Will they ever expand Fantasyland?

This is a new forum for me so excuse me if this topic has been covered before. We make several trips to WDW each year and always find Fantasyland to be so crowded that often you can barely navigate through with a stroller. Not to mention extremely long waits on fast passes and long standby lines.
Since MK is the favorite park of most families with little ones, do they have any plans to add more kiddie type attractions to park?

Well if the rumors are true. They plan on making the former location of the living seas into a Pooh area with characters.

I think you mean the 20,000 Leagues area, which was already part of Fantasyland, and yes, the word does seem to be that this area will be aimed mostly at the little ones.

I haven't seen any rumors regarding a Fantasyland expansion. However, the area behind it is just a parking lot, so it could be done if they wanted to.

I seem to recall a rumor a while back that they were going to add a "parking lot" for strollers for Peter Pan & Its a Small World that would open up that walkway...

There is a new stroller parking area at the base of the old Fantasyland Skyway station. The new area combine with the changes coming to the Its a Small World queue will ease congestion in the area between Its a Small World and Peter Pan. The 20,000 Leagues area has been filled in and will open soon as a Pooh meet and greet area. The 20,000 show building which is quite large and extends behind both Fantasyland and Mickeys Toontown area is also being demolished and is tagged for future development. There is no parking lot behind Fantasyland it is the main entrance to the Utilidors where deliveries are made, some company vehicles are parked at the entrace as well

Thanks for the correction. When I took the behind the scnes tour, they took us back there via the utilidors. I recall sing the area you mentioned, I just recalled it being bigger than it probably is.

There's a large area between the built-up part of Fantasyland and the train track. Yes, a major Utilidor entrance is there, but that entrance could be moved north if Fantasyland were expanded to the north (with a resulting extension of the Fantasyland Utilidor).

In fact, if you look at how Fantasyland is designed, it's clear that the original design was done with an eye toward such a future expansion. The Pinnochio Village Haus curves around. Then there's just a fence that could easily be removed if the path is continued to the north.

What's changed over the years is that Disney was decided -- correctly or not -- that it would be better business to build additional parks than to expand the Magic Kingdom to fill the interior of the train loop.

Talking of strollers......... I'm about to go on my first strollerless trip in many years (having 4 kids) & in my experience the No.1 way to stop your stroller being pinched is to firmly tie a diaper bag with a diaper made to appear soiled (with choc spread preferably) on the stoller. Theives always make for any other stroller!! Ha ha

Magic Kingdom should get a face lift! :) Widen the paths, add on to all of the lands, and put in more sit-down restraunts. But about fantasyland, I would take that area behind it and put in some of the Fantasyland attractions that are at Disneyland, ex: Casy Jr. Circus train, Storybook Canals, Alice and Wonderland, ect. I actually want to be an Imagineer :earsboy: when I get out of college and I scetch my ideas down a lot. :teeth: But Magic Kingdom does sort of need a make-over. Bye! :wave2:

I would love to see an expansion of Fantasyland........as long as the expansion doesn't include more character greeting areas.

:rolleyes2 Thanks MM02! I feel the same way.
If they put another meet & greet in MK I'm gonna go crazy!! While their at it, why not add a few more stores at the ends of all the rides??!! QUALITY not quanity!

PS> :disrocks:

Heard that 20,000 Leagues area will be the 100 Acre Wood Play Area. I really wanted a new attraction not another play area. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

We'd all like more rides, but it does appear that there is a demand for character meet and greet areas (which helps alleviate congestion from character appearances in general public areas) and the playgrounds.

Actually you are quite wrong. If you looked over the fence near the restaurant you would see it is a 2 story drop to the utilidor main entrance directly under the fence.

Actually, I am quite right.

And Dznefreek is quite right about the drop. That's why I wrote, "There's a large area between the built-up part of Fantasyland and the train track. Yes, a major Utilidor entrance is there, but that entrance could be moved north if Fantasyland were expanded to the north (with a resulting extension of the Fantasyland Utilidor)."

In other words, I'm aware that the built-up area of Fantasyland and the fence are elevated. Fantasyland sits on top of the Utilidor, and a northward expansion of Fantasyland would also need to be elevated.

It's clear that Fantasyland was designed with such a future expansion in mind.

I agree sooooooooooo much it's not funny! :sad2:

Hmm, in many cases those meet-and-greet areas draw large crowds of screeching littl'uns away from the regular ride lines. Not entirely a bad thing.
