Will the Village be okay for DS 11 1/2??

I don't want to read Screenit.com and see any spoilers. DS 14 and DS 11 1/2 really want to see it. Younger DS is usually ok with scary movies, he saw Signs and loved it. Is it scarier than "I see Dead People?" (can't remember name of movie)

I See Dead People or Sixth Sense and Signs are MUCH scarier than The Village.

As mentioned before the Village is more suspenseful than scary. My son is also 11 1/2 and he LOVED it. I think if they expect it to be a scary SCREAM type movie they will be highly disappointed. Truthfully, it is more of a thought provoking movie with an underlying love story. NOT your typical "boy" movie.

My son and I discussed the movie's theme afterwards, which can be a bit daunting to one that age.

Thanks Robin, it sounds right up my alley and they want to see it. They will probably be expecting something different but too bad! OK it's popcorn and nachos for dinner tonight.

I am a big chicken about scary stuff! My 12 year old had made arrangements to go see it with friends when they all cancelled on him. I was going to have to drive them there anyway so I figured I'd stay. I told my son I was not too hot on seeing it. The first few minutes of the movie they play the music so loud you can hardly hear some of the actors talking! But, it does build suspence. The movie does involve monsters in the plot and the first time one was "sighted", someone in the packed theater screamed and everybody laughed...so that cut the tension. After that, it was better. The movie is not at all what you think it is. If your child can handle suspense well, they will get something out of it.
