I noticed on the historical crowd calendar that they had a Villains Unleashed the same Saturday that we will be there this year . I do not see it on the crowd calendar for this upcoming August. Do you think they will have it again or not ?

No one knows, as you may have guessed by now from the lack of responses.

Ok so no one knows right now . I wish I knew so I can make some plans.

It was announced quite late last year... But unless they've done SERIOUS work on the event, I'd steer clear. (They ended up refunding my nonrefundable ticket, last year was that bad).

Any word on this yet? Last year it was announced June 4. I think I was actually one of the only people to enjoy it. Disney ended up calling me because I sent them an email about my experiences (good and a few bad) and they refunded me the cost of the tickets anyway even though I said I enjoyed it.

In order to do it and not have it be a massive cluster again, they'd have to reduce tickets sold by A LOT. Something they've never seemed willing to do.

I thought someone posted not too long ago that there was not going to be one, but they were doing something else. Oh I wish I could remember what it was. Anyone else remember?

I would follow the advice given here. Don't do it. The first time it was bad, they promised they'd do a better job. Then last year it was worse. It may come back under a different name in the future, but I doubt they'll run it again. I had high hopes for the event, but I too asked for a refund while walking out early. Terrible.

I was under the impression that a lot of day guests just stayed, but I might be wrong.

The party ID was a lanyard and they were checking everywhere. I didn't see anyone without a lanyard, so I don't think that was an issue (or at least not a major one).

The first year it was not a ticketed event so day guests stayed as many poured in. Last year it was ticketed and most had lanyards but my DD arrived late WITH a ticket and they had run out of lanyards so that alone tells me they oversold it, probably to day guests.

We will never do it again. First year we were in DLR and it was a zoo. So unorganized and chaotic. Last year they had it when we were there so I said "Guess we are meant to see villains! Lets do it, its ticketing it will be way better" Wrong. My DW, DD, and DFiL left way before the fireworks. Lines for characters were way over an hour. It was so bad that we spent an hour sitting (and actually eating) in Pizza Planet. Yea, that bad. I complained the next day at guest services. Told them that I understood Disney is a capitalistic venture but it was the first time I ever felt "had" by the company. We received a full refund.

People had reported that about the Villains Soiree, which is a completely different event that is attached to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Ah, yes that is what I had read about. I thought someone posted that this was in place of the separate villain party.

Why don't they hold the event on multiple days this way everyone's not clamoring for one day - and the event can be spread out.

Also it would take some pressure off the magic kingdom during Halloween as you can have HS offering Halloween fun too...

Just an idea

Last year sucked for sure and I don't complain here. They need to plan it an hour after normal crowds are gone and only sell a marginal to make money but make it special amount of tickets. Like with the dessert parties. This is why we are bagging "night of joy".
