Will She or Won't She--8/17 Update-Cow Tipping?

The only one of those you will probably have problems getting into is Le Cellier. Be up and either online ready to go on your 90 +10 day the minute you can make ressies for that one. When they ask what you want to book, start with that, then work your way down. Wolfgang Puck Express is not a table service restaurant. There is a Wolfgang Puck TS, but I honestly thought the Express was better. Earl of Sandwich again is a CS not a TS, so other than a line, you will get it. Both of those are in DTD in case you didn't realize. We ate at GFC this past trip, but we are red meat and veggie eaters, so I can't recall what all they had there other than that. Realize that anything with heavy carbs is totally skipped over in my memory bank when it comes to menus. I ate at Raglan Road in 2005 (one of the very few highlights of that trip). I remember it was pretty good and I would love to try it again, but again with the carbs for me, too many potato dishes. I think they recommend getting a seating at 8 when they start live music (might want to look up and confirm that time). The teen might enjoy that. Good luck on getting your ressies. I have to wait until Febuary still :( .

Yep, I only have three TS right now, I believe. And Le Cellier is the one I am most worried about. I read so many reports of people NOT getting in it makes me wonder if anyone really does eat there! LOL!! I don't mind taking lunch reservations so I am keeping my fingers crossed! I am so glad that you enjoyed Raglan Road--gives me hope for a good meal! The kid likes steak so she will be happy with most of these places!

Hey I am tuning in!popcorn::

Yea!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

Well, I am sitting here in tears as the very long post I just typed vanished. I kept copying it in case I lost it but forgot that I was copying pictures, too, and when I went to paste it back I only pasted a picture. I will have to compose myself before I attempt it again. Darn it!!

Okay, I’ll try this again but be forewarned…I’m a bit grumpy about this! My fault, I know, I should have been paying closer attention especially since I know a lot of people lose their posts all the time. Oh, well….

It’s just that I was typing for like TWO HOURS and I’M AT WORK!! Okay, I’ll be quiet about it for now…

I took last Friday off as a vacation day. I HAD Friday, Monday and Tuesday booked as vacation days as this was to be the weekend we took our Cadette troop to Concord, Ma for their End-of-Year trip. It’s a long story which I won’t bore you with as to why it did not take place. But I had been looking forward to having that Friday so I kept that vacation day and gave up Monday and Tuesday.

Since I wasn’t going to MA this weekend I was able to take up an offer to go to Seabreeze amusement park. One of the Brownie troops in my service unit was taking their End-of-Year trip there and invited me and the Kid to go along. Now, I am not an amusement park person. And when I tell people that I always qualify it with, “I don’t consider Disney World to be an amusement park!”. But I thought it would be something for the Kid to do and she was up for it so we took the offer.

The day was predicting rain, thunder and lightening but it started off sunny and breezy. :cool2: We met up with the troop at the high school’s parking lot where we boarded one of these…

Seabreeze09r.jpg

I have not been on a school bus since I was in high school a LONG time ago!! We boarded the bus with 17 Brownies ages 7 and 8, one teenager and 4 adults and Jim, the bus driver. Did you know those suckers are NOT air conditioned? What the heck?? :confused3 With all the windows down we headed towards the thruway. Seabreeze is in Rochester which is about an hour and a half from where I live. As we bumped and shook towards Rochester it kept getting darker and darker. Half way there the skies opened up. It was short lived and there was brightness ahead. Now, if this had been ME planning this trip I would have been checking the weather all week and cursing up a storm and threatening to kill weathermen if it dared to be anything less than sunny and 72 degrees on my trip!! But I was just along for the ride so I didn’t have to worry about it so much. :goodvibes

Now, I’ve been to Rochester more times than I can count and I noticed that Jim got off an exit that was not a Rochester exit. But I have gone to Seabreeze by another route before (the one and only other time I have been there) so I thought maybe he was bypassing the city by getting off early. Turns out he was letting a GPS unit guide his way and it was guiding us away from Rochester! After a few turns we made it back to where we should be to get to where we were going. Made me wonder why we took the detour because we were now on the road we would have been on if we had gotten off at the correct exit. I mentioned this to one of the leaders and she said, “The bus driver just said the same thing.”

We pulled into the parking lot and that’s where we stayed for quite a while because the skies went black and it poured and thundered and lighteninged all around us. We had one little girl have a complete meltdown. I guess that is pretty good out of 17! They got her calmed down by distracting her with lunch. We all brought our lunch with us which we now ate on the bus. The Kid and I shared a roast beef sub (sorry, no pictures! :) ). We had celery and carrots (with ranch dip), blueberries and pineapple in our bento boxes. I thought this was a lot of food. Keep that in mind for later.

The storm blew over and while it was damp and still sprinkling we went into the park. I will admit that I HATE getting wet. And can get miserable when I do. (Just ask the Junior troop I took to Hershey Park for Girl Scout weekend a few years back!!) I had an umbrella with me, tho. We went under cover so the leader could split up the girls into more manageable groups for touring the park. I don’t know what was going to be expected of us. If they assumed we would help or if they wanted us on our own. I don’t like to step on toes and even though I am the service unit manager for my area I always defer to the troop leader when I am on “their” turf! The leader was explaining to me why she was splitting the girls into groups and I said something like, “Smaller groups—always a good idea.” And the next thing I know she is calling girls over and I have 4 little girls looking at me. :scared1: (Keep in mind that I only know four out of the 17 that were there and I only got one I knew in my group.) I was fortunate, tho, that I had the Kid with me. She could go on rides with them and we could split up if they wanted to go on different rides.

While we were doing this an acrobatic act did an impromptu show right where we were standing. They are called Cirque En Vol and are from Quebec. They normally perform on an open stage but since the stage was wet they went under the covering. They were good and the girls loved them! They kept shouting out, “That was awesome!!”

Seabreeze098.jpg

Seabreeze096.jpg

My little group headed towards the Tilt a Whirl which they rode twice in a row—no lines! Right across from that was the Jack Rabbit. They ran onto that one as I am saying, “Are you sure? That’s a roller coaster!”. A big people’s roller coaster! Two of them came back a little shell shocked and didn’t go on again while the others did. I had to persuade them to move farther into the park. We had been there a half hour and we were still at the entrance!

We headed towards the back of the park where the water rides were. Along the way they went on this…

Seabreeze09h.jpg

By the time we got to the water rides all four of the little girls were walking around in their bathing suits. The rides were wet so when they’d get off a ride they’d shed a shirt or shorts. Can you imagine a time when you walked around in a public place like this in your bathing suit and thought nothing of it? Ahh, to be young again!

It wasn’t exactly warm at this point but they weren’t complaining. I guided them to the Wave pool because it looked cool. That was my mistake! The pool was calm for a long time while they were in there. They splashed around and had fun anyway. When the wave started I kept my eye (from the sidelines) on the girls who were in the shallow end while the Kid went with the others into the deep end. At one point, people were trying to get my attention to tell me that the Kid LOST HER GLASSES! :scared1: I told a lifeguard and he motioned for the wave to stop. I don’t remember a lifeguard actually getting into the water but all the people in the water started looking around the bottom of the pool. The Kid came out because she couldn’t see. Lo and behold, someone found them!! :worship: I was ready to leave that place so I counted heads 1, 2, 3….where is 4? I look down into the pool and there she is right in front of a lifeguard trying to get his attention. I said, “Come on, J. Stop flirting with the lifeguard, you’re 8!”. That got a chuckle out the lifeguard.

When they were in the Wave pool the sun finally came out. The sky turned blue and there were big fluffy clouds. Like nothing had ever happened! But now it was starting to get humid.

We headed back to the bus for the pre-agreed upon break.

Seabreeze09s.jpg

Girls had a snack and some water. I grabbed my group off the bus early to get back in the park. We headed into the last section they hadn’t done. They went on a few kiddie rides and then went on something called the Screaming Eagle. When I see feet flying thru the air I have to walk away! The Kid took three of them on it while I and my not-so-brave, in other words, SMART, charge went to get a soda. It was nearly 4pm and I had not had one single diet Pepsi yet! Normally, I’ve had two by now! I got my companion a slushie since she was doing so good not complaining when the others went on rides that she wasn’t so sure about. The others made comments when they saw her with it but I am mean…I wasn’t about to buy them all one at $3 a pop!! I let them share my precious soda and they were happy to skip off to their next ride.

I did cave in and go on one ride. This one…

Seabreeze09aa.jpg

It didn’t leave the ground, you didn’t need to remove your flip flops before entering, and I have been on this kind of ride before. It went fast which I likened to a trip on Test Track! I had one of my charges with me and off we went. Don’t like going backwards at that speed so much. Forward was fine, tho. Even tho I worried the whole time that the safety bar was going to come undone and throw us across the park. I think that is my biggest fear with rides—equipment malfunction. Funny thing is….when the ride was over I couldn’t get the safety bar open! We had to wait until the attendant came around to open it for us. We were the only ones and the last ones off the ride. :rolleyes1

It amazes me that 7 year olds had no fear of this ride…

Seabreeze09x.jpg

Yes, that is the Kid and one of the little ones with her. The other three were riding a tamer ride but as soon as they got off and saw that the Kid was on this ride two of them ran over to get her to go on it again. Later one of them told me that as she was sitting there waiting for it to start she was wondering if this was a good idea! OMG! I think that before EVERY ride! I said, “I usually have that thought while I am standing in line.”. She said, “There was no line.”

We went back to the water rides for our last few minutes. I told them that when I say it’s time to go, it is time to go. We were supposed to leave at 6 and their parents were expecting them at 8:00. Of course, when I said it was time to go that is when they gave me grief. “Just one more ride!”, “Just 5 more minutes!”. But I am a punctuality freak and I wasn’t about to be the one that held up the bus. I threatened to leave them there but that didn’t work. There is always that ONE kid, isn’t there? I finally got them back to the changing house to change into their dry clothes and we got back to the bus at 6:04. We were the first ones on the bus, tho. We got on the road around 6:20 with no one left behind. Remember the big lunch I mentioned we had earlier? Well, now we were starving!! Maybe it was all that fresh air. The plan was to stop along the way home for dinner. They wanted a McD’s and it was several thruway stops before we hit upon one. The bus driver didn’t allow any eating while the bus was moving so we had to eat at the rest stop. That put us farther behind. The leaders were a bit frantic because some of their parents can be a bit of a thorn in the side and love to find fault with them. All the parents were called to let them know we would be late. I know the two leaders were frazzled and not having much fun anymore because of this. I told them this happens all the time. I have never been back on time from trips with girls and, yes, it drove me NUTS because I feel so responsible for being on time. But things happen! They planned to feed the girls but not planned on not being able to eat on the bus while heading down the highway. I didn’t hear too much grumbling when we got back to the high school. It makes me upset that these two leaders have some problem parents because they are really good leaders. It’s another long story but there is one mother that resents the leaders for personal reasons and tries to get others on her side. Anyway, we were back, safe and sound and everyone had a really good time.

That night was also the night of my town’s fireworks. As we were heading home, tho, there was a lot of lightening in the sky. Not just one or two at a time but multiple arcs of lightening! I had never seen it like that before. We wondered if they’d still have the fireworks because of the lightening and the fireworks being held in an open field behind the elementary school. But they did. The Kid and I decided not to go and watched them from the backyard. I am about 4 blocks from the school so it’s not like being right there but we could still see pretty good.

Sunday was a day to rest and relax! We laid around being lazy and watching movies. I have got to get into better shape for Disney! I can’t spend a day walking all around and then a day of rest! I will only have 8 days there!!

This is what my pictures of the Kid usually look like..(with her tongue out!)

Oh man, sorry about losing the first post. What I do is open a word document and then copy and paste what I am working on in regular intervals and then at the very end just in case the DISboards decide to eat the post. Once it goes live I close the word doc.

It sounds like you enjoyed your trip even if you ended up as an unexpected chaperone. I don't remember a single GS trip that we made it home on time either...lol.

You had some brave 2nd graders with you!! My 2nd grader wont do any ride that is outside the kiddie park. I am also a brownie troop leader. We haven't ventured out for field trips yet but hoping to get some in the next season.

That's what I do when I am posting at home. Why I didn't do it at work I don't know! You can believe I wrote the second post in Word! I've learned my lesson!!

I know! It was a joke with the parents in my troop that we'd always be late. I was fortunate to have understanding parents.

OMG, yes! I couldn't believe how brave they were! Some more than others but still they all went on rides that I wouldn't even consider! I think they went on two kiddie rides and all the rest were rides that adults could go on, too.

When I started out volunteering with GS (when the Kid was in kindergarten--she is now going into 12th grade), not having any of my own children, I just thought that camping, field trips, etc were what GS did so I had them doing it at a very young age. I just didn't know any better! :rotfl: I don't think I scarred anyone, tho! (I hope! :rolleyes1 ) BTW, our council was not selling the Seabreeze tickets this year so the leader got them thru the Western NY Girl Scouts. She said the people she talked to there were really nice!!

Welp, I guess it is up to me to bump this back up to the first page! :rotfl:

Not much happening on the Disney front. :sad2: I did get my copy of Mousejunkies from Amazon yesterday. I just started reading it so I can’t really comment on it. Although, there was one line that I read that summed up perfectly how I felt about WDW. I don’t have the book on me now (at work) so I can’t quote it. On my previous trips I used to purchased the Official guide and devour it cover to cover. I haven’t done that this time. I have a copy of the Passporter and have read some stuff online but that’s about it. The Disney books that I normally read now are on Disney business practices. Not that they’ll do me much good at my current job as I work for a non-profit in a peon position with little room for advancement (gee, when I put it like that… :sad2: ). But our CEO knows I read these books and she is a Disney fan and spent a week at the Disney Institute a few months ago and she has asked me to share with her any tips I come across that I think might help our organization. (Which, I admit, I did. I told her I thought our new employee orientation could be better and now I am going to be working with my supervisor on revising our orientation.)

ANYWAY…the real reason why I read these books is that in my non-work life I am involved with Girl Scouts (as previously mentioned). I have been a leader for a long time but I am also a trainer and a service unit manager which means I am working with adults. I use Disney practices to make myself a better leader, to inspire the people I am training or managing, and PLUS the experience! I am happy to say that we have one of the better service units in our council and I believe it is because everyone is committed to the mission and doing what it takes to make us better. And that comes from making the volunteers feel valued and appreciated.

Anyway, again…..on to other things….next month I’ll be able to do another mini-TR as I, my service unit team (6 women), their children and my niece will be heading to a Girl Scout camp in Maine for a long weekend. The opportunity presented itself and we went for it! I spend yesterday on the Internet looking for possible opportunities to letterbox while we are there. I might have to suggest a side trip or two to get to some of these boxes! I have vacationed several years on the Maine seacoast with my mother and nieces and we have letterboxed in the area. I haven’t been back to Maine since my mother passed away three years ago (7/21) so it is going to be interesting to see how this goes. We won’t be going to the town we vacationed in but a lot of the area will be familiar. Anyway, it would be nice to get some letterboxing done while we are there. Whenever I travel I check to see if there are any boxes in the area and we bring our equipment just in case. (And, yes, I have checked out the possibility of letterboxing in Florida!!)

I also got my Disney purchases in the mail!! The Kid loved, loved, loved the Jack flip flops! :yay:

I would love those Jack flip flops, too! I always love to read pre-trip reports. I'm in planning mode, too. I suppose I should post one of my own!

On behalf of DIS-er ChefBilly (a/k/a Bill Burke), thank you for buying Mousejunkies! I really hope you enjoy it. It was definitely a labor of love.

Just dropping to say Happy Friday!! :cheer2: It has been a lazy at work today. I brought the Kid with me and after work we are taking a quick trip to the mall! Gonna add some money to one of the Disney gift cards. I have two so far. The Kid doesn't know that I am going to give her one when we go on the trip to buy sounvenirs. That one has $100 on it already. I've started another one for myself. It's always dangerous to go into the Disney Store because the Kid always finds something she wants...another tee for the trip, Jack water bottle, etc.

I was playing around pricing out some cruises. I couldn't get anything past December 2010 even tho I am looking for January 2011. So, I pretended I was going in 12/10 and looked at the prices. Whoa! :scared1: Higher than I was led to believe! I don't know where I saw prices that I thought were responable but I know I did. Not that they are horrible, I guess, but a three day cruise would cost more than a 7-day stay at Pop! That doesn't seem like much of a vacation but I really want to try it. And once I get a bug it is hard for me to shake.

BTW, does anyone know how to change (or add) to the title of my thread. I see that people do it all the time and Ive looked thru the guidelines but I can't find how to do it.

Have a great weekend, everyone who might be reading this!! :thumbsup2

If you are looking for the best cruise deals they will actually be in August-Nov. Hurricane season lowers the price for obvious reasons. Just buy trip insurance in case one brews up for your scheduled trip.

As for editing your title, go to your very first post in the thread, then click on edit, then go to advance edit. You will be able to edit it there.

I hope you have a great weekend as well.

I'd love to read your PTR! I am enjoying Mousejunkies! I am trying to read it slowly so it's not over so quickly! :goodvibes

Thank you! I thought that might be the way to do it. Guess I was overthinking it!!

I think I'd be a nervous wreck going during hurricane season!! Just because I am an over-worrier when it comes to weather! Of course the time I'd want to go (winter) is when everyone is trying to escape the cold weather! I am just trying to find a time when my niece (who will be in college by that time) will be on a break from school.

On to the weekend...The weekend wasn't long enough, as usual. Not that we did much....we got to the Disney Store on Friday. I added more money to one of the gift cards and we browsed. I thought for sure the Kid would find things she absolutely needed but she didn't. If anyone has little kids there were a ton of things on sale. I'd go around touching a dress here or a costume there saying to the Kid, "If you were 5, you'd so have this!". We didn't buy anything this time around which is probably a good thing!

Sunday was a lazy day of watching TV and reading. I was reading Mousejunkies and every time I chuckled or laughed out loud the Kid would say, "What's so funny?" and I'd read her the passage that got me giggling. :rotfl2:

In the beginning of the book there is a passage that says something like you can experience an amusement park but you feel Disney World. And that is so true for me!! As I've mentioned before I am not an amusement park person but I love WDW! I've been about 7 times and haven't been in a few years but I still can recall what it feels like to be there. As soon as I'd see the change in traffic signs (they're colored differently on property, as I recall), I'd feel a weight life from my shoulders. I'd feel safe. This was my world now for however long my stay. When I'd walk up to the door of the resort I'd be staying at (usually POFQ) I'd be thinking, "I'm home.". Even a smell can trigger a memory. Just Saturday in the grocery store we were walking thru the produce section and I said, "That smells like Disney World. That's how it smells in The Land.". To which the Kid replied, "You're weird." Oh, well! There are worse things to be weird about, huh?

I, once again, broke my promise to watch my money and bought more Vera Bradley. I am waiting for the bucket totes to hit $25 before I buy another but I couldn't help looking at the website (darn them for sending me emails reminding me they are there waiting for me!). I got an eyeglass case, 2 brush cases (I will use as makeup cases. They had one in Peacock that matches my purse and then I saw they had one in Botanica which matches the Hipster I have for WDW so I HAD to get it!) and I got the Kid a Maggie purse. It was only $15...a little too small for me but it's the size of the purse she carries now. I don't know if she wants it but I wanted to buy it! ;)

I had a dream last night that I was on a cruise! How weird is that? I don't know if that is an omen...take a cruise...don't take a cruise....:rotfl2:

Anyway, the Kid and I did discuss moving the dates of our trip. I was thinking I'd still like to spend New Year's Eve at WDW. I know it is going to be packed but I'd like to do something for NYE this year. I'd like to do Times Square sometime but I can't fathom standing for hours with so many people. And the temps could range from cold to frigid! The Kid said she'd like to be in WDW for NYE, too, so I was thinking of moving our dates from getting there on the 27th to getting there on the 30th. We are leaving on the 3rd but I'd change that to the 6th or 7th. Since the cost for a room in January is cheaper we could actually add on another day and stay eight nights instead of seven. I am going to talk to a CM when I call to make another payment on the room. I like the idea of having more days in January since I am hoping the crowds will thin out after New Year's.

Stay tuned!!

When does the niece start back to school after Christmas? Our schools go back shortly after NY, sometimes as early as the 3rd. Good luck on changing your dates if you decide to.

Oh, she goes back on the 4th! :) Our original (current) dates has her missing one day of school because we are leaving on the 3rd but won't be back until the 4th (via Amtrak). I chose these dates because she told me that now that she was going to be a Senior in high school she didn't think she should miss a week of school. That's NOT what she said last year but I was glad that she was taking school seriously for change (oops! Did I say that out loud?? :rolleyes1). I really had a lot of misgivings about going between Christmas and New Year's but it began to grow on me. Then, right after she got out of school this summer, she told me she wouldn't be opposed to missing a week of school. Her father is okay with it. He knows I will crack the homework whip! So, that is why we are now looking at changing our dates.

When I was at the mall the other night we went into the card store to pick up a birthday card. The Christmas :santa: ornaments were out! I took a quick look--a look because I always give my two godsons ornaments for Christmas :santa: and quick because I don't want to be reminded of Christmas :santa: in the summer!! :beach:They didn't have the whole collection out yet because I didn't see the godchild ornaments nor the Feliz Navidad ornament (one of my nephews used to tell my mother to turn up the radio in the car when that song came on when he was a little kid and ever since I've purchased him a Feliz Navidad ornament. He's 21 years old now and has enough godchild and Feliz Navidad ornaments to fill a tree!!)

But---they did have this one that I thought was so cute!!

Thought I'd share with you all!! Now back to your regularly scheduled PTR reading! :)

I guess I like talking to myself! ::yes::

I feel like I am a BAD PLANNER. :guilty: Well, I KNOW I am a bad planner! So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, right? It's just when I read other people's reports and see they have their park days lined up and ADR's lined up I think, "Why am I not doing that??". Am I being too anxious? The park hours aren't out yet from the time of my trip. I am assuming it should be sometime in September? My 90 days for ADR's isn't until the end of September. So, maybe I shouldn't be so hard on myself. :worried:

I am taking tomorrow off from work. :cheer2: The Kid and I are going to the movies to see G-Force. :3dglasses I was going to make it kind of a Disney day for her but now some friends are coming along so we'll just do the movie. She'd been wanting to see this movie for some reason. Kept asking me when it was coming out. When I told her the date she whined that it was too far away. I said, "Don't wish for it to come too soon because that will mean you summer vacation is half over.". That shut her up!!

I'm reading :surfweb:. I just didn't want to reply so frequently you thought I was stalking ya or something :scared1:. I think with the dinner ressies not being until the 90 day mark, it makes us feel like we aren't doing enough yet. For those that have planned many a meals 6 months out, there is this 3 month lull where we feel out of sorts with the World.

I hope the movie is good. I DVR everything at home, so I have no idea what movies are out or what they are about.

I'm still here :thumbsup2

Thanks, my dear readers!! LOL about the stalking! :rotfl: Yes, I agree...it feels like I should be doing something but there isn't much to do yet. I started my PTR so that I could talk about my trip and then didn't have anything to say! :lmao:
