Will the Return of AP's Affect the Resale Market?

Maybe the impact will be felt more on the rental market. Selling is a bit drastic, people who didn't want to buy multiple sets of tickets might have decided to wait and rent excess points waiting to see if AP would return. I can see rental prices have really gone down and wondering if the lack of AP might have caused the market to be flooded with points.

A 10 day pass is still significantly cheaper than an AP, after all.
Not picking your comment out in particular other than just to use as an example of an additional point when looking at the cost of APs: keep in mind, that when looking at the price difference over multiple years, that price difference is only for the first year. After that, renewal is discounted 15%. So, for example, a 10-day park hopper ticket is only $10 cheaper than renewing the Sorcerer Pass. To me - the AP magnets alone are worth $10 (not including the discount benefits since those are largely the same as the DVC blue card discounts).

So, when factoring in future years at the renewal discount, the breakeven point is only a 2-day Park Hopper and a 3-day Park Hopper (not everyone would buy Park Hopper, but since AP has Park Hopping, seems more apt as comparison). So, while still requiring two trips, it's not two lengthy trips - 2 weekends are enough. Also, one long trip (10-day) is pretty much the same.

Which is us..we go for shorter trips so after two visits, we are in the black in terms of ticket costs!

We do a longer trip, usually 8-days or so, but the APs allow us to add a short trip each year for a weekend without the kids. I don't think we'd do that if we had to buy 2 or 3-day tickets. We're also adding 2 nights at Beach Club after a cruise this summer. While we might not do much park time, we will likely at least just try to get in and ride Guardians a couple times. No way without the APs.

You're right - having the AP takes away any second thoughts of popping into EPCOT for 2 hours just to ride GOTG, and maybe a festival stand for a snack..... It would be a waste of a regular ticket day - but it's fun (and relaxing) to do.

People have made choices because they weren't able to get APs, including renting out points and even selling or listing contracts. I would expect some of that to reverse. That could increase resale price and maybe fix what some around here claim is a "glut" of rental points. But this has delay of months or years. By then, DL pricing will be in charge. That should be interesting.

Now is the time to buy IMO.

I can say it has definitely kept me in the keep DVC camp.

This is what I have been doing because I couldn't justify paying for tickets every time. I was giving Disney a few years to rebound from their covid adjustments before I decided if I was going to start listing some contracts. Now that I see some changes for the better once again I just had a BLT resale offer accepted ( my first resale but I don't need the points for benefits, just more visits).
