Will Smith Apology

In my opinion, it's way too little, way too late. But, I guess, time will tell.

It seemed pretty heart-felt. It sounded like he tried to reach out to Chris Rock to apologize directly and was rebuffed. If I were him I would want Chris to know that I was sorry and if a public statement is the only way to do that then it's OK in my opinion. Also, if the apology came too soon it would look more like butt covering instead of actual remorse.

I guess when I hear him bring up the fact that he felt what Chris said was insulting and disrespectful and how he has experienced trauma from this, it doesn’t come across as a sincere apology. It just seems to come across as, “feel sorry for me.”
I don’t know. It seemed kind of cringy to me.

Exactly. You don't apologize by justifying your actions. You just admit you were wrong and say you are sorry.

I started to watch it and turned it off after just a few seconds. I just do not like the man and can’t help but feel there is an ulterior motive for just about everything he and his family does, and the motive is always how it helps them.

I’d like to be wrong, and would like to think this could be the defining moment in his life for some changes to be made. His actions are going to have to speak louder than a few minutes of video though.

I guess getting an apology at some point is good but Will missed the mark by eons here. It says a lot that it took this long for him to reflect and decide this had to happen. I am sure the Smith's are eager to move on and are hoping this helped. They just all need to go away.

Meanwhile, Chris Rock is performing sold out shows with Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle. Chris even briefly addressed the Will Smith thing onstage. At the last show, Kevin Hart jokingly presented Chris with a live goat (as in greatest of all time). The goat was named Will Smith.

This was all over social media in the last few days. Then, boom, Will Smith pops his head up again.

He can apologize all he wants - it's up to Chris to forgive him, and he's under no obligation to do so. Even if he does, he never needs to come out and publicly state that he has forgiven him. Not only that, forgiveness is only meant to help the forgiver heal and in no way lets Will off the hook.
That's the way forgiveness works. For Chris' sake I hope he can do that. I really don't care what Will thinks or does, but I do hope he gets help - he clearly needs it.

Yeah, the only person who can judge this apology is Chris Rock, as it is directed to him. He can decide to accept it or not. Personally, I don't care to pick it apart since its not for me to decide how effective or sincere it is.
