Will they let me trade a dessert for an appetizer?

Does anybody know if I could get an appetizer instead of a desert on the ddp? Anyone ever tried?

Next time they revise the dining plan due to "guest demand", there will be a choice of appetizer or desset!

IF Disney was going to revise the dining plan due to guest demand both appetizers and desserts will be included. Restaurants that offer price fixed dinners generally at least include choice of soup or salad as an appetizer.

Many of us think Disney dropped appetizer in order to increase table turnover. Giving a choice would probably result in some members of the family ordering appetizers and others ordering dessert.

Heck if Disney revised the dining plan to guest demand it would cost $10 a night for adults, be good for three meals a day, and include gratuity, appetizer, entree, dessert and alcoholic beverages.

Makes sense. Plus appetizers generally cost more than desserts do..

What if 2 adults shared 1 app. and both did not get dessert do you think they would allow that?

No...under no circumstances will they let you get an appetizer instead of dessert, no matter which way you try to deal. They.won't.do.it.
When they first changed the meal plan, servers were telling people they would lose their job if they allowed substitutions so apparently Disney made it very clear to the servers that the plan is the plan. You're paying for an entree, dessert & beverage.

If you'd really prefer a single app and no desserts, maybe you should price it out. Could be paying cash would work better for you, just a thought.

Maybe, if it was Tuesday, the 30th of February.

yeah, but then only when it's a full moon at midnight.

I have never used the DDP. I thought you got an appetizer, entree, dessert and drink from what I have read. Am I mistaken?

yes, you are mistaken. The "DDP" refers to the Disney Dining Plan...you get 1 Table Service, 1 counter service and 1 snack per night. The table service allows for 1 entree, 1 non-alcoholic beverage and 1 dessert. A few restaurants have "Fixed Price" 3 course meals available using regular DDP credit...those Fixed Price meals do allow an appetizer, but it's a specific list your choose from;generally the choices are the less expensive items on the menu.

The Deluxe Dining Plan, commonly referred to on these board as the DxDP is the plan which allows your choice of appetizers. You are purchasing 3 meal credits per day, 2 snacks and a refillable mug on the DxDP. This plan allows for 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert & 1 non-alcoholic beverage per meal credit if used at a regular table service restaurant.
