TD Bank is having a promotion that if you register your TD visa debit card on their website and spend $100 at a supermarket you will earn a $10 TD gift card. You can earn up to a total of $50 in gift cards. Offer expires on March 6th. I soooo wish I would have seen this earlier because I work in a grocery store and can't leave without spending money every day!!

What I was wondering is if I purchase groceries and a store gift card (to use later on groceries) will that full purchase amount count toward my total spent? Meaning the gift card, too? Anyone ever tried that on any promotions? I figured I'm gonna buy more groceries anyway why not earn $50 doing so. By the way,my Commerce visa debit card worked on TD's website, since they haven't issued me a new card yet.

I don't know, I don't think TD Bank gets an itemized list of what you buy so it might work. but, wil any supermarket let you buy a supermarket gift card with a CC ? probably will but I've never tried.

I work for Acme and yes you can buy a gift card with a visa debit card. We sell gift cards to 100's of other retailers too. As long as you have a photo id to go along with your cc.

I didn't see anything excluding that...just make sure you sign for your purchases instead of entering a PIN and hit credit not debit when you're paying....

We still have Commerce visa debit cards as well. Even though our bank became Metrobank. They are probably waiting for the cards to expire to save money.

It should work, since the bank is a third party and won't know what you buy.

But another example is Kohls - when they are offering Kohls cash ($10 for every $50 you spend), it excludes Kohls gift cards.

I found this on the Terms and Conditions site: " TD Bank does, however, reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for this offer, regardless of whether a merchant has identified a transaction as a grocery store transaction. TD Bank’s decisions will be final and binding on all matters relating to this offer." So, it's entirely likely that gift cards will not qualify - although if they don't have access to the itemized receipt (but only the total), I'm not sure how they'll know.

Hmmmmm, this got me thinking... my supermarket (stop and shop) sells DISNEY gift cards

I wasn't going to do this promotion because I don't do the major grocery shopping for my house (my mom does ) BUT if I could get an extra 10% off my Disney trip, I'm all for it!

$500 in Disney gift cards sounds like a lot of money when I don't have a trip planned due to DBF's stupid work schedule and he works for TD!

I'll probably make purchases in smaller denominations along with grocery items so it has less of a chance of getting flagged. I'll ask the DBF what he thinks.
