlimited Express (don't even get me going on FP+!). There definitely is no comparison between the two. I haven't been to Disney since April 2013 and have two trips planned to Universal in the next 4 months.

I do plan on returning to Disney, but when they start treating their onsite guests better. I may have a long wait...:wave2:

Online tickets are still the same from the UO website.

I have read several news reports that state Annual Passes were not affected by the price increase. Is that true for both new passes and renewals? It struck me as rather surprising, especially given that Disney's increase did include their APs.

All prices are still the same on the website, so maybe they just raised gate prices. I haven't heard anything about AP prices.

It sounds crazy, but I just bought tickets via undercover tourist at the old discounted price (as it remains unchanged) for our anticipated trip 3 years from now! The price increase is significant for the 3 day park to park tickets (~$20+ per person). I can't imagine that Universal won't be changing its online price to match the gate price soon. With the annual increases at this rate, there is no where I can even earn comparable interest to make up the difference.

A few years ago, there was a promotional offering for (if memory serves) $99 7-day park to park tickets! Should have bought up a few for future trips. I believe a few DISers did exactly that.

I don't know how crazy it sounds, I've bought ticket's over the last weeks to where I probably won't need to buy any Disney World or Universal Orlando tickets for 7 maybe 9 years although I have some upgrading of existing tickets. I have

5 day Disney world Base Ticket (purchased Sunday Ebates/Orbitz)
3 Themepark days and 4 water park days left on 10 day Parkhopper plus

4 day Universal Park to Park ticket (Purchased last Night)
1 day Universal Park to Park ticket (credit card reward should be upgradable)
(2) 1 day Universal Park to Park tickets (Complementary)

I've been taking a big vacation about every other year.

Trip 1: Upgrade Universal Tickets + 1 off Disney Park Hopper + SW/BG
Trip 2: Disney 5 day (upgraded as needed) + 1 complementary Universal ticket
Trip 3: 4 day Universal Ticket + 1 of Disney Park Hopper
Trip 4: need new "big ticket"

During that time, I'm probabaly going to try to do a trip to California and Disneyland that could push new Florida ticket needs outs.

I am glad I bought our tickets already..I could honestly see them raising prices again once Harry Potter expansion opens.

If I purchase an AP now will it expire a year from today or a year from the date of first use?

I actually had to call to purchase my AP ticket as the online store would not accept any form of payment. When I called the ticket line, one of the options was "if you are trying to buy tickets online". Makes me think that changes may be in the works.

So, thanks again for the very quick answers. I know I can always depend on good advice from the experts here. ::yes::

I just ordered one online today too. Just in case. I had no issues with it.
