Will they feed kids in the kids clubs?

Hi, my niece and nephew will be 4 and 6 when we're on the Wonder this summer. If the adults go to Palo, can the kids eat in the clubs? There are older cousins who will be 11-14, so we'll send them to the MDR. Thanks!

My advice: Take the kids to Cabanas before sending them to the kids club and you heading off to Palo. They *will* feed kids who are there during meal time, but it is not anything to write home about. (Cheese sandwiches and juice boxes, etc.) And if your kids has a food allergy? Well, it won't be the best of scenarios.

Trust me, they will be happier with a quick trip for some chicken fingers and some fries first. ;)

Yes, they can have dinner in the club; however it is at a set time which may not coordinate with your Palo time so check your Navigator to make sure they are there during the club dinner time.

Great advice -- thank you! These kiddos will be THRILLED to eat at Cabana's for dinner. I forgot that was a possibility.

Just a note on this - Cabanas is not a buffet for dinner. It's a sit-down table service with a limited menu pulled from the other menu(s) available that evening. If you're going to send your kids to Cabanas, you might as well send them to the main dining room.

Well, we are hoping to GET a Palo reservation tonight at midnight when our window opens up. So I don't know yet. I think pool deck or room service would also be fine, though.

Just so people know, lunch is sandwiches, cheese sticks, fruit salad, salad.
In the evening it's always hot food that is served, but one option and it's different every night but includes things like: pizza, lasagne, meatballs and Mickey pasta, mac and cheese and corn dogs, chicken tenders and fries...

Food is always announced, multiple times, so that all children that need to eat have definitely had the option, but no one is forced to eat so if they chose not to.
When I first started, they made all the kids stop what they're doing and at least look at the food.

It's not great food, but sometimes it's all that works for some families, and if a kid is hungry enough it goes down ok.

Yeah, but this is better than I remember! Most kids like these kinds of foods. We probably timed it poorly with our youngn' and found the cheese sandwich. :teeth: I forgot about Cabanas being a sit-down affair at night. There's always Pete's Boiler Bites/Daisy's Delights and Room service.

Anyway, lots of options available to you guys. Enjoy your trip!

My kids (8 & 6 at the time) somehow missed the announcement and were starving when I picked them up around 10. And they never said anything! We ended up actually having a very nice time watching Funnelvision while they ate chicken tenders and fries on deck.

Can you send them to the Main Dinning room with the older cousins? The reason I ask is because 2 years ago we were in the member cruise my family had 4 cabins, (the one coming up we have 6 cabins) well my niece and nephew who were 13 and 14 at the time were the big cousins to 3 younger cousins 6,7,8 and the adults went to Palo and all the kids went to the MDR and my niece and nephew were thrilled that they were the big cousins and were able to take them to dinner.

This is a great question. In general, the answer is yes, but I'm sure they draw the line somewhere. Definitely consider asking your server when you get there.

Can one of the CMs around here (or former CMs) tell us what the actual policy is as far as ages of children eating in the MDRs without kids, or maybe it is on a case by case basis.

The four-year-old is real firecracker, LOL! (When my DD was reading her a list of which kid drinks were available at a restaurant: "Stop telling me what I want to drink!") So in this case, I would not be comfortable having my kids be in charge of her in a restaurant. In other situations I can see how this would be an option, though.

That makes sense. The 11-14 YOs will have a blast in the MDRs alone. I don't know if they've had a lot of experience eating without "grown-ups" so it could be quite a treat. And the Servers will take great care of them, especially if you tell the servers ahead of time that you won't be with the kids that night.
