Will they have to cancel reservation and rebook to make the dining party fewer?

I have a dining reservation at one of the hard to get restaurants -- BOG. Now two people in our party are thinking they would rather park hop that day and just get lunch at BOG before hopping. The other two in our party want to stay in MK and eat dinner at BOG on our reservation. If I call to modify that reservation, will they cancel the original and rebook us? If so, I am worried that we will lose our reservation. What should I do?

Haven't done it @ BOG, but have had to do this @ Le Cellier & the Wishes Dessert Party. I have dropped my party from 3 to 2 with no problems. I still had the same confirmation number after dropping the extra guest.

If I can just give a suggestion: looking at your ticker, it looks like you are still have a while til your vacation. I wouldn't drop those extras til just before or during your trip. They may change their minds again & you will have to make a new adr to add them back in. And you know how hard that will be! ;)

Wanted to add: I have read that you can just show up with fewer guests than your adr is for with no penalties. So you probably don't have to modify your adr @ all, if you are worried about it. I have not done this myself, tho, so can't say for sure.

Thank you.
I had hoped I could wait until we are ready to leave for the trip. I am still hoping they change their minds.
I just wanted to make sure the two of us staying would not have an issue. If that would be the case, then I wanted to do it earlier to give us time and a chance to watch and try to rebook with the smaller party size.

I would do nothing and keep your current reservations.

Since BOG is such a high demand, if you cancel most likely you won't be able to rebook. There is no penalty if less people show up for you reservation that what you originally booked. They will either set you at your original size table or a smaller one to accommodate your group.

Good to know there is no penalty. I would prefer to do nothing just to keep it safe. I was worried that they would be upset with me at the restaurant and not seat my daughter and me.

I have no experience with BOG, but we have done this at 'Ohana without any penalties. Our ADR was for 6, and there was only 4 of us.

I would keep you current reservation as well. We had less people show up for our ADR at Crystal Palace once and it wasn't a problem. We just told the hostess and they accommodated us accordingly. We weren't charged the $10 cancellation fee for the other 2 people either.

Thank you all so much for the helpful information! :thumbsup2 I will just keep my current reservation and hope the other two will come along. If not, DD and I will go without them and not worry about modifying it.

I would also just keep the current ADR as is and just show up with a smaller party on the day of, BOG is too hard to book so I'd keep it just in case the others change their minds about going

They won't penalize you for showing up with less than your reservation is for. We did this with the Candlelight Package last year, only 2 made it out of 6, and they had no problem with it. No dirty looks either ;)

We showed up BOG a few weeks ago with 4 instead of the 6 we had reserved for as in between making reservations and booking our trip, my parents were unable to go and I didn't want to risk loosing the ressie (I was prepared to accept the penalty if we were charged just because I wanted to eat there so bad but turns out we didn't receive any penalty). We were not charged. I just informed them when we were checking in that we only had 4 instead of the 6 and we were even sat at a table for 4 then.
