Will SW fare drop for late August flights?

I just booked a 5 night AKL villa trip. I was able to snag yes tickets but now how will we get there? We can drive from Long Island. We have considered it but, I would much rather fly. Right now prices are around $350 pp round trip. What are my chances of the prices coming down?

I would say very low. We booked our flights (traveling 8/18 - 8/24) from ISP the day they came out and have watched as the prices have gone up, up and WAAAY up.

Take a look at flying from LGA on AirTran (now owned by Southwest). Definitely not as convenient as Southwest, but you can still get fares between $101 and $114 each way (plus baggage) depending on the days you are traveling. If you are traveling on the weekend, you probably won't see the fares you'd like.

For SW, I would say zero chance.

I have been watching the airlines everyday and JetBlue seems to be flucuating like crazy. I am working on a last minute late-July/early-August trip (yes, next week) and JetBlue dropped my fares on Tuesday for just one day and they were pretty good.

SW just keeps getting worse and worse. They are outrageous. I'm so bummed. I've flown on them for years and have gotten great deals. For some reason, with SW, those days are over.

I agree with the previous posts. SW has done nothing but go up for late August! I booked our trip, Aug 18 - Sept 2, and it was more than I wanted to spend (about $350 pp) but I didn't want to book Airtran (which may be cheaper). I'm checking luggage this trip. Also, in case something happens and I need to change or come home early, I like how flexible SW is (although now if that happens I bet the fare will be higher!).

If you find flights that work, I'd book ASAP.

If you are using SW I would book the flight now and if the price goes down just call and get the credit for the difference. We booked our flights the day the fares were available, they went down about $20 the next week (each way) so we got the credits and since then they have gone up. My guess is that they only have so many seats at the lowest price and after they are gone the price just keeps rising.
