Will TS Dorian Impact SWGE's Coming Out Party??

I recommend anyone feeling hesitant or concerned to watch Brian Shields on WFTV. He's our local guy and he tells it like it is without any drama. He updates the page constantly

Hurricanes and snowstorms are ratings drivers for the national guys, if I'm traveling I always see what the locals are saying.

I just watched his latest update - looks like sunday into monday is the concern, not so much sat night. My flight should make it in ok, and we will just DIsney in the rain!

I find WJXT-Hurricane tracker (available on google play) to be very helpful. I'm not in Florida, so having an app on my phone keeps me up to date.

Remember that cone of death they love showing that covers the entire state is just where there will be nasty weather, not necessarily hurricane force winds.

It's likely gonna be ugly, with feeder bands coming through and dumping rain and wind in short bursts. But unless this thing makes a hardcore turn west, it won't hit Orlando directly and likely The World will be business as usual with a lot of outdoor stuff being canceled.

I live in Ft Lauderdale and have my whole life so watching these things is an annual pass time.

I know nothing about hurricanes ask me about ice storms, blizzards and snowstorms I got you. Love through the Ice Storm of 99 lol So I am leaving the 5th if September for Orlando will I be okay lol

I just read the NOAA projections and notices, not any TV or news meteorologists. It'll be at least a couple of days before we know where he's going and how strong.

I've been through two of the park closure days onsite, they just ask you to stay in your room for the day.

I can't tell if I am relieved or more worried by everyone saying its too soon to tell. I have a flight scheduled to arrive sat night. The latest screenshot above shows it hitting Miami overnight Sat, so I would think my flight into Orlando, would still be ok?

We booked the dessert party at DHS on the 2nd. If they cancel the fireworks, will they decide early enough to cancel the dessert part too and give a refund?

I could be wrong but I know when we did the dessert party for World of Color at DLR, the fine print says that you won't get a refund if weather affects the show. Basically, they will still hold a dessert party, there just won't be any fireworks. As I've read on here, a lot of people say you are paying for the dessert party and the fireworks are just a bonus.

That being said, hopefully they would give some sort of refund. Not sure what's in the fine print for that specific dessert party.

I mentioned in another thread, but check out tropicaltidbits.com as well. Do NOT listen CNN/Weather Channel, etc.

The new GFS model is updating so we'll see where they have it headed now (last night they had it going up the coast of GA and Carolinas then turning out to sea)

If they close the park, you should get a refund on your in-park prepaid stuff. If they don't close the park, unless they cancel the event itself you'll have to call and ask them to refund you.

Latest models have it a cat 3 when it makes Florida landfall. Following Denis Phillips at acb action news out of Tampa. He also tells it like it is without hype.

I have a room only reservation for the Saturday thru Tuesday. Debating what to do about it.

Would I just lose the deposit if I cancel?

I agree. Also check out Mikes Weather Page on FB or spaghettimodels.com

He presents ALL possibilities do people can analyze their own data and make their own decisions. He is right sooooo much it’s crazy!

What a bummer for SE:GE and everyone going! Hopefully there will be minimal impact for everyone!

I second the recommendation for Mike’s weather page. I saw him tweeting on Saturday and knew something was brewing. :(

Does anyone know what the water situation is looking like in Orlando? I see people commenting on Mike’s page that water is starting to sell out in certain parts of FL. We arrive tomorrow and I have 2 cases on order with Publix, but I’m wondering if I should have a backup plan in case they sell out.

They sell it at the resorts in cases too

Thanks, we are driving in later in the week from Canada. Having no experience with hurricanes we weren’t sure if lingering weather would be a factor. We are more worried about driving through Georgia than arriving in Disney.
