TS Dorian is currently forecast to come into central Florida sometime Sunday morning/early afternoon. Current center of the cone (as of 11:00 AM) has it landing near Melbourne and cutting up northwest across the state of Florida.

TS Dorian

Opening day, no. The weekend might be pretty rainy. Sounds like the time to go unless he happens to intensify to hurricane strength (not being anticipated by NOAA right now)

WDW is inland, so they would need to anticipate a direct hit by a pretty powerful hurricane to start closing parks. Tropical storms haven't caused park closures.

They did close for Hurricane Irma and I believe it was only the 6th time they have ever closed

They won't close unless it's a 3+, which it won't be. It probably won't even be a Cat 1 Hurricane

And Matthew.

Unless something changes drastically with it there will be no significant impact. Besides that they don't even know the track yet. If it goes over the mountains first it will weaken a lot. If it doesn't it won't.

WDW closed at full or partial days for Floyd, Charley, Frances, Wilma, Jeanne, Irma and Matthew. All were hurricanes at landfall. There has never been a park closure due to a tropical storm at landfall. Individual rides, outdoor activities, fireworks shows or parts of parks may be closed or cancelled.

today's model has Dorian making Florida landfall up by Jacksonville on Monday morning as a Category 2 hurricane. Those of us who will be in the WDW area need to watch him closely for the next couple of days to see where he ends up going, since he is moving north.

the thing to remember with these projections is that the wider the cone, the wider the speculation. So it will probably have impact on air travel but as of now, it's too early to tell where it will make landfall and where the storm will pack the biggest punch

Well now it’s projected to be a Cat 2 if it hits florida. So we’ll see. It’s still early. Could go more north. 10” of rain projected, along with the wind

I can't tell if I am relieved or more worried by everyone saying its too soon to tell. I have a flight scheduled to arrive sat night. The latest screenshot above shows it hitting Miami overnight Sat, so I would think my flight into Orlando, would still be ok?

We booked the dessert party at DHS on the 2nd. If they cancel the fireworks, will they decide early enough to cancel the dessert part too and give a refund?

See the latest screenshot above. It’s scheduled to hit late Sunday at the moment.

Not really hitting Miami, Miami is at the farthest point south of it, if that track continues Miami will see rain but nothing more, the center of the cone is what you want to look at, and like I said the wider the cone the more probabilities of it changing

On my to Orlando now. We are supposed to leave Orlando on Monday so I will be watching as it gets closer.
