Just wondering if the new point chart will have the desired effect of members booking a higher percentage of their DVC days on the weekend.

I will still not do weekend stays....For me the weekend points went UP....

I couldn't afford them before....even less now.

We only do weekend nights for a F&W trip, and the numbers just dropped by 2 points -- we won't change much. As it is we stay off-site during high point times.

I do not do weekend stays and still won't. I think that is why they changed the chart the way they did. They did not lower it enough that those of us that are "cheap" with our points will go on the weekends. So they can still rent the rooms for cash on the weekend and they get extra points from us. JMHO..:sad2:

I'm sure the weekend stays will be booked, but I won't be there on my points.
Hell, I'm gonna have to cut one day from each of my two yrly trips as it is now.

I couldn't afford weekends before (unless I stayed one night in a studio) so I am certainly not going to add them in now. In fact, now I can't even afford all of my weeknights!

It was going to take us 10 years of vacations before this DVC purchase made $ sense.

Now I'm really trying not to feel like I just made the dumbest decision of my life.

It really looks like we missed the "good" years at DVC. So many new changes, RCI, min. add-on increase, weekday point increase. What's next. I had been talking to my mom & sis about joining, not now.

The change won't impact my typical reservations in any way.

Just a quick thought-

My understanding is that per the POS DVC can only make up to a 20% change per year. Is this just the first year of several to come where DVC goes through a process that continues to reduce weekend point costs and to raise weekday costs?

We are new purchasers. Sent in our contracts right before all this hit. So, we are still in our 10 day cancellation window. My wife is out of town this weekend, but we'll need to sit down and make sure we do not want to exercise that cancellation right, or seek a point modification in our existing contract, in light of changes and potential further changes.

At this point there are no promises. If you have a certain number of points for a certain number of days for a certain time of year and no flexibility, you could be disappointed in the future.

There seems to be a lot of anger now so they might leave the points alone for a while and then in a few years do it again or never touch them again or do it for 2011.

I hope they do!

I just called to see if I could up my 1BR reservation to a 2BR at AKV Kidani for June 5-9.

I asked the MS Rep for 3 searches:

1. 2BR at Kidani
2. 2BR at Jambo
3. Studio at Kidani

EACH TIME, the MS Rep said there was "plenty of availability" for the Fri and Sat, but that Sun and Mon were completely booked up.

I'm hoping things even out a bit so that this type of stuff doesn't happen as much.

We'll continue doing Sun-Thur - and another night or two elsewhere. The "new" weekend points are still high.

At the risk of sounding stupid.....what change? I haven't heard anything.

You have alot to catch up on! DVC is revising the points chart. In general (but not always), weekday points are up, weekends are down. See this thread with almost 1,000 replies:

Personally, I have almost always done Saturday to Friday. That will not change. I checked the charts to look at the trips I have planned this year, AKV 6/14-20 savannah view studio, would be 3 more points next year. BWV Dec 5 to 11 boardwalk view 1 bedroom would be 5 more points next year. I originally bought DVC almost 10 years ago for my mom and I to have 2 trips a year in a 1 bedroom, I had enough points for 5 nights in May at OKW and 6 nights in early December at BWV and we always did that. Since she passed over 3 years ago, I've done different times, sometimes studios, sometimes 1 bedrooms. Some years I bank, some years I borrow. So I'll just have to work my way around this.

We will downsize to a studio for our January trip, but extend to probably 1 weekend night on top of our sun-thursday. 1BR was nice, but not a necessity.

The last couple of years we have been getting BWV Grand Villas. The points for them went UP a lot for weekends. We will go back to a 2BR.

We purchased enough points to include weekends, and we will continue our regular vacation habits, which include long weekends as well as full weeks.

We are "empty nesters" and go every October for 10 days - Friday through the following Sunday. I just figured out our new point system for a BCV studio and actually saved 6 points on the trip. Our May trips stayed the same but that one is a Sunday - Sunday.

no changes for us. we do 2-3 weekends days on each trip. depends on who's going with us. but our plan has allwas been to cover at least one weekend each trip.
