What do you think? Will SW have another sale with the holidays approaching? For Christmas week travel? I bought our departure tickets for our December WDW visit, but return flights were steep. So, i waited. I hope they go down and not up!

Very doubtful. In fact, I have seen reports that flights for this holiday season are much more fully booked than last year and that many travelers purchased earlier this year. You never know if there may be some particular routes or flights that are not as booked and may go on sale, however, so it's not impossible.

There are a couple really early flights that could save us money, like $50 per ticket for our family of 5. But we're doing Mickey's Christmas party the night before we leave. I'm sure we'll be up til midnight. Not sure what to do. Save the money or pay more to sleep in :)

If we do the early flights, Magical Express would be picking us up at 3 am. Yikes.

Unless ME has changed in the past 11 months, they do not pick up that early. I think I met them at 4:00 am last December. That left plenty of time for a 7am flight. And we did MVMCP the night before and got back at 1 am. So that meant my family slept and I stayed awake to make sure we didn't miss our flight after only 3 hours sleep. If I had to do it over again, I'd have paid more $$ for a later flight.

There are 6:00am flights, they would pickup around 3:00am. It's a 24 hour per day operation.

We have flights for SW and i have watched them go higher & higher since August. Except 1 day about 2 weeks i checked our depature to Disney was $30 cheaper a ticket, but right after i was able to get the travel funds credit it went right back up $50 higher. Also alot of them seem to be unavailable for the wanna get away price.

OP have you checked into flights out of Tampa. I realize you would have to rent a car in order to get to Tampa (TPA) but it can be well worth it. You could rent a car at the Disney Car Care center the day before your flight and turn the car in at TPA ( tampa airport). We did this and saved a bundle even though we had to rent the car we still saved $$$. And got a better departure flight time. Plus there is no one way rental fee either!

The difference between the two airports are: It takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Disney to TPA. It takes 30 minutes to get from Disney to MCO That being said TPA is only an extra 40 minutes ride from Disney compared to MCO to Disney.

TPA is a much calmer airport. It can take 20 minutes from the time you drop off the rental car and get through security it is that easy. We have done it!

It is so easy to get to TPA from Disney just hop on I - 4.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and booked the later flight at the higher cost. Whooo hoooo, we're going to Disney :)
