Will the moat still be drained late April/May

Ok so how bad do you think it will be by mid May? We have already had a huge let down with the amount of construction bing done at the Poly. This is my childrens's first visit to Disney. How bad does the castle look without the moat? Any plans one how deep they will be into the construction by mid May?

Darn, that's a long time. Hopefully they surprise us and this gets completed sooner. I feel like every time we visit in the last number of years there is so much construction everywhere. I am anxiously craving to go when it's "done". I know there is always something going on work wise, but its all been pretty major stuff for a while.

I will be there next in early May 2015, hopefully it's not a mess. Seems a little too long to me that this would take until roughly just before 2016. While I think it looks great, it's not quite thaaaat intense looking.

Plus they also still need to fix the Tree of Life at AK too, don't they?

I just saw pictures on wdwmagic of the construction walls.

Wow. It's really going to look horrible for a long time :(

I feel so bad for anyone going for the first time during this period.

We will be there late April/early May. I am hoping that it won't look horrible yet. Is that a ridiculous hope? Anyone have a report of what it looks like now?

Was the picture you saw construction walls by the Hub at MK? Are they recent pictures or just general pictures of construction walls of the past at WDW? Can you post the pic?

From the Disney released fly, it looks like the new paths are awfully close to the existing ones. Wasn't the intention with this construction to build extra paths so guests could maneuver in the parks when the main pathway was crowded during the parades and fireworks? They seem to be so close together that guests watching will just filter into these paths when the main path is full, and Disney will just continue to have the same problem they have now.

They will likely reserve the inner walkways for viewing and the outer ones for walking. They will have cast members keeping the outer walkway moving just like they currently do with the outside half of the current walkways. They just wont have to have taped off sides and super narrow (and claustrophobic) walking zones.

Let me tell you, we got stuck trying to cross the HUB on accident one super crowded night. (We really should have looked at the parade times! Bad timing on our part!) And it was an absolute nightmare. I swear that my husband was about to just bolt for the exit, crowds be damned! This new plan is so very needed!

The moat will not be filled in but bridged over for the additional pedestrian sections. This will allow the present water circulation to continue.

There will be a significant increase in pedestrian areas and two additional pathways to/from Main St. and the castle hub added.

Before and after.

Ridiculous to take over a year and a half to do all that. Super disappointing. I'm stuck in a trip next month but won't be back until I know this is done. There is way too much construction going on at once!

supposedly they are removing the moat, filling it in and making it some kind of viewing area.

So VERY disappointed, over the chaos at Disney World, but sucked it up for my DMIL. She recently booked a river cruise to the Netherlands, especially to see the tulips (this month). Thankfully, we discovered this trip, quickly enough to cancel it (she has early Alzheimer's). She just wanted to see the flowers, so we booked last minute to take her to F&G. I wonder how many more, unpleasant enhancements will greet us, once we arrive. Ugh!

That's great that you're going during F&G though, at least it will be pretty over there...and at least they aren't ripping up Epcot. I hope you have a nice trip.

I am feelng more and more as if I made a mistake and should have went to Universal this year and see HP Castle. If our trip was not so close I would book the Hawaiian Hotel by Univeral and do their parks this year instead. Then maybe try WDW in 2017 when they have Avitar world done at AK. Just way too many disapointments so far starting with construction at the Poly, less PP photographers in the parks, consrtuction at DTD and now the main part of MK being torn apart. I can handle one disappointment. Heck I can even handle one major disappointmment but this is getting to be too much. I saved for three years for this trip in order to make it very nice for my children and my parents( the boys grandparents). I starting to think I would have been better off spending my money else where and have the vacation that is worth the amount of money I am spending.

One positive ~ Epcot will be beautiful. :flower3:

MK, not so much.

So, what is Disney supposed to do? Seriously? Improvements have to be made. Things have to be done. It will impact SOMEONES vacation no matter what they do. This is a long term project. Not something that can be done in a matter of weeks or months. But they NEED to extra walkways.

I agree that it does have to be done. I don't think it's going to look good at all, but I do think it's necessary if they insist on letting in the crowds they let in.

Anyway, I think the problem with this, besides the people who are going soon and didn't get advanced warning so that's always a bummer, is how long it's going to take. There is no reason why a project like this should take until Christmas 2015.

Ridiculous to take over a year and a half to do all that.

Just keep in mind they've got about 5-6 hours a night to work on it as due to the location, in the center of the park, they can't start until guests are gone and have to stop with enough time to clean up before the character breakfast guests come in.
