and what do you guys think it might be...under the sea park maybe? a 'full' Pixar Park? a rides park (though i really really REALLY hope not *** that's just not what Disney's about). Or might they think about updating and expanding Hollywood studios or AK?

any thoughts?

oh absolutely but it won't go on forever, Ak is over 10 years old now...I can't help but thinking there must be talk going on at imagineering

I'm sure there is.There is always planning being done. Many of the plans never see the light of day though. I think at this point they would be better off adding attractions to the existing parks.

The consistent rumor is a "rides park" along the lines of a "Villains" theme -- the idea would be to cater to the older kids and adults. I imagine that they'd be sure to provide some attractions for the younger kids as well, along with probably a few shows or interactive exhibits.

I think it's more likely that, capital permitting, they'd buy up Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, PA and re-do the park for the previously aborted "American Experience" (or whatever it was called) in Front Royal, PA, since AB's parent company is seeking to divest themselves of the parks (so I hear). They'd probably have to close the park (or large portions of it) for a least a year -- more likely, 18 months, say starting in October and running through March of the second year -- to re-theme it. And that's a large budget hole when they're already cutting corners.

It's a shame, personally, because I'm close enough to Williamsburg that we'd probably become AP holders. :upsidedow

ETA: The other argument in favor of Williamsburg is that it's ocean-accessible which will add an additional destination for Disney Cruises.

I'd actually LOVE if they did a park full of rides like EE, TT, TOT and RRC. I would still want them to pay attention to detail, and make it themed and Disney-fied of course. But it would be nice to have a park to go to that had a bunch of Disney thrill rides all in one park. I'm not a fan of cedar point type thrill rides - I'm not that intense, so a park that was filled with Disney thrill rides would be perfect for me :)

IIRC, not even 50% of the Disney World land has been developed, meaning there is plenty of room for a supposed 5th park in the future.

But, as it was said above, I don't think this will happen in the next 5-10 years due to the economy.

I personally wouldn't go for an all ride park, too Universal Studios (:rolleyes1) for my liking. Disney, to me, isn't about rides, it's about ambiance and scenery.

But that's just me.

Either that's a typo, you're worse at geography than I am, or they've up and moved Williamsburg, and the Atlantic Ocean recently :lmao: :lmao:

Ooh something in Williamsburg would be so cool & closer for me! ;)

I'd like to see a Villians park - I think that would be really neat. And Disney would totally do it up right. You just know it.

Until the economy improves, it's doubtful that Disney will build a 5th theme park. They're numbers were down 32% last quarter, and I don't think that warrants spending billions on a new park.

Disney really needs another park, they keep building resorts but nothing new for people to do and we are getting to the point where there is WAY too many people for the attractions they have.

Yeah, that's a typo -- it's Virginia, not Pennsylvania. Oopsie.

Yeah I don't think disney is a rides kinda place either but i'm sure there are lots of people who would love it!

For the longest time I thought they might do a disneysea type park but I'm not so sure now. there has been some amazing art work around with that kind of feel to it though.

A Pixar park would be fantastic and it would make sense now that pixar runs Disney animation (including the 2D stuff) I would love to see more in Hollywood studios, it's so close to being a really great park but aaagh it never quite makes it (it's a shame they didn't get to do more with the henson company in the end) I would love to see more pavilions in world showcase too (and apparently there's still lots of room, possibly for a second lagoon)

A rainforest section in AK would be a really good addition considering the amount of animals you could include. Just some thoughts there...The next 5 years will be tough but disney is disney and so there are going to be some amazing things just round the corner I'm sure

You know what's really funny? As we sit here and contemplate what could be around the corner, there are dozens of Disney Imagineers doing the same exact thing...but getting paid for it.

I agree with the thought along the lines of buying up an AB property. Probably would be Sea World because of the location. They would also get the Dolphin Cove thing with it. They could utilize transportation systems currently in place and retheme it and have it tie in with the cruise line part of the business some how. AB will be selling the properties off, but I don't think Disney would buy up the Busch Gardens parks. Iwould like to see Disney build a new thrill ride park on the property along the lines of Universal. I know DS11 would love that.

Folks I'm going to move this to the rumors board. Its a better fit there. Thanks Rich

A Florida DisneySea would be pretty awesome.

I don't know what would happen to the Living Seas at that point though...

I'm sure they'd come up with something for it, but I still think it would make LS a ghost town.
