Will ToT waits improve with decreased distancing? 🤞🏼

Is there any chance Tower of Terror will be able to seat more riders with decreased social distancing? And hopefully by 5/21 when we’re visiting? 🤞🏼

Should if all elevators are operating. Even at limited capacity we never waited more than 40 minutes

I wouldn't think that the 'waits' will change much. Presumably, the same amount of people, just in a line half as long. It would be the same amount of elevators, just that '8-ish' people more will ride in it. Now, if the capacity limit increases, then the answer is 'no'. That would be more people, 3 feet apart, in the same elevator.

If the wait times improve... more people will be standing in line with you, including me... That is the attraction I have avoided and really miss!

Two weeks ago we bit the bullet and waited over 2 hours for TOT. This was because of limited capacity in the elevator AND few elevators running. So if capacity increases then wait times will decrease but it also depends on how many elevators are going.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking people could sit closer together on the elevators so more on each run? But if it is capacity that dictates number of elevators... maybe not. I guess I can still be happy if there's less queueing in the glaring sun!

I think you are right...the more people on each elevator (the less social distancing) the more people can load. I don't think capacity has anything to do with the number of elevators...I just think it has to do with planning....I saw it both ways two weeks ago.

Not until they fill all rows. Decreasing social distancing means the line won't be as long, but still the same time waiting.

Yes that is what I mean--filling all the rows...just used the wrong terms.

The issue on TOT is that they’re not loading the middle row, and I’m not sure 3 feet will change that. Maybe though!

I would think that the changes that allow them to go to 50% capacity will be done in the next week. The flip side is that - if I’m right - they will be at 50% capacity, so a lot more people in the parks!

And not more attractions open, so more people wondering around, making it appear more crowded.
We really missed the big shows, parades and night time shows that held a lot of people and took them out of just wondering around.

To answer your question on TOT. Yes, I think they will add more people to the ride meaning capacity for the ride will increase.

I just really dont think they will add capacity to the parks until more things open. They need more shows, attractions, and restaurants to open before announcing moving up in capacity.

Now, that could be achieved by late summer with the advent of the college program coming back. (even though I have major problems with the way the college program is run, it will allow them to open more things)

I cannot express to you how many trainees I saw last week when i was there. They’re staffing up like crazy, and the only reason to staff up is to open things. So while I agree with you, I wouldn’t be surprised if mass reopening happen on a timeline of days not months. I think it’s instructive that they have two hotels listed to reopen in just the next 3 weeks.

With them bringing back the college program already, it seemed like they are getting ready to open things up a lot more.

I just wish they would remove the plexiglass in the lobby and re-open the pre-show so you do actually spend some time in the lobby. I love that lobby and all the details. I would so stay at that hotel or just take a tour of that lobby.

If they increase park capacity but not ride capacity, we will go for the first two hours of the day and the last two because the middle of the day will be a madhouse especially at HS. Most days with the current capacity you get to 10am and everything is a 40 minute wait or more until 4 or 5 pm. Times like these make staying in the Boardwalk area worth every penny. We really appreciated our trip last August when everything was a walk on.

The biggest issue we had on our March trip is that there was pretty much at least one elevator down every time we rode. So even though we went there first thing in the morning and the posted time was only 25 mins, we ended up waiting 90 minutes because the started running with only two elevators, then one, then they held us line right before the boiler room for ages because the whole thing went down. It just seems to be a ride with a lot of technical issues these days!

Guess we got lucky in April as both elevators were running, but still a long line.

Former bellhop here :wave2:

Unlike RnR and other attractions, the seating in the elevator is configured in a way that doesn't work well with any kind of distancing in place. With the middle row completely out of commission, and you actually lose the middle seat in the back row because of plexiglass, the max you can fit in a single ride vehicle is 13 (ironic right?!), which isn't a whole lot. And because you can't fill up empty seats with single riders, efficiency is kind of out the window. Sooo I think it all depends if they can get guests back in that middle row. Until then, nope don't see the line moving any faster!

We were there last month and we were super surprised at how long the wait was compared to RnR, but once we saw how the elevators were being loaded, it made sense.

The positive thing is, the attraction can still run (much slower obviously) even if an entire side goes 101-unlike a lot of other attractions.
