Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Didn't mean to cause harm!

No, no, it was quickly remedied with a sip of tea, but still it was a dang good laugh!

I have a book of his collected works too, only mine is in a box in my old room at my parents' along with all the other books I don't yet have room for!

I should definitely dig it out before Halloween, though. :thumbsup2

:scratchin You ladies have given me much to consider.

This is great!

Earlier in his life I think he would have worn flip-flops -- well, maybe not early but when he was with Virginia and life seemed full of promise (until she contracted TB, became sick, and died). Afterwards, he would have begun his downhill spiral and would have worn crocs until he spiralled out of control and went to going barefoot.

:goodvibes

CP, I'm impressed. :thumbsup2

Teacher. :confused3

(Yes, I am saying that like Capt. Jack says, "Pirate." :lmao: )

BTW, head over to punkin413's TR -- she met Jack and has pictures and videos on her latest update. A very nice way to spend the evening.

WHOA! Pics and video?

Thanks for the tip. You like me, you really like me! ;)

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Of course I do.

I saw it and immediately thought, "TK must be told about this!"

Alright, have not watched the video yet (I think it would strain my sickly heart ;) ) but the pics are AWESOME!!!!

Hopefully in a few short weeks, that'll be me my friends. :thumbsup2

Gotta admit, though, that it's easier to clean spilled alcohol off of bare feet than off of footwear, water-resistant Crocs or no.

Only you'll have rope!

Whilst I be happy you have solved your mortal shoe dilemma, there is a distinct part of me that will miss all of the footwear drama.

This is probably the same part of me that picked out Shoe Addicts Anonymous as my next commute read after finishing Summer Sisters on the way home yesterday.

These so-called Mush flops have me curious.

Curiouser and curiouser.

And right on over to shoebuy.

Clear as mud.

So much to do. So much to do and so little time to do it in. And too much life getting in the way.

I guess I should be grateful to have such a wonderful little family to worry over. Of late, I've been going through a lot of personal strife. A lion's share, if you will. Which throws into sharp relief just how much I really need this vacation. And how I wish I could make it permanent. :::sigh:::

But I won't devote this whole chapter to my travails, because quite frankly, it's a book, not a chapter. And quite frankly, unrelated to this report...except that it really, really makes me appreciate this vacation all the more. And I can't wait to go.

So onward with the update. Yesterday I had to make a quick run to Walmart. There were some items I had forgotten to purchase the first time around, like hairspray and a stain stick. Have to love the stain stick. And since I forsee quite strongly the possibility of laundry on this adventure of ours, well, a stain stick is a necessity. Also, I received an e-mail that my Dropps (the travel size detergent) was in, so I picked that up as well. They're so cute. It's funny to think of detergent as cute, but they're just little and adorable, and I'm having a feeling will be so easy to pack. Excellent criteria, I think.

I also went on a little reading binge. As in I got three books from the library a week ago and have already finished two. And I had some Barnes and Noble gift cards just burning a hole in pocket, so to speak. But I was having a devil of a time deciding what to buy. Since I go through books like water, it feels extravagant to spend money on them. But, they're gift cards. Why waste, eh? So I finally decided on the first two in the Twilight series, and the Imagineering Guide to the Magic Kingdom. I liked the Guide as LL was talking about it, and it looked like something easy enough to carry with us. It is, nice and lightweight. I'm saving it for the plane ride/first day there. I figure it'll get me fired up (as if I need help in that arena) for the trip. And as far as Twilight, I'll say this much. Read it. Liked it. Finished in two days. :::sigh::: I read too fast. Ah well. I'm doing my best to save the second, New Moon for our trip. I have three weeks. We'll see how long I last. Bets, anyone? :lmao:

I'm a little concerned about the earliness of our departing flight. It is SO early in the morning. I'm not worried about myself and DH, we can handle it. I'm worried about throwing the little nut completely out of whack. Not quite sure what to do. I don't want to lose that whole day, so switching to the later flight wouldn't really solve anything. I'm just hoping that DS gets enough sleep. The plan is to leave him in his PJs so he can fall asleep if he wants to, and have clothes with us so he can change.

My packing lists are fairly complete, it'll just come down to actually doing it at this point. I need to remember which items we need on the plane as compared to what can get checked, and probably the Mon/Tue I'm off before we leave, I'll have DH bring over the suitcases from our storage unit. Then, it'll be real.

And I'll be so glad.

Because I'm burnt out. And on the fast road to a breakdown. Have been trying, trying, trying to put it off. To keep going. To be strong. Because that's what mothers do. They truck on, despite everything else. By remembering that the world is bigger than just me, and there's a little nugget counting on me to do the right thing. It's just become so difficult to determine what that is anymore.

"Up is down...that's maddeningly unhelpful."

"Clear as mud, Jackie..."

Clear as mud.

Refresh my memory...what time does your flight leave?

I think the little nugget will be fine. The first day will be an adjustment but I have a feeling he'll be pretty excited, or I hope he's excited. He's had practice flying as well, how have the past years gone? I think leaving him in his pj's is an excellent idea!

In three weeks, you will be in Disney and you will laugh at all the worrying and meh-ing you have done. :grouphug:

Our flight leaves at 700am.

Which means this family will be leaving our place around 430-500am. 500am is not so bad, he has woken up at 530 before on his own, but this is the thing. It's on his own. I'm just worried about having a cranky kid, but maybe when we tell him he's going to Disney World, that'll help.

And he does love plane rides, he thinks it's a big adventure, so no issues there. I just need to have plenty of snacks so if his ears hurt he can chew on something to relieve the pressure. :goodvibes

That is early. I think if you get him excited enough about it in the morning, everything will be golden. Maybe a Jack Sparrow toy will help sweeten the pot? The nugget does love Jack afterall.
I'm almost 26 and I still have trouble with my ears on planes. Last time I flew it was painful, no matter what I did.

Well, I do have some things set aside....from a certain someone..... :rolleyes1
Those are all being saved for the trip, so we have some exciting, new items.:thumbsup2

I am SO with you on this one!! LOTS of "life" happening around here and I am soooo ready for this trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.

I also sooo wish I could stay in Florida...

They ARE cute. It's ok, let it out and say it... "This detergent is cute!"

OMG I have that book and totally forgot about it!!! :scared1: I also have Epcot!....dang but I need to go find those today. They would be great to read on the plane!

Oh TK.... Hang in there, that trip's comin'!! :grouphug:

First of all, just your siggie makes me laugh.

Happiest Nom Ever. :lmao:

No joke, every trip we take, at the end, I always ask DH if he's ready to move to Florida yet. Every trip.

They ARE cute. It's ok, let it out and say it... "This detergent is cute!"

THE DETERGENT IS CUTE!!!!

Phew. I feel better. :thumbsup2

Oh TK.... Hang in there, that trip's comin'!! :grouphug:

Thank you, hon. The trip is coming. And I know we'll have a great time. I can't wait. :goodvibes

I have told DH that I wil be retiring to Florida with or without him. Though I mention that it would be nice to move to Orlando BEFORE retirement. Just shows that I am willing to compromise. ;)

I'm laughing over the cute detergent--but we must find cuteness in this world where we may, eh? :rotfl:

Ooh, I'll be curious to learn how you like New Moon! As I think I babbled on the Lapuette thread, Twilight was near unput-downable; it was New Moon where I slowed a little and started to get a little more iffy. I have Eclipse sitting on my shelf and will probably get to it after I read First Among Sequels, which I'll read after I finish The Host, which is also by Stephanie Meyer. It's somewhat slow-going, but I'm always eager to come back to it. It's just such an engrossing premise, and again the characters appeal to me. I'm a little over a third of the way through.

I think DS will be fine on the flight. Leaving him in his pj's is a good idea; he may fall asleep again!

I'll say to you the same thing I said to LL--all the other carp in your life will still be waiting for you after the trip. Don't worry about it now. Don't worry about it until at least November, when you'll know DH's situation on the insurance. Focus on the trip. And then focus on the TR. :goodvibes

Everything will work out for the TK clan. I know it.

Well, marriage is about compromise. ;)

That's right! It's the little things, people. :lmao:

Well, hopefully, you'll have to wait until after my trip to find out. I'm trying to hold off. Trying really hard. I'm going to read First Among Sequels also, that's my last library book, so I hope that'll help. It takes me a little longer to read a Fforde book as well, because there's more to think about. I find I didn't have to think with Twilight.

I'm glad you're all so confident! :goodvibes I guess I'm just afraid that I'll end up stuck. Stuck in this same job because of the insurance. And I'm not happy. And it's not fun to be stuck and unhappy. Ah well. Hopefully I can just make it another three months.

So....

in order to boost my spirits, I decided today was a fine day for making some t-shirts. Since we still had only made my one tank, and hadn't finished DH and DS Pirate's Life for Three shirts.

So without further ado, here they are! :goodvibes

DSCI0320-1.jpg

That's my little family. A Pirate's Life for Three. Just seeing those shirts grouped together makes me beyond excited! I did notice, however, that since my shirt has been washed, the transfer is a bit lighter than DH & DS'. So, we will not be washing their shirts. They were washed once before we did the transfers, and we're going to leave it at that. I'd rather have them looking all spiffy, you know?

Here's a close up of DS' shirt

DSCI0321.jpg

Isn't it adorable? I did cut off more excess on the graphic on his so it wouldn't overpower him, but it looks adorable. Both DH and DS have tried theirs on and they look awesome. I can't wait to wear them in the World. I think we'll make a great Oreo. :lmao:

And one more thing, not so much trip related but sort of. Remember the chapter about bemoaning the loss of baby-dom and DS heading to preschool? Well, to soften the blow (for me and him) one of my ideas was to make a custom tote bag. The kids need totes to carry their artwork in, a backpack isn't big enough. So I went to Walmart and found canvas totes for $2.48. I wasn't sure which color to pick so I bought black and canvas, thinking I'd let DS decide.

Well, today, I let him pick. He chose the canvas, and I said, "DS, when you go to school soon, this will be your bag. And we're going to put a fun picture on it for you. What picture do you want on your bag?" And we sat in front of the computer, and I showed him the image files. No hesitation. Not even a look at all of them. "Pirate Mickey, Mama." "DS, you don't want to even look at the other..." "Pirate Mickey."

So Pirate Mickey it is.

Again, like with the shirt I had planned, I put his name in the middle of the black Mickey head. It's so cute, so personalized, and so DS. My little pirate. pirate:
