Hello Diserz!

I have been wondering.....there are several families that take multiple trips to WDW. I was just wondering about how much is spent per trip; for everything....lodging, fun, food, gas/air, suvineers, etc.

I'm trying to be tight on our budget cuz we can't go all crazy when we go - just wondered what is a normal spending budget.

Thanks.

Our last trip was in May - we're a family of 3 - 2 adults and a child <10.

3 r/t plane tix - $597

7 nights at AKL standard room 8 day hoppers and dining - $2900
(using a discount code - can't recall if it was a Visa one or a public one)

Rental car (optional for most) $160

Spending money (gratuities, souvenirs, non-DDP food) - $800 (approximate - I tossed most of my receipts already)

Work Hard...Play Hard ;)

My son loves animals and we love AKL. But if it was a choice between not going or staying in a more modestly priced hotel, you can be sure my head would be on whatever pillow I could comfortably afford at WDW rather than stay home. The only dealbreaker for me is flying. We live in the NYC area, and I can pretty confidently say I will NEVER drive to WDW. Other people do it, but I know me and I know can't handle it. I'll skip the rental car, the dining plan, switch hotels, go for a shorter amount of time, stay offsite - whatever it takes to get me there on an airplane.

Our trip last December was almost identical budget wise. Our flights were cheaper, but we bought tickets to MVMCP so the total was almost the same. The only other difference was that the gratiuty was still included in the DDP price where now it's an additional cost, but we got hit with special "holiday pricing" at a few places, so it was probably about the same amount.

Upcoming budget for 8 day stay in August:

$3200 resort and two park hopper passes
$840 food
$175 gasoline
$500 activity money (renting boats, horse riding, etc.)
$1000 spending money for whatever we want

I don't like to worry about money during a vacation so we usually take more than we need and have some left over for the next year.

We're in the minority, I suppose. I'm not at all frugal when it comes to the amount of vacations, but if I have $5-6000 to spend, I'm going to maximize on my benefits.

This is my 4th trip to Disney this year with my family, and we live in KY, not FL.

We're staying in POP on free dining for $8XX for 7 nights. We don't need a deluxe. We don't stay at the hotel at all except for sleeping/showering. This hotel is clean, cool, adequate in all ways. Actually, more than adequate - I really like the motif here!
Free flights from frequent flier miles or fly SW on a Ding
no car rentals, we ride the Magical Express and only go to Disney
We go so often that souveniors are really not that enticing anymore, but we do buy a few here and there. I always come home with a new pair of crocs... LOL!
We're pin traders, so we spend probably $50 -$60 per trip on that.
We buy 7 day tix, no hoppers, cause there is no need. We leisurely take one park per day @ a time - show up when we feel like it, leave when we feel like it. Why be rushed? Why pay the extra for hopping? Hopping only wears us out!
I'm sure we'll pay OOP for some snacks and food, and tips this year, but that might be 100-200...
Really we don't spend much when we are there at all.

I hope this helps!!

Upcoming trip:

Roundtrip Airfare for two: $ 422.00
MYW plus dining package: 1,006.00 (1 adult, 1 child - 5 nights at value)
Bibbity, Bobbity Boutique: 50.00
Room only (1 night) 100.00
Food/Drink 100.00 (estimate)
Photopass CD 100.00
Souvenirs 50.00

Total for 2 $1,828.00

I've already bought a lot of souvenirs that I'm brining with me. I've been shopping the clearance items at our local Disney store. My estimated food, drink and souvenir budget may be on the high side, but I'd rather plan enough and have money left over.

Don't forget about the gratuity at TS not being included anymore. Our last trip I felt like I was plunking down $100 every time we sat down for an appetizer or 2, a bottle of wine and the gratuity.

And I forgot about the photopass CD - we did that too, along with the photo shoot at the Poly, so add another $149 to my total from earlier!

We went with a group of 11, last October: (7 adults & 4 kids that were under 9)
Plane Tickets: 2227.50 (MKE-MCO)
6 nights/5 day mym passes with DDP: (3 rooms at POP) around 5000.00
MNSSHP: 450 ( I can't remember exactly, I figured 45.00 adult, 35.00 for kids)
Souvies (all 3 groups total spent about 475.00) my family of 5, we spent 150.00..
Parking at home airport (130.00 for 2 vehicles)

We used DME & Disney Transportation the entire trip so now oop expenses on rentals/gas..

***We had so much food on the DDP & snack credits that we didn't spend anything OOP except maybe 8-10.00 on some extra waters. This was before DDP didn't include tax/tip, so that was already covered also..
(BOO Disney, I wish tax/tip were still included in there, I would still pay for the DDP, but not now, for that reason and that an "adult" is anyone over 10, like my 10 year old could eat THAT much food, my DH couldn't even finish an appi/entree/desert, they need a "jr" price, that maybe just gets an entree/drink no desert or appi) sorry, vent over!

Anyway, I think when all was said/done what we spent it came to apx. $725.00/person, not too bad for almost a full week in the World!

**Our next trip (hopefully) we will drive, I simply can't justify the airfare, this year it seems to have almost doubled, our 1st trip I got it for 197.00 (MKE - MCO) 2nd trip I got it for 205.00 (same weeks) it's currently running at 450-500/ticket this year for that same week, YIKES!!!

Good luck & have fun on your trip!!!

We are flying fom memphis, 3 people/8 days at All Star Music, I think it will average out with absolutely everything included to be about $900 a person. We cannot do this every year like some other families and my husband and I like to see new places, so WDW will be once every 10 yrs maybe. We still have a lot of other places on our lifelist to see!
