Will this work as a 7 month strategy ?

Here's another question.When switching at 7 months, is ms able to hold an available room, while cancelling the previous one to free up points? I swear that the cm usually says to me "let me snag that room for you first, then we will take care of the switch" but I know that many people say they do not have that capability and some have even lost both reservations in the process of trying to switch. Any opinions on this one ?
