Boy, those weekends, even the long ones, are just not long enough!!
It was nice, tho, on Friday not to have to get up early.
The Kid and I slept late and got up in time to meet my friend and her daughter. We all went to lunch at Red Robin and then a drive down to Girl Scout camp to pick up some things. My friend works for the GS council
long, drawn out story but the bottom line is that our council is not very volunteer-friendly (this is the opinion of a volunteer) so basically my friend works for the other side. It has caused a wedge in our friendship so I try not to discuss GS with her if I can help it. (Makes it a bit hard since she helps me with my troops!
) I just agreed to go down to camp with her because A) she is notoriously late for everything and I didnt want to be waiting around for her to putz around camp and B) it gave us some time to talk which we havent done in a while. We were going to the movies in the afternoon so I knew I needed to be around her to make sure we made it on time!
So, we do make it to the movies to see G Force.
We saw the 3D version.
It was a cute movie. Probably not something Id choose to see but the Kid has been looking forward to it so I knew wed be seeing it. It was funny and made me laugh out loud quite a bit. Id recommend it!
Saturday we were supposed to go hiking in the Adirondacks but backed out because I had a sinus headache. We were moving slowly that day and got ourselves out the door by 1:00. We went downtown to the Arts and Crafts festival. There were a ton of festivals going on around town this weekend. I am not much of an arts and crafts person but this one is a juried show and the stuff is good. The Kid wasnt so enthusiastic about it but if these things are left up to her shed stay in bed watching TV all day. We ate at a restaurant that is smack in the middle of the festivities.
This is a picture of the restaurant in the background and some dancers in the foreground.
Its called The Mission and is an old converted church. They serve Pan-American food. I didnt take any food porn pictures but we had a Cobb salad and tacos. I had a mango iced tea, too. It was good! The Mission was also one of the stops on the Underground Railroad back in the 1800s. If you ask they will take you downstairs to show you where the people would stay on their way further north and freedom.
The Kid and some ::shudder:: art!!
We headed to the mall after that to find a summer-y nail color for pedicures. I got it in my head that I wanted something really summery and bright. On my hands I either go really light or really dark but for a pedicureanything goes! Right now I have a dark brown, nearly black and the Kid as a French pedicure. On our trip in a few weeks we are hoping to spend a little time on the beach so I wanted something appropriate. The color we got was a reddish orange. Not exactly what I had in mind but it will do.
We walked into the Disney store but didnt buy anything. Didnt even put any money on my gift card! They had buy one get one free plush toys. The Kid wanted this huge Eeyore but we didn't get it. They had some G Force stuff, too. We were running out of steam by that time. Stopped at Starbucks for some sustenance and then went home.
I was reading Mousejunkies and put it down for a few minutes and this is what happened..
