Will the magic bands work before an onsite stay?
We have AP and will be going next weekend but are not staying onsite until mid March. I was wondering if the bands will work next weekend since UPS will deliver them here on Monday? I've already linked our AP to them. Anybody know?

My understanding is that for an AP holder to use their MB during an off-site trip the band needs to have been used prior for an on-site one.

Regardless whether or not you are staying on site, a magic band with your AP linked to it should work for admission to a park, 365 days a year. Having said that, I would carry some other proof that I had an AP. I do have an AP and always plan to carry the card with me while at WDW.

Currently an on-site stay may be required for making FP+'s in advance, but certainly not required for entry into a park when a valid AP has been linked to a Magic Band.

I agree, I plan on having my AP with us but was won eroding if the MB would work prior to a stay.
