I've been working with Tina for about a month now trying to get reservations at the Fort for a few days. Her RV was available, but a campsite wasn't. Both of us have been calling but could never get anything. At 7 AM this morning I called and they told me that Tinkerbell was sprinkling some of her pixie dust on me and that they had a full hookup for the dates I wanted. I immediately snatched it up, but afterward, I wasn't really sure what I had gotten, so I called them back. They said that I had a full hookup, but that it wasn't "preferred" or "premium," but that it would hold a 32' 5th wheel, and it would be on a pet friendly loop. They said I would be in one of the 1600 - 1900 loops. I sent Tina an email to see if this would work, but I know that she is out of town and it might be a few days before I hear back from her. I am desperately needing this vacation. I've spent the last week and a half cleaning out my mother's house (she passed away unexpectedly in June) and having an estate sale. I am drained emotionally and physically and really need a little Disney Magic. I will have to ask for time off of work to go on this trip, but I don't want to ask and then end up not being able to go on the trip due to not having the right campsite. Does anyone know if a basic full hookup will work with her RV? And if it will, what is the difference between a basic, a preferred, and a premium? My husband wants to buy an RV so that we can take our dog with us while we travel (my mother was our dog sitter), and he wants to rent Tina's to make sure that we will really like the Fort.

Yes, the 16-1900 loops will be perfect for a 35' 5er. These sites were originally (and may still be) slated to change to preferred in the future, but while they are still full's you'll save a few bucks a day. They may even have cable hooked up by time you arrive. 1900 and 1800 have had low-lying areas filled, so the sites should have much more usable space than they used to. I have stayed in 1800 on every trip to the fort and love it. Enjoy and relax! LOL

Oh, preferred loops are situated closer to amenities (pool, marina, campfire, etc) and premium are in better locations and have huge paved pads (and no cocina area).

Oh, also, so sorry for your loss and the subsequent headaches. My DW is executor of her brother's estate and it has been a nightmare for the last six months, with no end in sight, so we need a break too. Here's hoping you have a wonderful time at the world of disney (in color!).

Yes, you will be fine in those one of those loops. We had our 32 foot tt in there in June with plenty of room to spare.

Oh good, I feel so much better now!!! I'll go ask my boss for a few days off as soon as I get into work tomorrow. I hope we end up loving the Fort as much as all of you do. We went to an RV show in Atlanta a few weeks ago and I think we have a 5th wheel picked out that we really like, now we just have to find out if we like camping in one! LOL!

I hope you have a fun time. I think it is a very good idea to rent before you buy. You'll be able to decide if one slide out is enough - or if you need three! Take a small note pad with you to the fort so you can make a short list of those features you'd like to look for when you buy your own camper.

And I'll add to it:

Most campers are pretty friendly and helpful. If you are having problems figuring out how something works, just ask a neighbor. Most campers really seem to like to help out as much as they can. If they see you struggling outside, they'll usually ask if you need help. While most 5th wheels seem like homes on wheels, some things can be very different from home.

Thank so much for everyone's advice. I know we will look completely stupid trying to figure out how things work, but it should be fun! Cross your fingers that I can get the time off!
