Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Found it!

Oh, gosh! I forgot about that. Well, if your loyal readers will forgive a little sidetrack...:::clears throat:::

I do not like roller coasters. Or Star Tours or any rides that throw you around. They make me physically ill. However, my sister is a thrill ride junkie. And one year, we went to Disney and I was about ten. Somehow she convinced/I deicded I was going to go on Space Mountain. I think perhaps that it was in the dark appealed to my fear of losing my stomach. If I can't see it, it's not so bad.

So on we went. And I was ten. I slid right down into that seat, and was held tighlty in. I believe I kept my eyes closed the whole time, as I was mortified. It wasn't too bad, I guess, but my stomach was in knots when we got off. I told my sister, I lost my stomach. She asked me if I wanted to go back and find it. I said "NO!" But seriously, that's one of my favorite memories with her from that trip. The other is where she took me to Typhoon Lagoon just the two of us. Anyhoo :rolleyes1

Fast forward twelve years. I'm 22, newly married, and on my honeymoon at...where else, Disneyworld. I'm a little older, a little wiser, and a little scardier. I decided it was time to try Space Mountain again with my DH. So we got in line. And I forgot about the queue. How it's very enclosed and when there's wall to wall people you can't see anything. And I had a panic attack. Because I'm claustrophobic.

Oh I know. I'm loads of fun, eh? So, there I am, halfway through the line, staring at my feet to avoid the feeling of the walls crushing in on me. DH says, do you want to just leave? I said, how, there's wall to wall people, and we're halfway through. I knew he really wanted to go on the ride, too, so I was trying to be a good sport.

So we finally got to the loading area, and I slid into my seat.

Guess what?

I WAS TALLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

So much taller than when I was ten. I don't know why this thought never occured to me, but alas it was too late to do anything about it. Here I was, a 22 year old, sticking completely out of the seat like any normal adult would and I thought...oh no...

and then the ride started.

And I kept my eyes closed the whole time.

But I went on.

Never again, folks. Never again. :lmao:

You'll love the Tevas. I have Teva flip flops and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They are so comfortable. Plus, you got such a great deal. Yay TK!!!

Ummm......I bought the Tevas. :rotfl2: They are too cute to pass up for that price. I got mine for $13.43 with shipping. YAHOO!!

I do remember that story about Space Mountain. I will have to post mine on my PTR.

Oh, Jen, I'm so glad you chimed in! I know you're a flip flop girl like me, so hearing that you think they're comfortable makes me feel loads better!:goodvibes

I think that's just about what mine cost. The cool thing too, even with them having been part of my budget, is that I just sold some stuff on Ebay that would have covered it were it not. I'm really working on the money coming in/not overspending thing. I always buckle down hugely before our trips.

I do remember that story about Space Mountain. I will have to post mine on my PTR.

Can't wait to read it!

I have those same Teva flip flops (mine are pink...pink is to me as green is to you). They are super comfy, but they needed some breaking in. So my advice is to break them in quite a bit before wearing them at the world.

Way to go on the price. I definitely did not get that great deal on mine!

So there they are. In the color, Petite Pesto. I mean, how cute is that? Used to be that everything I bought was blue, blue was my favorite color, but lately I've gravitated towards green, different shades, etc. Green...it's the new blue.

Must be the DIS's influence. ;)

So those are my new shoe purchase. I bought a size up for comfort, and I'm :worship: :worship: :worship: that they fit and are remotely comfortable. And I don't even have to feel guilty, my good friends. Because they fit into the budget.

As of yet, I haven't hit the budget for our month, and there's only a week and a half to go. If there was a running man smiley, it'd be right here.

Who's happier than TK?

:goodvibes

Yay for being under budget! Yay for inexpensive footwear!

Yay all around!

:yay: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Honda Civic! Do you get good gas mileage? Is it your non-moped vehicle? For your non-DIS days?;)

My Civic IS my non-moped, gas-mileage-lovin vehicle. My sweet Baby. She sips her regular unleaded and rewards me with about 33-35mpg, depending on whether or not she needs an oil change, air in her tires, etc.

A little song, a little dance, Batman's...nope, sorry, not that...

Riddle me this, riddle me that...who's even need of a great big map?

How much did Tink LOVE this movie? OHHHHHH so much. I can't explain to you. But I will quickly try:
Christian Bale - nuff said.
Heath Ledger - deserves the post-humous Oscar I've heard so much about. Hands down, Blew. My. Mind. They really should've renamed the move 'The Joker'. He was THAT amazing. God rest his sweet soul.
And there were, two, TWO, two villains for the price of one! ;)
I think you DH and I could probably talk for hours about it. Please tell me you're going to get to see it too!

A Tribute to Shoe-per Girl

Holy Carp! I'm being attributed! LOL

And you all know how my pirate-lovin', tiara-wearin' sis loves her some shoes. And it's rubbing off I tell you.

I am PROUD to accept full responsibility.

It's the perfect bag because DH carries it! Oh yeah, baby! :woohoo: As long as I got the man something masculine...read black and silver...and it's a backpack, he'll carry it.

So smart, Daniel-san.

Back to Shoe-Per girl and the genetic link.

Better than the missing link.

If there was a running man smiley, it'd be right here.

Smiley Requirement list:
1.) Casey's Hot Dog Passion smiley
2.) Running Man smiley

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely try to break them in at home, perhaps a couple of walks around my apartment complex here. We have a great walking trail I think it's a couple miles.:goodvibes

I never thought of it that way, but it must be seeping into my subconcious.

I second that Yay and add another YAY!!!!

I'm sure you guys could talk about it for hours. And if you'd like to, I'd be willing to sacrifice a portion of Lapu Lapu fest to that discussion. But not all of it. Because I need to be girly too.:lmao:

I do plan to see it, I have no idea when.

Crafty pirate. pirate:

I mean, even Captain Jack has a map when he's looking for the Fountain of Youth, right?

That's right, she can be taught!:thumbsup2

Tee hee. ;) ;)

My Tevas are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I even got my nephew Teva sandals. You'll never want to take them off!!

On a different note, have you checked out airfarewatchdog dot com? I found it on the Orlando International Airport website. If you go to MCO's website, there's a AirfareWatchDog screen showing the cheapest airfare to Orlando from different cities. It might be helpful.

Well, the later flight on the 21st went up. To the point where it's $200 one way. Which makes me :scared1: . I'm fairly certain that's over my threshold guys. It would make my total airfare cost over $1000. I cannot begin to fathom that.

Which has me look at the flight that leaves at 930, which causes me to lose my whole last day. And I'm sort of coming to terms with that at this pont. Because we are going to be in the MK on our last full day, and we'll have wonderful Lapu Lapu Fest to send us off in style. It's totally possible for us to catch Spectromagic, pop over to the bakery and do those last minute purchases the night before. The only reason this irks me is we have to be early, early birdies on our travel days which is frustrating. These flight times are so not me. I mean, sure I'm in a rush to get to the World, so leaving at 700am is okay, but in a rush to get home....meh.

This is also makes me have to figure out transportation. I'll have to talk to the folks and see if we can orchestrate something with my car, check pricing on leaving it there, or see if Dad could pick us up. Also, one of my coworkers offered because she lives so close, but that's such an imposition, I would consider it a last resort. She's a sweetie, and I know she offered, but I don't want to take advantage.

Anyhoo, that's the state of affairs in my household this morning. I'm leaning towards the 930. It would make my total airfare $777. Which isn't lovely, but it is the least expensive option out there right now, all airlines considered.

Any thoughts?

I think that you should do the earlier flight even though it is more inconvienent. That's just my two cents. Do you not have to figure out transportation for the later flight?? I am confused. :confused3

No, I wouldn't. It wouldn't get it until much, much later, and my dad would be home by then. He works third shift, so he doesn't get out of work until 11am. And there's no way he'd make it to the airport by 1215-1230 to pick us up. I can ask him if he can switch a shift because he has done favors for guys before, but I feel badly. I can still ask though. He's daddy. :goodvibes If he can, he will, and if he can't, perhaps we'll ask my coworker.

Ooooh. I see.

That stinks about giving up your last day, but I would go with that earlier flight -- that later flight is just too expensive :(.
I have to agree with CP. It's a lot of money for the later flight.

I'd fly the earlier flight. It's lousy to have to lose your last day, but it's not really worth all that extra money.

I say book it and be done with it. Especially if you're able to come to terms with it. I agree, I really dislike "shortening" the trip and having to be out so early in the a.m. on the last day, BUT, in an effort to find the silver lining:

*at least you'll be in early enough at home to really get settled and rest (and enjoy those cinnamon buns) before the week starts.
*you'll likely be in on time rather than being delayed. I find late flights out of MCO, regardless of the airline, tend to lean towards delayed because of the almost-daily afternoon thunderstorms. And really, do you want to have to deal with that and possibly turbulence with the nugget?
*maybe, after all of the action in the morning, the nugget will be able to nap on the plane, or, nap REALLY well when you get home.

Part of me wishes I wasn't going to be in Disney so that I could help you out with a ride home from the airport. I know it's a hike, but I'd totally be willing to do it, knowing it removes that stress from you.

I still think having your car dropped off at the airport a day or so in advance is probably the best option. Your dad can sleep and you can get home in your own time. And to save you some surfing since I happen to have the scoop on your airport, I have the rates for the parking. I'll PM them to you.

I think this is going to work out just the way it's supposed to.

:flower3:

Thanks to everyone who responded.

I'll be posting shortly with the results.;)

777 sounds like a very lucky number!

Well, I just like your attitude! That's certainly one way to look at it!:goodvibes

Mmm....cinnamon buns.

Is obvious that all I had for breakfast was raisin bran?:confused3

Also very true, and in all reality the little nut is awake that early, and all we have to figure out is breakfast for him on the plane.

Cinnamon bun anyone? Rice krispie treat shaped like Mickey? Or a flip flop?

*maybe, after all of the action in the morning, the nugget will be able to nap on the plane, or, nap REALLY well when you get home.
I have a feeling this will be the case, most likely with him napping at home. And, it gives DH a chance to reassimilate to :::gasp::: the real world before he has to go back to work the next day.

Awww, you're sweet.:goodvibes

I think it is too.
