I keep hearing of getting WiFi for your computer. Do you have the same problems when you are trying to get a signal for your cell phone. I just put the internet on my phone for the trip. I am hoping as long as I have cell reception I can get on the internet. Am I wrong?

Thanks... counting down days...8 to go:cheer2:

We used both our Air card and Disney Internet. When we used our Air card we never had a problem. That was with At&T I can't tell you about anyother companys but i hope yours works

We used Verizon to tether our Blackberry's to our PC's with no problems.

I have AT&T. Why do I need an aircard? and what is an aircard?

An air card is a way for a lap top to connect to the internet via the same signal as the cell phones. Some people need it if they can not "tether" the lap top to their cell phone. I don't think you can use an iPhone to connect your laptop, some other phones won't work either.

I can connect my Nokia to the laptop via the USB connecter and then use the cell phone to let the lap top connect. Have not tried it yet, but it is supposed to work.

Blackberry via Sprint works at the Fort. So does netbook via Verizon.

As long as you have a cell connection (and you have a cell phone with the ability to connect to the internet), you will have an internet connection on the cell phone. A weak connection provides very slow internet access, but the cell connections at FW and at the parks seem to be pretty strong everywhere I have been (I have Verizon). Air cards, teathering, and cell phone wifi hot spots are topics connected with making a cellular internet connection available to other devices - e.g., a laptop.

I have service for my Blackberry through Verizon, but have never done this. Is there an extra charge when you tether or is it included in the data plan? We are heading down to the Fort on the 27th and I would love to be able to have internet without having to pay $9.95 per day.

Iphone worked in the 1600 loop. Do a search in this forum. There have been some good discussions on this topic.

I got a data card through Verizon for my laptop when we went to DW in Sept. last year for a business trip, it worked great. You get 30 days to try it out.

What type of phone do you have? I used my husbands droid, with verizon and tethered to my laptop to do school work. I used it for HOURS. It did disconnect me several times but I was on longer than 2 hours each time so I thought that may have something to do with it. I think you have to have a smart phone but not sure. My son gets internet connection with his straight talk service but I don't think his samsung phone will support the laptop connection. OR you can get a virgin card from walmart (about $100) and prepaid internet service (I recommend $20) for 30 days of use. I WISH that is what I had done since I used it so much for my school work.

My Verizon air card worked great there last time we were there & the Internet on my then AT&T Blackjack worked good too. I bet my tethered iPhone would work just fine as well. ;)

I don't want to hook up my laptop.. I just want to use my cell phone internet connection to look up things if I need to or read my emails. It sounds like I will be able to from the posts I have just read.I have a samsung impression with internet connection. Its not a smartphone but I can get on the internet.

Yes, you can do that then. My DS has straight talk which is verizon and he just has a basic internet capable phone and he used it all week.

I have used my AT&T aircard and my tethered iPhone at multiple locations at FW without problems except when other AT&T users are using all the 3G bandwidth. When there is no 3G bandwidth available I get AT&T edge which is similar in speed to a phone modem. When 3G bandwidth becomes available I automatically get switched. This could be a few seconds or many minutes.
