My dh and I will be taking our now 2 year old dd to WDW on March 12-16, 2008. She will turn 3 on March 14, 2008. I understand that her park admission will be free for the duration of the trip since she will be 2 when we check in on the 12th. However, we are taking her to Chef Mickey's for dinner on March 14 for her birthday meal. I told them when making the ADR that we will be celebrating her 3rd birthday at that meal. Do you think we'll be charged for her meal on that day? It's really no problem if they do, I just want to be prepared.

Thanks!

I believe they go by the age of the child when you check in. i am not sure as I have never had this issue but I remember reading this somewhere!

yes, you go by the day you check in, my ds turn 10 while we were at disney and i ask them this. so your's will go as 2 years old. enjoy your vacation!

As far as the age at check in, they go by the age at check in for when you have a package purchased in regards to the park ticket and the dining plan, but if you are not on a package plan, then IMHO, there is a chance they will charge you for your then 3 year old's meal.

Same thing if you were at Disney and your child was 2 and then a few days later they turn 3 and you go to either MVMCP or MNSSHP, you'd have to purchase a ticket. That also wouldn't be part of a package which locked in the age they were at check in.

This is, of course, my opinion. :)

We were at WDW when our neice turned 3. We checked in the day before her birthday and she was treated as a 2 year old for the whole trip when it came to park tickets and meals. We were there on our DVC points so did not have a dining plan for the trip.

My two year old turned three this past October in Disney. He was FREE THE ENTIRE TRIP! It did not matter about package or dining plan... He was free the whole time. Even for the Halloween Party!

I agree that you should be prepared to possible pay for her. I have taken several of my twos just before turning three during the trip and they have been free for most things. However, with it being celebrated and noted as three, someone may make you pay. I don't think so...but be prepared.

It depends on the restaurant. On my DD's 3rd birthday, we ate at CM for breakfast and did not get charged. That night, at 1900 PF, we did. It didn't matter to us- we were on the dining plan and just paid out of pocket for her.

We were charged as well when our kids turned 3. One server commented that our present was an extra charge on the bill.
