Will price of Playstation 2 go down 12/26?

I am hinting (strongly) to DH to get me this and the Disney game Kingdom Hearts (of course!) for Xmas. My only concern is that the price of PS2 will go down right after Xmas. DH is not one to bargain, so he doesn't see the big deal. Maybe I should have him give me a Toys R Us gift cert? Are the odds that it will go down significantly after Xmas? TIA!

Not sure about that but Overstock.com has it for $179.99 right now

Ok, you can get them on ebay or half.com significantly cheaper as well.

Also our local Game stop had them for $159.

I rather doubt that the price will go down significantly...since Sony has nothing new on the horizon to take the place of the PS2.

I'd think twice before buying one from overstock, ebay, etc...the ones at overstock are refurbished from what I understand...and I would rather pay $20 more and get a new one with a warranty..unlike buying from ebay.

A playstation 3 is on the horizon, but isn't due out until 2005....

I'd expect the PS 2 to drop in price (my guess is $30 or so..) sometime in 2003. It last dropped this past May, down to the present $199.

I seriously doubt it will go down in price until the Playstation 3 comes out. I just purchased one last week as a Christmas gift for my 9 year-old and I paid $199 at Wal-mart.

I'm hoping that some stores will have an after-Christmas sale on the PS2 ... I'm planning on buying on for myself, so it doesn't matter to me when I get one. Nintendo recently dropped its prices on GameCube .... so you never know I'm looking forward to playing Kingdom Hearts as well.
