Will this plan work for Wishes?

We will be going in the middle of June. The crowds on Main Street/in front of the castle really intimidate and scare me. I'm imagining being rammed by strollers or scooters, standing there for 2 hours waiting to only be pushed behind someone, etc. Doesn't sound very magical. I would love to see the fireworks though. So my plan is to watch them from behind the castle near the entrance to Enchanted Tales with Belle. Youtube videos make it seem like you actually get a really good view of the fireworks from there. Then maybe we could slip in Gaston's Tavern and get something to drink before we head to get on the bus back to AOA to avoid the rush to the buses. Does that sound like it will work? How early would we need to find a spot near Enchanted Tales with Belle for Wishes?

Its actually not a very good spot. You are actually in between the fireworks, some will be in front of the castle and you would need to turn that way and then the higher, bigger ones will be behind you. You do not get the full effect you miss some of the effects in front of the castle.

I think it's a great spot to experience the fireworks. It's a completely different effect than you would see in front of the castle, and you won't get to see the castle projection show.

If I wasn't planning to photograph the fireworks, I'd be watching from back there myself.

As said above, it's a great location to view the fireworks, but not necessarily the 'show', the show being the layering effect of the fireworks and the castle combined. I've watched from there, before the new Fantasyland, and it was great.

As previous poster said, if you're not really looking to take pictures of the fireworks with the castle, then New Fantasyland is a great spot to watch Wishes. Last time, we were walking and simply stopped when it started. You really feel like you're in the middle of the show. We really liked it!

Have a great trip!

Thank you for replies. Does that area fill up quickly during busy times? Just trying to decide how early we need to be there if that's where we decide to view the fireworks.

No, it does fill up a lot. Most people are on the Main Street/hub side, actually the back of the castle. The actual front of the castle faces Fantasyland. .

Another question for all of you...If we watch Wishes from the entrance of Enchanted Tales with Belle, what would you suggest doing between our 6:10 Be Our Guest dinner and Wishes? We will have used all of our FP by then. Any suggestions?

At some point you should check at a kiosk to see if there are other FPs available. There might not be headliners, but you could find some for Small World, Barnstormer, Dumbo, Teacups, Haunted Mansion, that sort of thing.
