Will the Poly refurb affect the monorail??

In another thread someone mentioned that during one of the other resort refurbs on the monorail line, the monorail was shut down for days a time because of the cranes/construction. Being that the Poly will be undergoing a refurb, is this likely to happen again??

We'll be going in February and I THINK the Poly starts their refurb in January??

The monorail shutdwon was due to the construction of the GF DVC. They have been doing major construction over there. I doubt they would shut down the monorail for a Poly refurb unless they are doing construction to the platform.

They are doing building by building room refurbishments apparently, starting in November, with the Aoeterra (sp?) building and moving through. Hawaii (the CL bldg) will be done Jan and Feb....and it's supposed to end in July 2013...that's obviously if things go to plan.

There is a huge difference between cranes and major construction; and redoing the interiors of the rooms. There is no safety issue, unless theywere doing a refurb on the main monorail tracks or station.

Wasn't sure what the Poly refurb entailed. From the sounds of it though, if its just interior nothing for us to worry about.

Hi, Mousemommy1 . Did you see this info on Tikiman's site or the Poly thread (or somewhere else)? The part I bolded caught my attention as we are planning a Poly CL stay in July 2013 (7/21-7/24) after a Disney cruise. It would be great if the refurbs were complete by then (that is if things go as planned, like you said) .

A CM at the front desk told me room rehab will be started November 1st. It must be official, if front desk CMs are telling this to guests.

Well, yes. The info is on the tikiman website. But, I would argue that it holds some credence since some of the test rooms are already in use....and the fact that you cannot book Poly CL for the months of Jan and Feb, which goes right along with the schedule that he published showing the Hawaii refurb during that time period...

And, will Disney ever really confirm this??? They'll wait until you get there to spring the info on you!

I have read that November was to be the start date and I agree that if the front desk CMs are telling this to guests, then I would think there has to be some truth to it. Of course, anything can change at any time and there are alot of CMs that give out wrong information, but usually the resort CMs don't say much unless things are going to happen .

Yes, of course all plans are always subject to change, but this is what is planned as of now.

I think when CMs give out the wrong information, same with Tikiman, it is info that was correct at the time they gave it, but plans get changed later.

Ive also heard the main building needs work also... something about roof/asbestos or something....

So the pool will be worked on as well? The quiet? The volcano? We'd like to go June 2013, but if the pool is a no go we would go somewhere else.

That's what I've heard. The volcano pool is supposed to be undergoing refurb along with everything else. We love the pool and would be spending alot of time there in July, so our plans would change too if it was going to be closed.
