Will they let me take my fanny pack onto rides?

I'm hearing that bags aren't allowed on FJ at Harry Potter... but do Fanny packs count?? That's all I'm planning on bringing!

As long as they don't get in the way of the lap bars, you should be fine. I wore one on all rides including coasters.

We've had a few conflicting reports with TMs one morning telling people they must go in the lockers and then TMs in the evening yelling to people that they don't need to go in the locker. Sounds like they are letting them on again. Keep the fanny pack small though.

You cant have one on the MUmmy Ride..been on it many times and they always make me take it off. Thats the only one I have ever had trouble with at US

Lol. I always wear one on the Mummy. I think it all depends on if the fanny pack is getting in the way of the restraints.

Okay, guess I'll just have to play it by ear. The fanny packs are tiny though, it's just like having a little extra gut in there, I can't see why they wouldn't let me take my gut on board :rotfl:

I wore my SMALL leather fanny pack on every single ride in both parks. As long as it is securely belted around your waist and is small enough to fit in the seats with the lap bar down you are fine. The seats are tight and depending on your body size adding something extra to your waist may make it difficult or impossible to lower the lap bar. Just try to make sure you pack is small and as flat as possible. I also made a point of hiding my pack under my shirt so it wasn't sticking out so clearly!

I saw one woman allowed on Dragon Challenge with one Sat. The woman with her was sent to a locker. The man in the group tried to argue that they were the same He was ugly about it. The girl told him in no uncertain terms they were not alike. One had 2 prongs, not 3, and they were plastic. She said they were not sturdy enough and were too easily undone during the ride. So apparently it's not just a question of size.

The number of prongs issue has also been discussed before on these threads.

I went with a small, 3-pronged fanny pack on FJ. I just had to slide it to the side so that it did not interfere with the restraint.

Silly question, but can someone explain the prong thing to me? I have one fanny pack that I used for dog training classes and it wrapped around my waist and fastened almost like a belt. I also recently ordered one of those small packs from Universal and if I believe correctly (I don't have it with me) it fastens onto a belt loop. I don't think either one has anything I'd consider to be prongs. So. . . what are y'all talking about? :confused3 If I need to worry about it, I'd like to do it sooner than later. :)

The prongs are on the buckle. Open the buckle (if there is one) and if there are three tines on the buckle it is a three pronged buckle.

What about something like the Vera Bradley Travel belt? It doesn't have prongs, but instead has a metal clasp. The picture below doesn't show the metal clasp well, but it definitely is not going anywhere and it's the smallest, flattest fanny pack I've ever seen (8"x5"x less than 1/2" thick).

Would you be allowed to wear something like this clipped to your belt loop? or around your neck? Do they make you remove necklaces/lanyards?

I wore my vera bradley belt bag with no problem - lanyards also, but I always tucked them under my shirt just to be safe!

So, I'm thinking my approach will be: long t-shirt that I can pull down over the fanny pack. Hopefully they'll just think it's another roll of flab, right?! :) I really don't want to be putting my valuables in a locker!

Along the lines of that Vera Bradley bag, I have a bag I use for theme parks. I wear it slung across my body and it sits at my hip. It is pretty small and I have been allowed on numerous rides with it. I haven't been to Universal, however, so I don't know if I'll be able to take it on rides there. Anyone else wear this type of bag and go on some of the thrill rides? If not, it's not huge deal. My sister isn't a big fan of coasters, so she usually ends up holding our bags if necessary.

Cross body bags are not allowed.

Thanks! I'll have both of those items I posted with me and was curious if they'd make me put them in a locker. Now if I could just find a way to carry my handy cooler fan in line with me.:rotfl:

When I was there this past May I wore a Very Bradley mini hipster. They made me put it in the lockers at Mummy and Men In Black. I was really surprised because it was cross body and smaller than most fanny packs. They said it was still a loose item.

I was in WWOHP 16th with my family and we all made in onto FJ with our fannypacks. I think it really depends if you get noticed or not but we were fine on the ride and didn't have a problem. They've all got three prongs!!
