Will switching names of guests affect Online Check In or Port Advent Reservations?

Hi. I currently have two staterooms booked. One is for my family (with me being the lead guest) and another is for my relatives (my husband being the lead guest). I was told to book the reservation this way so that my relatives in the other stateroom can check in with us and book excursions with us as gold members.

I would like to switch my husband over to my stateroom and my relative (that I book in mine) to be put in the other stateroom. Would I be able to do this after we've done the Online Check In and booked our excursions? Or would switching names invalidate both and therefore, we would have to check in and book our excursions again?

When I called DCL, they said that I should just go to GS and switch them around once we board. They said they do this all the time, but I'm worried that that would create issues with the reservations and stateroom accounts and it would be more difficult to repair the issue there. I would prefer to do all changes and deal with all the issues before we board.

Any info and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Leave it as it is and just get extra key cards at guest services who is in what room is up to you. If you change it it would effect on line check in and debateable may treat it as a cancellation invoking penalties.

Shore trips you get a ticket each as long as the same people are going on booked trips there is no issue.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't told that we would get an extra key. They said that they would actually switch the card/info for my husband and my relative which is what I wanted. I just wanted to know if I should do it before.

If I just get an extra key, that would mean that if my husband's stateroom has a different muster station, then he would not be able to be with us in case of emergency. I know it seems silly to worry about things like that, but I want my family together in such circumstances and I'm afraid, he wouldn't be allowed to stay with us if there was an emergency.

The emergency station is a good point. You can not change primary guest on reservation. Once onboard guest services will change your room assignment. Be sure to do it early so it is in the system before life boat drill so KTTW reflects proper station.

Yes, your husband will have to muster at whatever station his room is assigned to. However, if you are in rooms next to each other (particularly if connecting) you will most likely have the same station. Yes, it's possible for adjoining rooms (not connecting) to have different stations.

I'd just wait until onboard to make the switch, if you are really uncomfortable with your husband being in a different muster station. You have to get the extra key at Guest Services anyway, I believe you could just switch it then.

You definitely want to leave the reservation as is. If you formally move people around, even after you get on the ship, it plays havoc with credits, gold member status for the room, etc. As PP said, just leave everyone where they are, and get an extra key card from Guest Services, after you board, to open the door of the stateroom where he will be staying. We have done this in the past and will be doing it again this summer.

Thanks, I'll try to do it as soon as we board. I will also ask at check in if we can do it there.

It's likely we will have a different muster station. We are not connecting nor are we near each other. I'll ask at check in and if not, then I'll go to GS. Thanks.

I will inquire about that. When I called, they said that they would be able to switch the guests when we board but no mention of just giving extra keys. Thanks for your suggestions.

We book 2 staterooms and have to get an extra key. This may be because we book my husband and son in one and my daughter and I in another. Then we switch so my husband are together and the kids are together. Both kids need to be 18 to stay in a cabin without an adult.

FYI if you can't move your husband to your cabin you can put a separate credit card down for just his room key ( also for the person booked in your cabin)so the charges go to the credit cards of the person not cabin.

We had 3 different people charging in our cabin and there wasn't a problem.
